Thank you for putting gang starr on this list. Premier is the best producer and dj in hip hop, no question. Also meshuggah was my go-to for workouts immediately after 90s hip hop was. Both have in common a steady groove that facilitates mindfulness during lifting. Old school death metal rocks for lifting, too, but you have to be mindful of the abrupt tempo changes. But if you know the song, yoy can ride the intense waves for some awesome sets. Opeth has been going recently for me, and its the same rhythm

Nothing like Gojira to get motivated to a dangerous degree. I almost hurt myself while lifting to Grind.

Funny you mentioned OAA because this past week or so I've been spamming their album Hikari a lot in the gym. I think Currents' albums Into Despair, The Way It Ends, and The Death We Seek are all amazing gym albums. The riffs are just nasty and overall absolutely crushing albums. Also Bryan Willie's lyrics cut deep and always inspire me to push harder during a set. Other great gym albums for me are Dying Wish - Symptoms of Survival Monuments - In Stasis and Amanuensis Invent Animate - Heavener Rivers of Nihil - Monarchy The Zenith Passage - Datalysium All of Sleep Token's albums aha Misery Signals - Controller Counterparts - A Eulogy for Those Still Here NeO - Citadel Vektor - Terminal Redux The Helix Nebula - Meridian StC - Odyssey to the West Some specific songs that really amp me up are Slugdge - Slave Goo World, Salt Thrower, A Putrid Fairytale Make Them Suffer - Doomswitch, Contraband, How to Survive a Funeral The Faceless - Leica Veil of Maya - Sever the Voices, It's Torn Away, Subject Zero Erra - Frosbite, Rebirth, Dementia, Breach, Snowblood, Gungrave Inferi - Maelstrom Prison Fallujah - Scar Queen, Prodigal Son, Lacuna, Into the Eventide, Artifacts, Sapphire Silent Planet - Iridescent, Anunnaki Periphery - Wax Wings, Everything is Fine, Dracul Gras, Sentient Glow, Satellites, Mile Zero, Luck As A Constant Crystal Lake - Agony, Sanctuary Nemophilia -Raitei, Enten, Change the World, Oiran Yohei Kimura - Omnislash

Drum & Bass will always be the best genre of electronic music to work out to. As for metal: Fear Factory, Emmure, Alpha Wolf, Knocked Loose, Pepiphery, Meshuggah, Sepultura old and new

About 15yrs ago, for cardio when I was injured and couldn't run and was stuck on just a bike, I took the resistance off (or very light) and tried keeping up with Dave Lombardo on Reign in Blood start to finish. Enough time shifts to keep it interesting and I knew the album enough to know where I was all the time. Like I said always "tried", not accomplished. Good times.

If you are a fan of Knocked Loose, the brother of the drummer Kevin Kaine is the vocalist of another hardcore band in my local music scene called Surfaced. Another great band from my local scene (sadly they broke up) is Ten Years Buried I think they have about 8 songs and may still be releasing the album they just recorded, it has a feat. from Sanguisagabogg. They started off as death metal and moved towards a hardcore sound and eventually sort of slam meets hardcore. The vocalist went back to his old band Blue Tongue, and the drummer from TYB joined and they are also Death metal but with a sort of older hardcore punk twist at least in their older sound, they opened for Crypta about a week or two ago.

Mathcore's syncopated rhythms always manage to give me this extra drive for the weirder the rhythm - the better the groove. Converge, Botch and Daughters (even though that is noise rock) are bands that make me push over my capabilities.
