@@orenrob1914 That was one of the most magnificent games between the two teams ever. Even though SA lost at home, no Saffa felt hard done by because it was a beautifully reffed game with great enterprise on both sides that delivered nine tries.

The only other ref that i would say was on Nigel's level was Andre Watson, i thought he was the best ref Sa ever had.

I’m not a huge rugby fan, but Nigel gave a talk to open the Gemau Cymru a couple of years ago (my daughters are gymnasts and were competing). I didn’t know who he was really, but he was an excellent communicator and his words were quite inspiring. I hope that he enjoys his retirement from refereeing and the farming goes well, but isn’t lost to sport and the public. He has a lot to give.

Thanks for taking the time to run through your jerseys. They are all special. I have kept many of my cricketing jerseys, and display them proudly in my mancave bar. Looking at them from time to time evokes many emotions, but the one that satisfies me most is that the jersey is proof of the pudding that I actually acheived something which was highly significant to myself. As I age, they are a material timestamp of my life, and I feel proud of my past.

You are by far the most fairest and unbiased referee I have the pleasure and an honour to have had the opportunity as a passionate rugby union player/coach for 45 yrs. It is humble people as yourself has demonstrated and an ardent humanitarium volunteering, supporting and conducting programs aimed soley towards the under priviledged in poverty and isolated peoples. Love your work, as a leader and I would be glad to see NZ enter you into our rugby "Hall Of Fame" along with all the other greats of rugby where you belong.

Absolute respect! Being a referee I bet you will need some pretty thick skin because one bad call is like signing your own death warrant by the fans and to be on the field with some giants. Thank you Nigel!

He was just on another level. Just awesome. I he was the ref, you knew that the game would be decided by the players, not by a bothched call and that it would never get out of hand.

As a Rugby fan I am a little dismayed that I have only just discovered this channel, but super happy to watch Nigel talk about his jerseys and career. As an England supporter, when at Twickenham, we always had respect for Nigel, even if we did not agree with his decisions :-) A great guy and another superb ambassador for the sport.

As a welshman it makes me so proud that Nigel was 'ours'. An absolutely peerless referee in his time. Presiding WITH games, using his sensitive-but-distinctly-no-nonsense rugby touch, that I think, became utterly fantastic. With such a legacy, I'm convinced he'll be an inspiration forever. Can only hope I'll get to meet, and have a pint with him, someday!

Just listening to Mr. Owens talk for a few minutes, you can tell how much he loves and respects the game. Rugby fans and players understand what a master of his craft he was.

I know this might sound controversial on a rugby post,but I wish Nigel had reffed so many football matches. I love football but I'd loved to see him put the divers in their place! I'm English 🏴 but Wales has a national treasure!!!!!

As a South African supporter.. There were times that I hated Nigel Owens There were times I loved him There were times I felt sorry for him.. Those were all between a win and loss as a normal supporter.. But never has this man brought himself disrecord by any of his actions both on and off field. For that I salute the master! I agree with some.. Nigel should be knighted! His contribution to rugby far outweighs the likes of clive woodworks..
