So, Malfurion spammed roots with no diminishing returns on Archimonde. Archimonde got so pissed that he rage quit and logged out.

Honestly, I think Illidan's banishment was reasonable, and Malfurion was not that bad. What Malfurion said when he and Tyrande approached was "Foul demon! What have you done to my brother?" Are they really that bad? Although Malfurion didn't like his brother, he still cared about him. What demon's power can do and how terrible this power is, nearly all night elves know that. Even Illidan used that power to beat the Legion, the night elves are still afraid of the demons. No one can guarantee that Illidan will be different from the Legion, unless he proved himself was loyal to the night elf society. Unfortunately, he had betrayed and hurt his own people about 2 times. It is difficult for him to do that. The twin's actions are both right. It's just they have different thought and value. About sacrificing the World Tree's power, if Malfurion didn't do that, then how can he defeat Archimonde?

Ascalon I'm saying that both Illidan and Malfurion did what had to be done to save the ones around them, but Illidan was the only one to be punished. Illidan sacrificed himself to save the forest and fight the Legion, Malfurion sacrificed something from everyone of his entire Race. Illidan's actions were much more selfless, yet he gets condemned for them

Malfurius He said there was a window for Archimonde to return after his death in our reality. an alternate timeline Archimonde do'esnt really qualifies. Now that would even be the opposite, he died three times from players hands (WC, BC, WoD) meaning that they will probably make him either dead for all, or unable to leave the nether for a very long time.

The only 2 reasons i play WOW is they have the best lore in the world ( my opinion ) :P and some of the best pvp based games ever fun, exiting, stressful, sometimes even pailful but fun :D

i feel like illidan was the one betrayed. he did what he had to do to save azeroth, and the only thing his brother and his true love did was to exile and deny him!

Well... actually the problem is (i just realised that it is 10 months old but anyways :D) that he himself during his lust for power KILLED many of his own people even tho he didn't have to.... If he kills Lord Blackforest and much more Night elves in battle only beacuse he wants to look great in front of Rhonin... that makes him kinda the bad one :)

The whole concept of the Legion and its Failure can be explained in a few concepts. Deployment capacity: The Burning legion is only powerful in the Twisting Nether, the power they might project in worlds is dependent on how many leaders/forces they can land on the planet. Portals limit the size and power of beings that can pass: Its like the size of a door, As a Creature, you can either enter the door or not, if only a smal door can be opened to Azeroth, only a small and weaker form or Avatar of the creature can get through.(Archimonde, Kil'Jaeden and Avatar of Sargeras were such) Hence we can defeat the Demon Lords as the power they spawn with in Azeroth is dependent on the size of the portal. This technically limits the Legion from getting huge Generals, Demon Lords or Numbers of Armies of Felguards/Hunters etc get through in a short span of time. Manipulation: The Legion devices manipulation of the Big players on the world to either Assist a summon , or to Weaken the planet(both were used in the 3rd war). its like a dam full of water unable to get through a pipe/portal, pipe blocked by Heroic defenders of their respective worlds!

I concur with Raul.... Arthas, though sacrificed his soul, and everything to stop the very thing he became king of. Than again Arthas was warned many times to turn around, as oppose to Illidan that was just told a great source of demonic power lol

Raul Gonçalves Not necessarily. Yeah Illidan loves power but part of the reason why he wanted power is to get accepted by his people. He was more miss guided then anything, thinking that if he gets power and banishes demons on his own then he would get praise and acceptance for it, especially from Malfurion and Tyrande. But it all backfired on him and as you can hear from his monologue at the start of the Warcraft 3 Expansion he felt betrayed by them cause they banished him when he was only trying to help.

you know the big bit of ocean between the western and eastern continents? that was all land once. Both continents were one land mass. All that EXPLODED and sunk into the sea when the well of eternity detonated, destroying dozens of the most major night elf cities and killing millions upon millions of sentient beings. And the blame is put on magic. and what does illidan do? he makes another quasi-well of eternity. you can see why the night elves would be so extremely pissed. He wanted the best for his people on the outside. it was his excuse to himself. But deep inside, there was always the hunger for magic.

So let me get this straight, illidan fills some vials from well of eternity so that if legion invades in the future, then the nightelves have a weapon to fight but instead he is sent to prison for 10,000 years. Lets just say for argument sake that it was right thing to punish him. Then centuries later legion comes back just like illidan expected but whatever, water under the bridge. And illidan is given early release so that he can save azeroth. Illidan finds a way to defeat the legion by sacrificing his soul and becoming a demon. He does that and what he gets? another banishment. Well in the future if illidan decides to start a 3rd faction count me in.

***** I'm currently watching the whole playlist, I'm at the Lich King videos, and I saw the Ordering, but I still don't get why people would claim Illidan is a douche. I love his lore, his character, I started WoW during BC, so he was pretty much the first important character I saw (because of the trailer) and he was my first legendary in Hearthstone. And if I ever get back to WoW for Legion, then Night elf Demonhunter masterrace. #forillidan

Seeing how warcraft movie was a success globally, I really want them to explore illidan story line. I think they will become popular very easily if they stay true to the lore. Audience will feel his pain and will connect to illidan. Warcraft has potential to be bigger than Lord of the Rings if done correctly. With the budget of $160,000,000 it made $287,610,000, it was quite impressive given the bad reputation that video game movie has. I hope blizzard and Duncan can bring us worthy sequels!

Well, blame Malfurion for it, as Illidan may have felt betrayed by him, but never wanted war between him and his brother or war in general against his race. The Frozen Throne campaign shows this pretty clearly, as Illidan was due to his pact with Kil'Jaeden forced to stay away from his people. However, I feel the Night elves could have helped both him and the Naga, even the blood elves and combined their forces to overcome the problems of those magic-addicted races and their master. Still am the opinion that neither Illidan nor Prince Kael'Thas are completely evil. Illidan's main problem was his hunger for power and becoming addicted to vile methods to reach these goals, while Kael simply was betrayed by the Alliance from the beginning of the Fall of Silvermoon, not being able to defeat the one, who destroyed his home land. Even feel for him way more sorry tbh, which is one of the reasons, why I slightly dislike the story arc around Sun Well. He really was just unlucky in his choices and the backfiring of many of Illidan's plans.

Red Sausage True indeed. Though I would prefer Kael'Thas rather as a leader over the blood elves than new created characters like Lor'Themar to be honest. As entertaining as boss fights might be in the MMORPG, they kind of destroy at some point for me the nostalgic feelings you had once for these guys during Warcraft3 campaigns.

***** I would say that Malfurion had taken Queen Azshara ultimate petition for power and betrayal of Azeroth for that goal to heart. It may had such an impact on his judgement, he had completely sworn off anything and anyone associated with that type of power.

The most powerful fighting force in all of Azeroth, is the character controlled NPCs. In case you don't know, the "Hero" is the supreme commander of the Horde/Alliance coalition in Draenor. Currently the "Hero" is considered at the same level of power as Lady Liandrin, Thrall and other important figures in the lore. Like I always said, It's only a matter of time till the "Heroes" become more powerful than Demi-gods and being actually capable of challenging Sargeras and even the fully unleashed Old Gods themselves. Heroes are currently stronger than standing armies. The only actual enemy that realized this was the Lich King himself.

Mark Hornby He means the character you play story-wise. In Draenor you're called general, but obviously there's not just one general because every player is called that by the NPC's. That being said, I disagree. We're very powerful, but we've always needed massive amounts of help and other people to help us accomplish things. I can't remember a single thing we've actually done by ourselves. Even during raids, the NPC's always say "heroes" as in multiple.

Yeah, we are bunch of legendary adventurers. But individually our power is at the level of Sylvanas, Lady Liandrin, Thrall etc. They way people adress you and they way people expect more from you than others is a pretty good example of this. Also there are a few fights we done without help. Yog'Saron for example, almost every other General and even Deathwing. Most of the aspects just too a role of just sitting there while putting the bulk of the job on the Heroes. Also the way that we have Varian and Vol'jin themselves Address you and accept your fighting prowess and skill as the most important thing in their offensives. They didn't put anyone from the countless people more suitable for the job as General, they put us the PCs.

I'm fairly sure that Metzen is the Archimonde to Nobbel's Kil'Jaeden. Metzen acts in the open, whereas Nobbel plots behind the scenes.

Actually it would have nothing to do with WoD It would connect the fact that Illidan absorbed so much Demonic energy that he himself is now part Demon. Thus killing him on our plane is useless and he can simply return himself from the Twisting Nether.

that's.... a far stretch idea imo. Yes he's "part" demon but I don't think they really go into the whole "part demons now go into the Twisting Nether". The only way I can really see this working is if Illidan is now more demonic than Nightelf and is struggling to make sure his demonic ways doesn't over power him to follow the burning legion. If we help him remove the demonic powers and what not I think that would be really cool idea in a future expansion or lore story but just him coming back like nothing happened, after we killed him, from the Twisting Nether that's a pretty dull affair then.

I quit Warcraft and Blizzard games long ago, but everytime i hear a Lorevideo from you i get a tingling feeling to play this game again just becaus of the lore. Cool fights would be Archimonde, kil'jaeden and Mannoroth against us. Now that would be a fight if we could defeat them that would leave Sargeras with no leutanants left.

you should do illidian story too, since you do demons at the moment :) i like demons lore and i would like to hear more about their significant characters, you could even do the lesser demon characters summed up in one vid :D

And this is why I side with Illidan... they spit on him when he went to hell and back to save his homeland from the legion. The in Outland we kill him just because he took Black Temple by force from the previous demon lord that occupied it.

How did the demons get to Draenor if they can't get to Azeroth without being summoned? At least Mannoroth must have been there to give his blood to the orcs. If Gul'dan summoned them somehow, then why didn't they simply walked through the Dark Portal into Azeroth?

It is not that easy. For Mannoroth it is quite easy to get to a world. He is a pit lord. He's been in Azeroth two time. But for Archimonde it is a bit harder. As you see though he also said: "If I knew it's this easy, I would have started this invasion centurys ago!" This means he was able to come to azeroth whenever he wanted to.

Marvin Bannach The invasion was started by the scourge, and only when they summoned him did he arrive. It took the most powerful known spellbook to bring him into the world.

varnisa Exactly, and then Archi could summon Mannoroth. My question was, how did Mannoroth got to Draenor to "feed" the orcs with his blood if not Archi nor Kil'Ji was there to summon him? If he was summoned with a weaker summoning spell (by a warlock), why didn't he then summon some of his own army and lead the orcs through the Dark Portal? He was a quite formidable demon, not a weakling. He could have handled Gul'dan and without his betrayal the Horde would have crushed Lordaeron as well. Maybe even save Medivh/Sargeras to gain some prestige. Also, when the Alliance pushed the Horde back to Draenor, Ner'zhul used summoning portals to bring demons to his aid which destroyed Draenor, yet Mannoroth was still nowhere to be seen. Where the hell did he go after the orcs drank his blood?

Something always bothered me, it's that unexplained capacity he has to grow in size. The first time you see him in Warcraft 3 in the Undead campaign, he is about man-sized. By the end of the game, he is giant!

Why are some Draenei/Eredar blue and some red?? It seems that all the eredar (evil ones) are red except for Archimonde, whereas all the Draenei are blue.

Actually, Archimonde DID die, his bones are in the world tree, you cant see then in the game, but lore-wise they are there

But it was removed when cata came out so it is possible they changed their minds and plan on having him return. That's the only reason i'd see them removing them cause it would have made hyjal a little bit cooler with such a large testament to the people of azeroth's strength.

sgcandrewkard its been quote confirmed that he was dead. the bones were mentioned as having been removed. Since having a demon lords bones lying around your sacred world tree isnt the done thing.

Nothing is written in stone so they can change anything and they frequently do. And fans frequently hate on them for it. Maelstrom from capital of the naga to portal to Deepholme. Drek'Thar being born blind to becoming blind in WoD. Draenei corrupting Sargeras to Sargeras recruiting the draenei later. Dragon Aspects being empowered by Titans to Kalec becoming one because of a moon alignment or something. I don't even know how Thrall became one. I'm sure there are more cases but I had given up on wow lore long ago.

i don't think he will be coming back. mainly because he is not truly a demon. he is a eredar. not to mention if we do confront archimonde in wod. it wont be the archimonde we know of it will be a completely different universe version.

Giorotto being a true demon and being a being of great power converted to demonisim is 2 different things. some would argue that illidan was a demon. but his genetic makeup is night elf. no matter how you cut it. archimondes genetic makeup was eredar.

I really hate hearing Noobel say Night Elf Immortality. Even after showing a video clip of two demons killing two elfs. Not really immortal if you can die to a sword. Kinda with he would just say ageless.

samfjord Immortality means you can not die at all. Not from time. Not from physical wounds. Not from illness. They are more of an ageless race. Once who can not die from age. The movie highlander had more believe able immortality then WoW does. Sure beheading is a strange loop hole but then again. Would you want to be alive forever just a head.

***** Actually there is only one definition to the world immortality. Go look up the words definition. It clearly says can not be killed. I do not care about if the world is fiction or not. That just poor writing when you miss use a word. Just because it a fiction story does not mean words suddenly change their meaning. What am I supposed to believe that the blade is destroying some type of magical crystal in their body that is their source of their immortality? Am I supposed to forgive writers for making logical mistakes? Am I not supposed not to laugh at cringe worthy writing? I have seen many authors do these mistakes. The bikers hops on his bike. Putting it into reverse and backs out of the drive way. 0.0 Yes that was in a book. The lady who wrote it clearly has never been on a motorcycle. If she did. She would know motorcycle do not have a reverse.

doomblackdragon Well it's a fairly common thing. For example, in Lord of The Rings, the elves are immortal in that they will not die of age but they can die from mortal wounds.

Hey Nobble, great video as always, keep up The good work! At the end of the video you start talking about how Archimonde might still be alive due to the whole 'powerfull demons can only truly be killed if they are killed in the twisting nether' and while I can't argue with (most of) Blizzard lore/rules and your great arguments, I was hoping you would address that (at least pre-cataclysm) Blizzard had stuck bones, a skull and shoulders of what surely looked like to be what was the remains of Archimonde in the world tree. Now this was before Cataclysm, back in the days where Blizzard didn't really wanted people snooping around the in closed/unfinished zone of Mount Hyjal with the 'under construction sign' placed in front of the World Tree, but I haven't played for a while and I can't remember if they removed the remains when they reopened Mount Hyjal in Cataclysm... Maybe the Night Elves did a bit of clean up? Peoples been asking what happens to Frostmourne after The Lich king's defeat, maybe someone is hiding the 'shoulders of Archimonde' somewhere? Possible new Shadow priest gear for Anduin for the final fight against the legion? I know that Kel'thuzad wasn't a demon, but Arthas still had to carry his physical remains of the necromancer in his own fathers urn to resurrect him as a Lich and we did see demons in Azeroth during Classic-WoW, especially Felwood and the south of winterspring (which had the original entrance to Mount Hyjal in Classic), maybe they collected the remains of their fallen Demon Lord from Hyjal and brought it back to the Twisting Nether to speed up the recovery process? I personally believe your thoughts/speculation sounds more likely of what Blizzard decided to do, but I was just a tad disappointed you didn't mentioned the remains at the end. Otherwise, great video! Can't wait to see what you tackle next!
