Always remember that regardless, being a professional player or not, in life one need someone to guide them. Eric Cantona was already a professional and was a mess, nobody wanted him but Ferguson brought him in and turned his career&life around. Balotelli would have been a better player if he had someone to guide him right. So it's never about being an amateur or a professional.

As a Sporting fan, Paím was possibly our greatest player who never was. The kid was fucking amazing. But his focus was on everything but football. I actually met Fábio through a couple of friends we have in common, and he's a really nice guy. Just got lost in life. The real tragedy isn't the career he lost, was that he lost himself.

Yes Ronaldo was developed to adulthood properly by Sir Alex Fergusson. Sir Alex Fergusson kept coaching and displining Ronaldo for 6 years, that Ronaldo turned to one of greatest footballers ever and thats why Ronaldo thinks Fergusson is like father figure to him, while his actual father was drunk alcoholic who took in part in war, while his father still belived in Ronaldo and so Ronaldo cried, when his father never saw Ronaldo win Champions League. Yes its stupid that some over screaming leftist medias just hype these young players to give them a lot pressure and then they dont become as good as they thought they would become like Jesse Lingrad. If you see some young kid olay very well football. You can still shut up to tell the media to hype up this kid to give a lot pressure and make the kid known to everybody before his even adult. Its that 30 year old veteran footballers attention does not affect them, because their used to it, but young teenagers it do affect, when theit not used to it and too big overexcitment in their hearths can stop them to play so well football, when your just too excited every time your in pitch and thats why you cant play that well football.

What happened to this kid was ego, it all got to his head, everyone telling him he was the best player ever before he was even 18 years old. Imagine what that would do to a kids ego, by the time he's a adult, got a chip on his shoulder, ego much bigger than his drive to continue training and getting better. You're right, maybe it teaches us a lesson to be careful with praising/hyping youth players. Fabio Paim obviously is an extreme example given everything that happened off of the pitch, but Freddy Adu, Bojan Krkic, Pavel Morrison, and Kerlon all were wonderkids that never managed to fulfill their potential, mostly because of their mindsets, quite possibly caused by things just having gone way too easily in the youth ranks. As a result, they never really learned how to cope with disappointment very well, nor have they learned that sometimes they actually need to work hard to get things done.

The dude was doing bicycle kick goals on the cement floor for fun (besides other crazy stuff like unnatural ball control, unlimited dribbles, etc..). I've played with and against him a couple of times in a 5 vs 5 in a small town called Catujal, in Portugal. We were like 13-14 years old and you could see that he was something special.... Pitty but the most important is to take a life lesson from this.

Unfortunately, the world of football is littered with similar wasted talent stories across the globe. In one of my friends now ex-girlfriend being a cousin of his, one that resonates in particular is Ravel Morrison, who Sir Alex Ferguson no less has referred to as being one of the most gifted young footballers he'd ever dealt with.

"You can take your boy out the hood but you can't take the hood out the homie" Snoop D O double G Ronaldo was poor but was well raised. While at sporting he didnt get all the media attention, so it made it easy for him to continue with his focus. He wanted to be the best and since he arrived to sporting that he had that goal in mind and nothing else. Fabio paim on the other hand was born in a harsh environment, surrounded by bad people, media was all around him and because he wasn't raised that well he completely lost it.

Paim was an absolute monster when he was younger. At 16 he could have easily made some matches on the first team, but he lacked the mentality to do so; the talent however, he had way too much of it. I still remember when a Monday morning, me in 10th grade (Paim is a year older than me) having Phis. Ed as the first class of the day. My teacher was the head coach of Naval 1º de Maio's under-16 team, and they played Sporting that previous Sunday; I've never seen him so pissed. We knew he would play against them, and he had been extremely happy during the week, saying that they would most likely be able to snatch at least one point, because according to him, "Paim won't play, he rarely plays on smaller matches with teams that don't have a turf". Yeah well... He was pissed because Paim did start the game on the bench, the game was 0-0 and would likely end up like that (very closed game apparently, very few chances), until the last 10 minutes: Paim was subbed in, and after a goal kick favoring Sporting, he grabbed the ball (near his team's goal, mind you), passed by almost every single player from Naval's team and scored the 0-1 the game ended with.

Lionel Messi has already once retired from international football, with the Argentina national football team. He eventually returned to international football, but it hints that he isn't as mentally strong as Cristiano Ronaldo. Also Lionel Messi has already this season at PSG had a significant drop off in his goalscoring. With just 7 goals this season for PSG, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo still continues to score goals for Manchester United at at respectable rate and number with 18 goals so far.
