Clapton wouldn't be converting to Catholicism over finding solace in Mary. I was raised Roman Catholic, and can tell you that the Church of England has loosened its attitude toward Mary, Mother of Christ. There is no need to convert to understand that the mother of Christ is the mother to all of us.

You can ask her to pray for you to get closer to Jesus and to live a life of faith , hope and love. She's our heavenly mother, so you can ask her to pray for the things you're struggling with. You are describing the Nestorian heresy. Dividing Jesus' Divine Nature from His Human Nature. Jesus took human nature unto Himself. Fully God/ Fully MAN, ONE Person. Mary is The Mother of The Person Jesus. She did not give Him His preexisting Divinity. In fact He made her. But she is the "God Bearer/ Theotokos/Mother of God. "Divine Mother" in that context means she is the Mother of a Divine Son.

Well if we want to get technical like many saints have agreed on Mary is actually divine not by nature but as a gift from God Mary is referred to as kecharatomene=FULL of grace it denotes someone that was is and always will be full of grace, we loose grace when we sin, Mary being always full of grace means she never end sin, also Mary can be call divine because she was created to do something divine and carry or born someone divine as in Divine Mother according to St. Louis de Montfort, this is all again as a gift from God not by nature like God is

@user-vi5vy3kr2w, You're thinking of Cat Stevens. I love his old songs. He had a beautiful voice and was a fine writer. He converted to Islam, which meant nothing in particular to me. If he had any hits after that, they weren't known in the US. I don't trash him for it, nor would I want to convert to Islam, myself--especially being a woman. Too old to start wearing burka, hot head coverings and being a second-class citizen.

I don't like the phase "Divine mother," and as a Catholic, I've never heard it before. The most commonly labels are "Blessed Mother" and "Holy Mother." That said, English allows it without saying Mary is divine. Saying divine (object) can mean (object) came from God. You would not think that grace WAS God, if I said I was blessed with divine grace. A good rule to live by is accept the best case, unless given overwhelming evidence otherwise.
