The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Probably my favorite story in Basketball history. Some of you may recognize the original script, but I promise it ain’t many, because the video bombed the first time. With Conley winning the award, and with so few people knowing the details about it, I thought it was worth giving this thing an update. Are Twyman and Stokes appreciated enough??
@MJIZZEL
@MJIZZEL Ай бұрын
Definitely not enough. I didn't know about it before your video.

Watched the first video but still sat and watched this through again, incredibly story and Jacks acceptance speech on behalf of Stokes when he was entered to the HOF is a great video for those who haven’t watched it (I imagine there are very few who have).

The fact that Ernie Johnson didn’t know this story for a while is crazy. Tells you how unknown it is. We need a movie about it!!!!!!

It would have been a great movie for the 90s or early 2000s, but not nowadays. They would find some where to make it ALL about race instead of some race stuff, but 90% about the man and the people that loved him.

There was a movie made about it. “Maurie” made in 1973. It’s pretty melodramatic, but worth watching.

Everytime I heard about the story of Jack Twyman and Maurice Stokes, I always want to cry especially when Mr. Twyman became Mr. Stokes’ guardian. Despite that they have different race, they are always like a brother. I remember when I watched the movie “Maurie”, Mr. Twyman really love Mr. Stokes so much until when Mr. Stokes return to Cincinnati when he honored before the Royal game. I tell you what, I’m really cried about when the PA announcer called his name and crowd goes crazy. I’m very honored that we have a great player and a great human being just like Mr. Jack Twyman. They are probably the basketball version of Gale Sayers and Brian Piccolo. Rest In Peace Mr. Twyman and Mr. Stokes.

Maurice Stokes was a great player who’s career ended too soon. this man was like Bill Russell with better passing skills. when we think of the greatest what ifs….we think of Hill, Hardaway, Walton (the greatest what if imo), Roy and Bias. Stokes deserves to be in that list. similar to Bill even though their career/prime was short you could see the greatest in that short span.

Johnny, The first time you told this story it did NOT bomb. You got my attention, and if you got my attention I am more intelligent than yesterday because of it, so thank you. This story is beautiful and probably the best there is when it comes to athletes taking care of teammates, family, and friends. I wish more athletes like these existed in today’s generation.

Glad you enjoyed it!! When I say “bombed”, I just mean it in terms of how many views it got. I think it ended up with like 7k views, and my channel average is like 20-40k. Honestly, I’m just determined to get as many people as possible to hear this story, just because it’s so uplifting :)

Needless to say...GREAT STORY...and you told it well. A very touching piece. Stokes was before my time, but I was familiar with his relationship with Twyman & the Kutcher County Club in The Catskills & the charity event. The naming of the gym was news to me. Thanks for the memories. No question, your the best.

What I love most is that this transcends the racial issues, especially back then. We are human beings first, races, cultures, religions, etc., second and on down the line. Let's be united by our love of basketball but also a love for the diversity and beauty that is us as people. Great video Jonny!

Jesus paid the price for sin on the cross and rose from the dead 3 days later. Repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ alone. He is our Lord and Savior. Repenting means asking God for forgiveness and turning away from our sins. Sin is any evil act that goes against God's law such as lying, stealing, taking God's name in vain, sexual immorality, and having idols above God. God provided a way out of going to Hell by sending Jesus to die for whoever will repent and put their faith in him. It isn't too late to turn to Jesus.
