I bought a set of AT2’s because of great reviews and they look aggressive but they’re decent. They slip a bit on wet roads and I drive casually. As for snow they did ok, we got about a foot of snow maybe a little more here in Seattle last year and I thought it was on par with my stock tires. My AT2’s are only about 9 months old. I’ll try the Nitto Ridge Grapplers next.

Great comparison video! I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with their long bed, running an Icon Stage-3 suspension all around on 265/75/R16 Toyo Open Country MT's. The Tacoma is my daily driver and run the MT's because I love the aggressive look its gives the truck, plus it's great for off-road too obviously...as far a road noise, I don't really find that to be an issue for me. What are your thoughts running these tires over snowy/icy mountain passes?
@cadennorris9605 жыл бұрын
I got nitto terra grapplers 33” on my 2013 Silverado 1500 and I got about 100,000 miles on them not lying. Nitto has them where the inner tire is shallower so they get to like 0 tread but the inner tire is at like 7% that’s my only complaint but they say it’s to help in wet conditions. They’ve been an amazing tire recommend for 2wd trucks that don’t wanna look dumb on mud tires but still have a good look.

@camwalt.41972 жыл бұрын
The open country s/ts live up to that 60k mile mark bc the compound is super hard and tough. Terrible wet traction though. my old, slow 02 silverado roasts them with less than half throttle. Good for pretty aggressive offroad as well. Keep in mind they are some of the loudest tires I've had thar weren't boggers, they do not ride smooth at all compared to a highway/street/or real all terrain tire, and the hard offroad compound is bad in rainy weather. I can't count the amount of times I've started peeling out under 10mph turning onto or off of wet roads

I can't say enough good about the open country a/t... I had Cooper Discoverer A/Ts before, and they were loud and "walked"... I hated them... The Toyo Open Country A/Ts are quiet, effective in mud, and every day driving.... That said, we don't get much snow where I live! ;-P so I can't speak to that facet, but I have been extremely pleased with them. Toyo also makes the Nitto Terra Grappler, which I would expect to perform about the same.

@sama.78704 жыл бұрын
so the only thing you really say about the C/T is that it's a snow tire, but you didn't mention anything about what the C/T means. According to Toyo the C/T is a 'Commercial Terrain' tire - that is what distinguishes this tire from the others in the Open Country series. The C/T seems to be primarily a heavy duty *towing* tire for folks that haul a heavy trailer/camper/flatbed year round (all-seasons) and through any kind of road or trail (all terrain), in other words a year-round HD towing tire capable of handling large (commercial) loads, at least that's the way Toyo explained it. We're putting a set of these on our 06 Cummins 2500 srw truck - we were looking for a really strong tire to handle the weight and stresses of high-torque highway use...and be tough enough to handle the unimproved dirt/rocky camping and off-road access trails. Didn't want a tire for '4-wheeling' the Ram itself - we wanted an all-season/HD towing tire that can handle both the highway trip to the trails as well as the mild/rocky access roads, and I believe these C/T's are 'it'.

Not a real number. The meaning is of a lot. Means a lot of something. Also isn't it the compound that makes a tire good or bad in the wet. I've seen f1 cars doing 160mph in the rain. I'm sure siping has a lot to do with it. But I have also seen f1 cars put slicks on just as the rain stops and the track is still very wet. So no siping slicks has to mean compound is maybe more important. I ran a couple sets of cooper zeons ltz for a few years. By far the best wet a.t tire I've ever used.

@@mtnmosin2740 I've been looking to try and find the M-55 in 255/85r16, target price would be about $250. Been waiting a year, guess I'll wait more or get something else. Really want to try it though. Not too much out there on user feedback.
