Now that Warlords of Draenor is over, I figured that before we say 100% farewell to that expansion, I should teach you all about its final boss: Archimonde. Who was Archimonde? What did he do? Why did he do it? And what ultimately happened to him? All these questions, and more, I answer in this video. Strap yourselves in and prepare to learn some lore!

Come to think of it, compared to Kil'jaeden, Archimonde has very little actual lore, despite being the other major leader of the Burning Legion. He just kinda shows up, get his ass kicked, disappears then repeats it all over again.

Akbar Bagus Sorta, Kil'jaeden has a lot more though. He created the Lich King, he came up with the plan to corrupt the orcs, he has a big grudge with Velen and corrupted his son, he brought Kael'thas to his side and tried to enter the world through the Sunwell, so on and so on. Archimonde..Doesn't really do anything.

Archimonde actually has quite a bit of lore now. The Skull of the Man'ari artifact story that gets added to your book as you gather artifact knowledge is more the story of Archimonde before he became Archimonde.

Archimonde was a summon and the wisps do damage especially to summons, so the combo of 10.000 wisps and Nordrassil exploding was too much even for Archie...also cause his fucking Malfurion xD.

He killed Tichondrious, freaking turned Xavius into a fucking tree, kicked Xavius' ass AGAIN in the Emerald Nightmare, enchanted Brox's axe so he could wound freaking immortal Sargeras, then kicked Archimonde in the nards, he pretty much single handedly kicked the legion in the ass. Then kicked their ass again in WC3....then he kicked the Firelord's ass....and now he's kicking more ass right now as we speak.

It's a powerful titan, but it's not infected yet, or at least we hope so, and Sargeras wan't to destroy it because he is scared of it being corrupted.

no, actually sargeras wants to destroy azeroth before it gets corrupted by the old gods. After realising he couldn't kill them without doing more damage than before, he went a bit crazy. Also, the titan inside is not born yet, so it has no power

altough it's true that old gods want to corrupt it to kill sargeras himself and then win. If the titan was to live uncorrupted, it could also kill sargeras. so yeah sargeras dies anyway.

There is no "alternate Archimonde". When a legion demon dies, its soul wanders through the twisting nether untill it takes flesh form, again, on Argus (Legion's homeland atm). It's said so on the "illidan" novel'; and the only way to permanently kill them is to do it on Argus, or else they`ll keep coming back.

you should also add that even if its an alternate draenor its still the same legion and archimonde that got their shit kicked in b4 and their whole plan was "hey, this fell orc invasion plan was going so well for a time! Let's just try again!"

The WoD Archimonde isn't alternate universe "Archimonde". Blizzard confirmed that this Archimonde is the same one in our current timeline. I read somewhere that the burning legion "above" needing alternate universes.

Though I have heard of it, I refuse to accept it. Why? Because for every alternate wow universe there is Mannoroth will have to give the orcs bloodlust, Kil'jeaden will have to commit genocide of the dreanai over and over etc. It sounds really retarded to have one legion and multiple universes

It has never been shown that they can manipulate time, it's more that they are immune to it. They exist in all of the time lines simultaneously but do not control them the way the bronze dragons do. They probably wouldn't even see the difference between the timelines since they are all immortal beings with no reason to notice it.

he cant kill him. Look at their HP pools. In Mythic 5man Darkest Thicket, Xavius have only 220M or so, while Malfurion have 1,85Billion hp.

Yo WoD's Archimonde wasn´t alternate time stuff. Apparently there's only 1 archimonde and stuff and he just revived again because you can't kill a powerful demon completely unless its in the twisting nether.

Except that is really...ambiguous. For example, they had to piece Mannoroth back together again like Humpty Dumpty even though he is clearly strong enough to qualify as a "powerful demon" (since he dies in Azeroth during WC3 and is then alive and well in WoD). Some sources say they can only manifest on each timeline or world until they die and then they can't manifest there anymore (but can manifest elsewhere). It doesn't help that this bit of lore did not apply until Warlords (except possibly to the Dreadlords. I think it may have been mentioned at some point that they followed that rule, but it might have been in the tabletop books which are no longer canon). So, basically, Blizzard has no fucking idea what they're doing with this shit and are flying by the seat of their pants regarding demons.

Too bad Blizzard decided the legion is the same across both timelines. Not only is Archimonde *still* not really dead, the fucker is the same one that "died" when a bunch of wisps went all jihad on him at the world tree. There is really no way for them to explain this away, so I suppose it's just going to remain one of the game's innumerable glaring plot holes.

IIRC, in the mythic Archimonde fight, which is the one that ultimately counts, we down the boss in the Twisting Nether, so he is actually dead.

DNthekos If only that were the case. Regrettably Blizzard has decided that he's still alive. In fact, he's slated to return at some point in Legion. We'll be re-fighting a crapload of old raid bosses. Even Jaraxxus will be making an appearance despite having no lore significance whatsoever. You can already see some of them wandering around over at the Broken Shore. Ol' Brutallus is there.

The thing is, even in the Mythic.Version of the Raid, the endcinematic still is the same. That means he teleported us and himself back and took his last breath on Draenor. So he is still alive

Love how you stay true to the lore but adds quite some comedy to it. Really want to see Malfurion or Varian' story.
