Keep Carter. Cheaper than Reed and harder to find a great slot corner. Stiggers can fill on the outside next season in 25

Saw the Dj Reed interview where he said that he’s happy here and loves NY and his teammates and he isn’t tripping about money but that was his first free agency ; that he’s financially stable 👀

I like your take on it. Having too many good players to pay is a good problem but difficult decisions have to be made.

Love both players, but like you said - the best choice would be to extend MCII. He'll be cheaper, is younger, and is one of the top players at nickel. Also, there's something to be said about drafting, developing, and extending your players. From a team building POV, I imagine that's what GMs dream of. I wish we could find a way to keep both but at the very least, next years draft is going to be a lot deeper at CB than this year. Wouldn't shock me if we take one in the first 3 rounds.

Can’t sign everyone for big $$$. Extend Carter , Reed can be replaced by a another cheaper corner.

It also depends does Carter think he can play outside and make more maybe he hits fa and goes I’ll take my chances on the outside

There's another reason to keep Carter. The Jets starting defense is really nickel and they can do that because Reed is so good against the run that they don't lose much by keeping him on the field instead of a 3rd LB in running situations. Carter really doubles as very light 3rd linebacker and having a nickel that can do that is very valuable in the Jets scheme.

If the JETS do well and make a deep run in the playoffs, I would like to imagine Aaron taking a massive pay cut again to keep the majority of the team together.
