Just a sidenote guys..It's only my opinion but the Olympics is touted as "The Best of Amateaur Sport" Jessie Owens had his olympic gold stripped because he was paid $10 to play baseball one summer. and with professional athletes we will never have another "Miracle on ice".. let the college age kids play hockey for their Country that way we can actually guage the talent in Germany or China for example and it gives the kid that will never make the NHL a chance to play for their country..It's like the American Basketball Dream Team..whats the point..your only proving you have the best professional Athletes..The Olympics have ALWAYS been for Amateaur Sport.I know my opinions not a popular one..but neither was the idea of the world being round..it was just a fact..like the Olympics being the best of Amateaur or NON professional athletes so 1000 yrs of history should be long enough to cement a tradition don't ya think?

As a season ticket holder for the Charlotte Checkers I’d just like to say that Scott Darling isn’t even playing for the Checkers at the moment. He is currently on a “personal leave of absence.” according to the Canes GM Don Waddell. I believe it was on February 10th that the news came quietly out. Darling had a real rough time down here in Charlotte. Alex Nedeljkovic has been our starter while Callum Booth has been our back up lately. Anyway love the show.

A 4:01/mile pace is 24 km/hr. So Manziel's wife claims to have ran the second half of the half-marathon at just over 24 Km/hr. To further put this into perspective, the current men's world record holder for the marathon, Eliud Kipchogi, one of the greatest runners of all time, ran the world record in 2:01:38, which is a pace of 4:38/mile, which translates to a speed of around 20.9 Km/hr. The world record holder for the half marathon for men, Abraham Hiptum, ran his world record in 58:18, a 4:27/mile pace and a speed of 21.7 Km/hr.

The blue line goes up the boards on the sides but offsides are considered along the ice??? This doesn't make any sense plus they are also punishing guys for lifting their feet while in stride even though that is how you skate. The nhl makes no sense lol

Just that rule makes no sense and the isles fans are a bunch of sucks and babys. No other teams fans do that but montreal, but thats montreal. Pittsburgh is only 6 points out, washington is tied now, Carolina is on a huge winning steak and 5 points out as is Columbus with a game in hand. The isles might not even make it. That would be great karma. Especially if montreal and the isles were tied for the last playoff wildcard and the leafs last game is against who? Montreal. The leafs win but in OT and the habs get the extra point to get in. I can only wish that happens.

You paint the blue lines thicker...it's so easy a solution, NHL is daft, you paint the blue lines thicker and you add more square footage to the offensive zone and middle ice is bigger. And you don't have move any seats in the rink

The capacity at Nassau Collisseum is around 13,000. The capacity at Barclays is around 15,000 ( about 1000 or so in shitty obstructed view seats) so not to say that fans don't show up because they've never shown up to Barclays but even at capacity our numbers wouldnt look good lol

The reason for men's soccer being U23 with 3 overagers is that during olympic years there is also the EURO which means the best players from Europe prioritize their continental championship. Instead of having countries send their "B-teams", they give some youngsters a chance to prove themselves, who wouldn't make the EURO squads (only applicable for European countries. Some years there are exceptions like Messi in 2008 or Neymar in 2012. Women's World Cup/EURO are in odd-numbered years, meaning they have no other tournament clashing with olympic participation.

Nassau only holds under 14K for hockey. Averaging 12K is 86% capacity. Even Barclays only holds just under 16K for hockey, and some of those seats are heinous.

Is it safe to say Boucher has a set 2.5 season shelf life as a coach? With Tampa: Conf final (lose in 7), miss the playoffs, then fired mid season. With Ottawa: Conf final (lose in 7), miss the playoffs, then fired mid season.

Fundamentally disagree with Adams mcdavid support for 2018/19 hart. He can be argued as the best overall player playing. He has not had the best season or been the most valuable by a long shot this season. Kucherov is running away with the Hart (as he is with the art ross and the lightning are with the presidents trophy). It has nothing to do with playoffs - it’s when you drag your team ALL the way up to 23rd in a 31 team league. Plus are nowhere near the league leader in points or goals as a forward. Plus you don’t shut down other teams elite players. What is it that you do better than everyone and why has it produced no results? Yes he can be considered the most talented (like Lebron) but nothing about this season for him is reason for league MVP.

McBackup earned that spot. They should've kept him. It's not like he plays every night, you can play backup into your late 30s. However, I've been saying that sparks doesnt look like an NHL goalie now, mostly because Babcock hasn't been using him too well so he never got adjusted to the NHL. I think by next year sparks will look a lot better.

Hate to break it to you, the reason for low attendance is that everyone hates the Barclays center, and the coliseum only seats around 13,000+. Weird our average is 12,000+. You guys are better than this.

Actually the islanders only play in the coliseum 12 times this season. And the Barclays centres capacity is around 15k. But still a very good point.

Doesn’t really matter how many games are player there, everytime they have either sold out or come very close to it. And the Islanders fan base is like 99% on Long Island, and getting to Brooklyn for the Barclays Center is a challenge.

If the Islanders played in the Coliseum every game and sold them all out, they’d be 29th in the league because it only seats 13,917. Barclays Center, despite being located further away from the fanbase, seats 15,795 people and has 101 suites. The Coliseum doesn’t even list how many suites they have because it sure isn’t 101. The money isn’t there even if the fans are. And now the Belmont Park arena project is delayed because of local politics. The team is struggling even in its successes, and I hope they can turn a new leaf once the new arena finally opens, but it’s a strange situation until then. whats with the distrust in flower, back to back stanley cup appearances posting 14+ games played in both runs and a 9.24+ save percentage. Absolutely destroyed the jets run last year. Shutout the " give them the cup now" caps and beat holtby in a game 7 in 2017. Flower is a great pick. 3 cups and 4 scf runs?????

Just found out Manziel has Bi Polar and the CFL was forcing him to take lithium etc. If you have ever known someone with Bi Polar to the point where to have to take lithium, it is shocking to imagine Manziel even got to where he did, and I don't blame that guy for not being able to play at the elite level he maybe could.

Attendance to Islanders games have been horrible recently because the Long Island fans don't make it all the way out to Brooklyn, the Islanders organization haven't tried to cultivate fans in Brooklyn, Barclays is a horrible arena, and Nassau Coliseum is a tiny arena. And the team has been middle of the road to bad for a number of years. Things will likely pick up next year after they get back to the playoffs this year.

I've seen the Sparks I saw in the Calder Cup playoffs maybe twice this season. He's out of sync, and he is trying way too hard to make saves. In the Calder Cup playoffs he was calm and in great position. Sparks just isn't a backup goalie. I'm still curious what happens if he isnt injured when Freddie was hurt. That was his chance to prove he is better when he plays more often. I think the type of goalie babs wants just isnt sparks. It's hard to make a starter a backup. I agree he hasnt been good, but yeah. That's my opinion.
