I basically rescued a Guinea pig. I went to see the guinea pigs for my birthday and I was going to pick a pure brown one but then I saw 3 other guinea pigs bullying 1 guinea pig he was a mix of colours and Ik he is not wanted by the others so I took him. He has bite marks in his ears and junks missing but he’s a healthy little piggy now

On the whole "don't buy a sick animal to save it" I couldn't agree more! There's a pet store near my house that takes HORRIBLE care of their animals, like all of them. There was a ball python that had been there for months and I knew it wasn't in proper conditions and I knew it was sick. Talked to the owner but he told me it was fine. Bought it and took it home, it's name is Beebo and it's now extremely healthy and taking it back to health was super easy with proper husbandry! But I regret buying it because in its old tank, the owner put a full grown boa (cage was already too small for my ball python) and they now have another ball python in an even smaller tank... Horrible story all around.

I was trying to save an axolotl from my sister who naturally just impulse bought it. She left it to die and by the time I was finally able to get him outta there, he passed. This axolotl had been in that tank for I have no idea how long. There was so much poo in the tank it was ridiculous. It pisses me off how people can abuse animals just because it isn’t a dog or cat. I try to make sure Billy (my axolotl) as comfy in his tank as possible because I love him and I’d like to believe I’m a decent person.

story: I was going to the pet store because I like looking at the fish, I look at a thank and there's this weird thing. I look at what it was an axolotl, I fell in love with it the next day. two weeks later my friend comes over for a sleepover and the next day it was the minecraft update live, and I got sad because the moobloom lost I go to my room to do something but get side tracked on my phone, my dad yells "there that pink salamander. I heard "there's that pink salmon, a few minutes later my dad comes in my room and says "whats wrong", im like oops I forgot. he laughs and says axolotls are getting added, I started screaming with joy and months later I got a 55gl tank and stuff to make the water ok for the axolotl days later, I come mom from school and my dad stands in the living room and says "do you want to get an axolotl right now", and i yelled "YES" AND WE GET OUR AXOLOTL!!! then we named it specky because he had specks on his tail, btw he is doing great and healing from is horrible time at that horrible pet store :(

Weirdly enough the exact same thing happes with my rat! She still doesn’t walk quite straight and doesn’t have good balance but apart from that she’s fine. We think she has something wrong in her brain but we don’t know

I feel like a huge thing the vet missed is if he was out of water for any time and unable to breathe, lack of oxygen can absolutely cause neurological damage.
