Over the last few days, there's been a huge amount of drama regarding three accounts, all of which were given completely custom made, personalised OptiFine capes. In just the week or so we've known about, there's been hacking attempts, exploits and many more things.
In this video I talk about all of these things, and more, with exclusive interviews and messages with the owners of these capes!

A bit of small clarification here: filefolder3's cape was designed by Jckt, but the elytra were designed by ZenithKnight, another moderator on the OptiFine server. (Jckt was busy, and hadn't had the time to complete it)

In the first couple of hours of this exploit, I was admining on Blockmania trying to avoid bringing attention to these capes and the exploit itself. Though that didn't last long and the exploit method spread like wildfire. The desperation for popularity is insane.

The desperation for popularity comes from the owners of the capes that don't want anyone else to have it. The community had the desperation of wanting something new and different that had been locked away from them.

On bedrock, there are ways to get your own custom cape, as well as HD custom capes

@@qwertty5939 bedrock is boring. If bedrock players gets offered to play java , Majority will choosr Java. Bedrock Edition isn't competitive and has bad pvp unlike java.

@@turtlejr8911 I respectfully disagree. I grew up with java, but i switched to bedrock because it was much better optimized. on my mid-grade laptop, i would get a solid 60fps in bedrock, but in java, it struggled with getting barely 15. having the ability to cross play and join my friends is also really important to me. i’d also argue that the pvp is better on bedrock because pulling off combos is much more difficult than bedrock 1.8, therefore needing much more skill. java 1.9 pvp is also the worst thing in the world, and probably a leading factor in why i switched. lastly, why does pvp matter? bedrock is super fun when you play in survival with friends.

I like how extremely outdated Optifine capes already are. They should update their cape system with some custom cape options similar to banner creation.

Ngl I would love to see optifine add hd capes but I understand that it is a pain to add the code even needed to handle it and the fact that the influx of users changing the capes to hd could cause crashes to the site and/or Minecraft servers

I met a guy on hypixel a few months ago, his name is therealokin, I noticed that he has one of these unique capes so I messaged him, he gave me my discord and we were writing for a while. He didn't have optifine installed so he didn't know why people were telling him that he has rare cape when he didn't. Many people told him that it's badlion cape but it's not. My friend also told me that everyone can create cape like that and I was curious, afterall thanks for this video because now I know it's very rare P.S he told me that he got his cape 2-3 years ago so yeah

There's actually a client that lets you make capes from PNGs. I remember using it for a little bit but very few people knew about it. Thus, only me and my brother saw each other's capes while we used the client. We didn't make capes because I didn't have Photoshop to use transparency to make the elytra models look good and my brother didn't care since we both quickly forgot about it.

Too should probably mention that normal optifine capes have a limit of 8 patterns, and you cannot include the Mojang logo (to prevent staff impersonation) so having a cape like that is something that not only looks good but also impossible to recreate

He had Sp614x change it. They are not changed very often because it’s hard for sp to actually implement them.

Mojang/Microsoft is missing out on a BIG opportunity in my opinion to make capes more accessible, People would go crazy for the ability to create their own custom capes, Clearly the ability to create high-quality capes IS there and is achievable, It truly is a shame that it's not being used to it's full potential because I think we would get to see some utterly amazing cape designs.
