Early guesses: Inconsistent writing that changes to drag the story on (Refusing to help Ayaka just to go back to her to help anyways for example). Lack of any consistent personality (Doing all sort of bad things yet having the audacity to act holier-than-thou when someone else does the same), gaslighting "villains" even if they're right, being an empty shell that does what Paimon wants and have no character of their own, having a tendency to be so disconnected from the player that players stop caring about their motivations and goals.

One thing that confuses me is that they seemed to ‘befriend’ Childe who’s still a member of the fatui, yet upon meeting Lyney & Lynette become almost dismissive of what explanation they wish to provide seeing as they learn of the faction they’re secretly apart of. Yeah how dare you guys be a part of that group meanwhile I’ve adventured with the 11th member?

@@FMLN92 here's something that dumbfounded me, in the Tanit World Quest series, The Aranara World Series (Optional), and some hidden world quest where you hunt down members of a former sword play school in Inazuma, Traveler ended up committing murder despite not needing to. Traveler also did some terrible things, like the Saimon hidden quest where they constantly threaten some NPC to get some treasure they don't deserve. It's baffling how Traveler can act so immoral, but apparently just being a Fatui, even if you do nothing bad, is still a great sin to them.

@@FMLN92I think there are many logical answers to this. Firstly, when the traveler meets Childe, they immediately don’t like him because he’s Fatui and even make a fighting stance to prepare to fight him. Childe makes it clear that he doesn’t wish any ill on them and I think it’s then the traveler starts to realize that there are morally grey people in Teyvat. (I’m sure they already knew that about people but, just stating it from where we started with them in the game.) A chill guy in a pretty Notorious organization? Let’s feel this out. Then, they have their battle in the Golden House and of course, the Traveler is not a fan of him at the moment. At the end of the archon quest, we meet with Zhongli and end up seeing Childe and Signora, two people in the fatui that we do not like. But, Zhongli is there, and they now know he is the Geo Archon and they see him relinquishing his Gnosis to harbingers. They probably trust Zhongli a fair amount because they got to know each other throughout the whole AQ. So, they withstand being in the same room as two people they do not trust or like, and allow them to leave unharmed. Then, the traveler meets Childe again during his story quest and they get to see another side of him. That side is as an older brother. And even though they don’t like him, they take on helping him with Teucer. It’s then, the traveler, is again, shown that people are more than just black or white, bad or good. Seeing that new side of Childe, as an older brother, perhaps puts some things into perspective for them. They can probably assume that there are some lines he won’t cross because he has things and people he cares about. They especially know that specific role, since they have a sibling as well. After that, they’ve known him for a while now and continue seeing him throughout events, quests, etc. Even in one of the last Inazuma events, we warn Yoimiya about Childe because he’s not completely trustworthy. So, yes we’re cool with him now, but we still know what he is capable of. With Lyney and Lynette, we meet them, and we’re pretty cool with them right off the bat. They help us out when meeting Furina and it’s pretty smooth sailing so far. Then, they are suspected of being involved in the murder and disappearance of two people. The traveler immediately puts themselves up to defend them, even after not knowing them that long. But, when you are in court, especially under such serious charges, the other side is going to bring up everything about you, especially if it helps to fit you in the box of being guilty. So, the way the traveler found out they were Fatui was not in a good way. And even more than that, Lyney and Lynette hid it from them as well because they knew it might make the traveler see the twins differently. But the traveler is sticking their necks out for them to keep them from being framed and they didn’t think it would be crucial to share such an important detail? Because even though there are “morally grey” people in the Fatui, it’s still an organization that has done and does many bad things all around Teyvat. So, it makes sense the traveler would not be happy with Fatui members, in general. Especially those who try to hide it. Even with Wanderer, they were never set on being friends to begin with. Wanderer and Childe were honest about who they were, from the start. And they ended up becoming on good-ish terms with the traveler through many circumstances. So essentially, it’s just time, communication and circumstance. Also, the traveler ends up forgiving the twins, which I was happy about, but it makes sense that they were initially upset with them. The traveler even still defended them during the trial, while not fully trusting them.

It’s interesting seeing this analysis. I think the real purpose of the traveler’s journey is to actually experience the true nature of this world. All of its people, in all of the regions, all of its secrets and of course, the truth of what happened to them and their sibling. So, while they were set on only speaking with the Archon to find their sibling in Inazuma, that would not have been possible anyway, because Ei was not actively acting as the Archon. And once Ayaka told the traveler to see the effects losing visions had on people, they sympathized and decided to help out. That also got them closer to the archon, the same one they had questions for. Sounds like pretty solid writing to me. It’s inconsistent that a character changes their mind? Sounds exactly what like real people do, everyday. As for the acting holier than thou, I don’t think the traveler believes they are above anyone else. They are pretty cool with Childe and Wanderer, and now have met Arlecchino, [and Lyney, Lynette and Freminet]. All people from a notorious organization that causes chaos all around Teyvat. They know there’s a grey area with certain people. But, the traveler does not intentionally try to hurt people. We have seen more than enough times that they are the hero in many people’s stories. They may not be perfect but, there’s a limit to the things they would do. And there are measures to things. Even if I steal candy from the store, it is not equivalent to you stealing a car. We both stole, but I will still point out that your crime most likely has much of a greater impact and sentimentality behind it. I don’t think I’m better than you, but I’m definitely not as bad. And that’s a fair assessment to make. I respect your reasonings, but I don’t agree and I’ve never stopped caring about the traveler or their goals. Even as the game progresses, they make the traveler speak more, do more thinking analyses that don’t involve Paimon and even quests without her. Just because they are silent doesn’t mean they’re uninteresting.

Each nation in Teyvat have their own alphabet and language and yet, the traveler enters them seemingly already well versed and understanding everyone around them. They enter Fontaine and have no issue communicating to two npc’s, the twins, and Furina. When did they learn about Fontaine’s language so quickly? Even that concept that I would argue is a plot hole, (seeing how every playable character who visits a nation understands each other automatically esp in quest events) is it really entertaining seeing the main protagonist stand lifelessly and have two dialogue options that dont impact anything in the narrative? I mean the two options often formulate a single sentence yet they give us two options why? Splendid vid as always!💜✨

There are traditional alphabet and language in each nation, but people in Teyvat simply use the universal language across the continent to speak and talk. @@roweginmendoza9703 Hold on, if Traveler only can understand one language, which is the same one they share with Paimon, then how come Traveler can be fine without her? In the ending of Venti's Story Quest, Traveler tricked Paimon to go away so they can talk solely with Venti. During Sumeru, Traveler had few times where they talked with Nahida without needing Paimon's help. They once spoke with Scaramouche and even managed to understand and speak to Chlothar and Alphonso without Paimon's presence. Traveler was also able to understand Furina in her memories without Paimon either. There were many times that Traveler was able to speak with others without Paimon being there to translate.

After watching: You're mostly correct, except for the game being Gacha being the reason the Traveler is an empty shell; The Trailblazer of Honkai: Star Rail starts like the Traveler as a silent protagonist protagonist, but they don't have an end-game goal like The Traveler. However, as the game progress, the Trailblazer starts speaking more and more, to the point that during the latest two main quests, the Trailblazer is speaking so often that you'd forgot that they're a silent protagonist. Moreover, The Trailblazer is quiet during group talk, but they're very expressive and talkative in text messages. The Trailblazer shows a consistent personality throughout, while Traveler RARELY speaks outside of cutscenes on top of having a very inconsistent personality that only changes whenever the writer wants to drag the story on. The Traveler can be more expressive, they can be more talkative, it's that the Genshin team chooses not to, and instead of listening to feedback, they'd rather throw a jab or two at the player by making meta jokes about why the Traveler doesn't speak.

A Fanfiction writer here and recently(well not really, more like almost a year ago) realized that if they actually made an Anime, it would best be something like this: "Traveler's Journey" series, self explanatory. "Archon+Nation" (side) series, like "Barbatos/Venti and Mondstadt", "Morax/Zhongli and Liyue" etc, telling stories of those nations, their Archons and people. Stories that we couldn't see with the Traveler, since even if they did make a lot of friends in their journey, the relationships between different characters still exist and some are also way stronger, while others clearly need to sit down and talk already(like Diluc and Kaeya, Jean and Barbara, Diona and her father etc). And yes, I am currently writing a series about (alternative universe) Venti and Mondstadt, with Identity Reveal included. It also became way, way longer than I initially expected it to be...

By the way, I think the Main Story got a little changed or at least altered somewhat, after the Traveler had their little Short Reunion with their Sibling, one of the Main Goals are still finding their Sibling, but the reason is different. Also, while I might not necessarily play the Game myself, I can still say I do care about the Story.

the CEO of Mihoyo said himself on the interview back around 2012 that they more focus on player see their character like "idol", they aim desperate player with parasocial relationship which is why their main selling point are gacha over lore, their lore become rather stale each new story and area expansion. the worse excuse I saw was "almost everything hoyo does has meaning even if it's insignificant" so by that logic they think that little butterfly you see around are the downfall of Teyvat which I even bet these people gonna say it lol. This game are in the very sad state as if when you give the game any creative idea they will punish you for some reason which is sadly alot of modern game companies have this type of mindset and their consumer eat it as if they act like NPC.

Sadly the most interesting bits about the traveler are all in the traveler’s character profile voice lines. He speaks of some struggles, fears, learning things and letting out alot of jokes here and there. He also shares somethings from his previous travels but unfortunately you can’t hear them all unless you want to be invested in his lore. Another thing, about hoyoverse using the traveler as an empty shell. Hoyoverse usually gives alot of personality to their MCs, the evidence of this is Kiana, trailblazer and Rosa from Tears of themis. (We dont talk about post kiana MC). All of them grow all through out the story. Maybe the Traveler being a descender is just secretive, he knows alot of worlds outside of teyvat and yet he never mentions them. It makes me think he doesnt want teyvat’s people get existential. I mean the knowledge of celestia’s crimes causes them to have corrosion . Theres also lore about Traveler in the ps4 genshin impact launch exclusive wing-glider that seemingly talks about a person outside of teyvat that the traveler knows.

Compared to HI3rd's protagonist Kiana and HSR's Trailblazer, the Traveler does indeed disappoint. How is it that we go from a well rounded, complex, and self-realized protagonist that goes through so much pain and development and eventually becomes GOD To an almost voiceless canvas whose dialogue is replaced by a chattering mascot that barely does anything to help us in combat? All of HI3rd's characters, even the nonplayable ones, all have interesting personalities and backstories. Sora, a random kid from the Nagazora arc, gets more dialogue and personality than the Traveler. The only time any of the protagonists became voiceless was during Mei's Elysian Realm arc, but her VA was on maternity leave. There is no reason for the Traveler to be this quiet. Heck, even the Trailblazer gets voiced lines in throwaway scenes.

It's so frustrating because the potential is there for a good MC character. Hoyo is doing it with the Trailblazer in HSR. At first, the Trailblazer is definitely a stand-in for the audience, but the writers dropped little hints of the Trailblazer's personality (i.e., the trashcan obsession thing) through the first parts of the story. Now, we've started to see the development of the Trailblazer as an actual character. They've begun to actually talk more, and we can listen in on their thoughts as to what is going on in the story. Also, their decisions actually have an, although small, impact in the story! (i.e., being able to entirely refuse Kafka's quest to help her break out Blade.) I wouldn't be surprised if the Trailblazer's personality is fleshed out a lot more in the upcoming Penacony story. The potential is there but for some reason the Genshin dev team refuses to put in the effort. Hoyo itself probably doesn't even care as long as the money keeps rolling in. It's a shame.

I feel that with the release of sumeru and fontaine with their tech based society is very otherworldy to the medival fantasy world. Like how come people in monstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma live in old shacks and fish in canoes meanwhile in Sumeru they have cyborgs and head implants. Its so thematically different. @@darkmatter9651 Gotta to add to that; Genshin's plot is way too ambitious, and they have often throw in things stuff way too late. For example you have the elemental dragons, and the other Descenders being shoved into the lore around version 2.4 and not before, and even then they weren't introduced in the main story, they were in some obscure notes that you have to read in some side quest that you have to go out of your way to do. The traveler is a character I really like but I realize I like the fanon version of them not the canon version. I like the version that explores their history and character because as characters these two could be very interesting. They are other worldly beings of which we know nearly nothing about. It's hinted in the game they could be thousands of years old but we know nothing of their history, their goals, their sibling relationship. Them not speaking of course makes this far harder to ahcieve but they could show these things through flashbacks or their nonvoiced lines with other characters. As for Aether/Lumine's silence, it could easily be written off as a consequence of something bigger instead of clearly being for budget reasons. I understand the reasoning for the lack of voiced lines but they could have bent the story to make it make sense. Maybe because they travel from world to world they are actually considered history books of a sort. They land on these world's to witness some of history then leave being meant not to interact with the people of that world for some reason whether it's a rule they must follow or just a promise they made to each other. Maybe the traveler began involving themselves directly with this world to find their sibling at first and then continued to interact after seeing their sibling had broken their rule. However they are still hesitant so they refrain from speaking much only doing what they feel they have to to accomplish their goal. I feel like a story like this could have easily given a great explanation for the traveler but hoyoverse did not take the time to think this out and it really does damage the story. I hope at some point they will give the traveler this much needed lore and personality but considering we are already in Fontaine I'm having strong doubts at this point

While in Traveler's case, morality is so random.. Sometimes Traveler is so self-centered, hypocrital and acts holier-than-thou, which causes the opposite effect.

If u talk abt genshin lore Welp genshin lore has big different from HI3 when most of genshin lore come from world quest (chain) which is abt history of places ( AQ and story quest also gib some information but it mostly talk abt the main story and character) and i like genshin work on places lore becuz its so gud ngl The character lore is also perfect like how furina was work on (beside the traveller is meh i hope they care more abt my man) but the most interesting part abt genshin lore is still history of places in ma opinions

@@AnTran-fd1pn I believe the issue refered to is how the protagonists of HI3 are day and night different compared to Traveler. They are sticking to their goals, but they keep their morality in check. The characters know what's right and wrong, and while their personalities slowly change across the story, it's not as sudden and abrupt like the Traveler does. Moreover, the HI3 stay mostly consistent, while in Genshin Impact the Traveler can be way too inconsistent, switching from kind hearted to absolutely immoral between quests and updates. The biggest issue is how unlike HI3 characters, The Traveler is inconsistent about finding their Twin, and their morality is just as inconsistent, which makes them hard to relate to. Doesn't help that most of Traveler's character is denied by Paimon taking a far bigger role in the story than the Traveler themselves.

I respect everything that you've said ! Though, I'm more playing Genshin for the story. I actually remember the plot, understand globally the lore etc... I have my own issues with the Traveler that I'll explain below. But first, let me just say one thing : 8:08 The main goal of the Traveler is actually not to "find" their sibling anymore. We actually did find them, and they told us our new goal since pre-Inazuma was now to travel around Teyvat and understand how the world works. Our quest right now is to understand, to collect more information on Teyvat (its gods, Archons, Dragon Sovereigns, Gnosis, Visions, Khaenri'ah, the elements, the wars, Celestia, the Abyss, the Descenders, the Primordial One, the Travelers' lore...), not necessarily to find our sibling, but to try and get where they're coming from. And when the Traveler will have a full, complete understanding of Teyvat's true nature as a world, that's when they'll reunite with their sibling and make a choice. Some people forget that, or some people actually got that but forgot the Traveler's other goal and think they absolutely don't care about their twin anymore. Which is false, just because they didn't ask Neuvillette about their sibling in Act 5 doesn't mean they didn't do it earlier (in act 2, remember yall ?). But anyway, now going to my issue with the Traveler. I never was bothered by the Traveler being a silent protagonist, although I definitely get where everyone is coming from. It just doesn't bother me somehow, I guess I'm used to it. I can't decide whether I see them as a self-insert or not. Maybe semi-self-insert would be my definition of them, as we can choose some options of dialogues between two or three, choose their names and birthday, but at the same time, they have their own story, goal, personality, morals and sometimes, the dialogue options are basically the same. Now my issue with them actually mainly stands in their personality. HoYo seems to mold, change the Traveler in a way that fits their narratives for a certain scenario. Inazuma could be an example, although I'd say that their short reunion with their sibling deeply affected them, which is why they just wanted to wrap everything up, learn quickly some info from Ei and then leave. But a first example I would bring would be with Ei, talk about the Devil. Now, I was part of the people who didn't like Ei's character at all at the beginning. And I mean Ei, not the Shogun. I did not like her first Story Quest and basically how Inazuma unfolded so quickly, but anyway. My problem is, Ei has done many bad things accross the years, made the Traveler waste their time with a civil war they had to stop, witness their first death (of someone they were familiar with), and the Traveler made it clear they didn't agree with her methods at all during their meeting in act 3. Now, next thing we know, we casually hang out in her story quest a week later. The Traveler even mocks Paimon for being scared of the Shogun that tried to kill them a week earlier, and is super friendly and warm to Ei all of a sudden. And that's just not something I can understand in another way as "we need to make Ei likeable so that people would pay for her more." But it is so disgustingly sweet and forced, even by Yae Miko's remarks here and there about Ei being "so cute", "like a little girl crying without her desserts", that I absolutely despised it. This was not how the Traveler would normally act, at least from how I understand their character. I've actually reconciled with Ei's character thanks to her second story quest, which actually showed Ei and the Traveler truly bond with them both losing a twin and how Ei tries to change for the better. The Traveler wasn't so forcefully friendly with her, it was normal. Next example of it would be with Scaramouche. The Traveler never had the greatest relationship with him, as he tried to kill them multiple times, and it's perfectly fine and logical. Even when they first learned of his backstory, their facial expression still didn't seem empathetic towards him one bit, and that's okay. Then, in Act 5, they actually show sympathy towards him. I was like "oh, ok ?", I love Scara's character, but I didn't expect the Traveler to show him some wish to help here. It's explained by the fact Scara also seemed milder in that scene in a sense, but I digress. What we need to remember here is that the Traveler actually wished to help Scaramouche, cared for his safety, warned him that he was probably making the wrong choice, and Scaramouche, although being his usual sassy self, actually let them speak, listened to them and was *almost* touched by their worry. His fight later on has never been about them either, it was supposed to be a fight between him and Nahida, not the Traveler. He even mocked Nahida for "taking the Traveler as a human shield" and "pretend to save and protect them" later on. Next thing we know : the Traveler, aware of his trauma, that he thinks he was never enough to be worth something in the eyes of his own mother, that he always felt useless inside his "heart", never able to protect and save those he had once cared about, the same Traveler that showed empathy and a worry for him and his safety, says : "So he tossed you out like trash ?" When he explains he was probably abandoned by the Fatui. Like, alright ? Why so aggressive, so intentionally hurtful when you know he doesn't have anything personal against you, when you know Nahida has him under control, when you had sympathy for him before and right after your fight with him during the previous quest ?

I get that the Traveler wouldn't do a 180 like they did with Ei. But just a cold demeanor with an underlayer of sympathy for him that they would only show in specific moments would have been enough. This was so unbelievably mean of them, I really had a hard time when I read that line. It is justified because of all the horrible things he's done, but it's not consistent with the Traveler's attitude. Next, of course, Lyney and Lynette. Granted, there is an explanation for it, but it did surprise a lot of us how the Traveler now easily talks with Childe their first day in Fontaine after not seeing him for maybe a few years (if we don't count that one event that some players have missed) after Liyue's Archon Quest, and are totally ok and friendly with him. And then, when they realized two strangers they just met actually did not tell them absolutely each and every details of their lives in the bare 48 hours of knowing each other, their world crumbles ! I'm exaggerating, of course. As I said, there's an explanation for this one, it is both justified and consistent (kind of, if you don't count Childe) : The Traveler just went through how horrible the Fatui were even with members of their own organization with Dottore and Scaramouche. Even if they are friends with a few of them, their mind is not very clear and pretty biased at this point. Finding out Lyney had purposefully withstanded his identity as a Fatuus to them broke their trust, not because he is a Fatuus, but because he hid it from them. It's the very action of lying, hiding and manipulating, just like Dottore did to Scaramouche, that led them to be so mad at him and Lynette. And even then, they did try to be gradually softer with them both across Fontaine's story, it was nice to see. But the point is, it still surprised many players. And then, the greatest joke ever : Furina. The Traveler can be a very understanding person when they *want to.* In Navia's Story Quest, they shushed Paimon down when she clumsily asked Navia about her mother, they showed care for her throughout her quest, which is perfectly understandable and consistent with how their relationship with Navia always has been since Act 1 of Fontaine. They've been showing worry and care for other characters, telling them not to force themselves when they were hurt and tried to walk though I don't remember the exact quests, but you get the idea. So we're not going to force other people, and we're going to actually respect other people's trauma and difficult experiences. But not for YOU, Furina (and not for Scaramouche either, at least she ain't alone I guess.) But if it was at the very least justified with Scaramouche, with Furina, it is neither justified nor consistent. Just what has she done so wrong for them to treat her like this ? That one time when she challenged them into a duel and immediately panicked when they pulled out their sword ? Big threat. How she actually seemed thrilled to be against them in a trial, during which they were not the accused, but just the lawyer because they chose to be ? Wow. Because she chose to continue to suffer by devotion to her country instead of giving herself a tiny bit of rest, and during which, when they saw what she actually thought in her mind, they looked sad for her and had empathy ? Soooo uncool. Silliness aside, the Traveler really did show empathy for her in her inner world, the way they looked at her during that final scene and when she did her final dance before them was just sad and heartbreaking. And then next thing we know : so we know you're traumatized and all by acting, but could you do this one role ? "No thanks." "Cmooooon! The director has financial problems, and he'll be so sad, and it'll be all your fault, and your house looks so cheap btw lmfao you don't even know how to cook." "I literally just said no" "The director is going to be soooooo disappointed" "I said no !" "Alright alright, geez, it's not like we're bullying you or guilt tripping you or anything, calm down 🙄💅" That's how I saw their dialogue, basically. They were being so manipulative towards her, it was disgusting. Then of course, all the hurtful little comments during the quest towards her, that even led her to highlight she actually was making some efforts here, and that they should try and do the same. Or during the recent event with the Furina award for films. In which Chiori had the "fantastic" idea to manipulate Furina into working in the film industry again with them, by saying things like "we should buy her a gift" (guilt if she refuses), "give her lots of compliments" (manipulation). It was neither cute or funny to me, and I hated how the scene unfolded later on with how the Traveler completely agrees to do as she says. That's my problem with them. TLDR : Traveler is sometimes shown as an inconsistent character, that can go from empathetic, understanding and very likable, to downright manipulative, intentionally hurtful, and completely disrespectful and oblivious to other characters' feelings.

@@kiyomi_kamimoto here's a joke. Navia was given multiple scenes where she cries and be upset, to which Traveler and Paimon properly treated her and acted in such a caring manner. While in Furina, Paimon was being extremely insensitive, and Traveler goes "That's Paimon's way of showing she cares.", which is ironic because Paimon never acted that way with Navia. In the end, Furina's trauma gets removed in a very forced manner. But then Navia gets a brand new reason to cry out of nowhere (this time it's her mother that she knew nothing about), and guess what.. She gets treated better than Furina yet again. And in the very same update, all Furina gets is "Paimon guesses she's still traumatized.." It's painful that some people (reddit) try to make up reasons to justify how Furina was mistreated, while ignoring how Navia was treated better on multiple occasions, to the point that people say.. That Furina needs some "tough love" or something, and that showing her some care will make things worse. Which is a complete hypocrisy when you look at Navia.

@@user-so4ov7re3s Exactly. Though, with time and a beginning of analysis on her character, I do find a little logic in Furina's acting trauma "removal". It is not as forced as I or many people thought it was at first sight, at least with the few reasonings I made. But I definitely cannot approve the treatment Furina gets compared to other characters, and just in general the way the Traveler is being handled by the writers. They are so inconsistent from a quest or character to another, and though I can understand we can behave differenty with different people around us, doing a 180 on the same character is just not realistic nor consistent. (If you want to read a brief resume of my take on Furina's trauma's "disappearance" or "inconsistency") Basically, what I interpreted was : Foçalorina always saw the human world/life as a performance in an opera, "In my eyes, to be human is to be part of the greatest opera ever known.", and always yearned to be part of it, to find her own role into the grand theater of life. But when she got transformed into a human by Egeria, she got casted the responsibilities of the Hydro Archon's successor, hence her life as a human was doomed. She was forced an identity, a role by someone else who couldn't let her define who she really was. (Maybe there's a reason why we never knew her name back then.) But as this was the only thing that could make her feel as "someone", have a sort of identity and role to her own even if that's not what she wanted, she couldn't refuse and fully devoted herself to that role. "But one can only deal with what one is dealt. I did not choose this, any more than I chose to be one of Egeria's Oceanid familiars." When Furina and Foçalor became separated, Foçalor erased on purpose any memory aside from the prophecy in her body and spirit's mind so that she could be a blank slate, and in turn, also be forced to endoce a role "What's going on ? I can't seem to remember anything clearly. The only thing I know for sure is this prophecy." Both of them saw the human world as a stage to play on, and thought that being part of it could help them find themselves. But neither of them could, as they were both trapped in the role of an Archon. This was forced upon both of them, Furina had to play the girl who played the Archon, and Foçalor the divinity who was devoted to her people. In her final moments, Foçalor dances as if it was a way for her to try and be human for once in her life, to try and find, be herself. (She notices she's afraid of death, and reflects on whether this is something she may have in common with a human. She then tells Neuvillette she hoped he enjoyed the part he played in her scheme, his role, a role she never got to have, of trying to understand one's self by observing humans and living with them. She then breaks into a dance, a performance - performance in an opera being what she thinks is equivalent to a human's life, to try and pretend she's got to be herself at least once, before shedding tears during her bow as she knows this isn't real and will never get to be someone, ever. In a sense, Furina is the one who was "born" yet never got to "live", and Foçalor was the one who was never even granted the chance to be "born".) At her death, Furina is freed of this role, and is asked to live the life of a human they've always yearned for. Since to them both, being human is like performing on stage, Furina has and always had a passion for acting, by extension, an admiration for human life. In her story quest, she starts off as this empty shell of herself who is completely lost, not knowing what she can do or who she can be. After all, her previous identity as the girl who played the part of the Archon of the prophecy is gone, it's dead. She knows she wants to be herself and nobody else from now on, but she didn't know for a long time who that self of hers was. "Perhaps she was once a girl who did not much enjoy laughter. Perhaps she had once been the sort to give up on herself at the first sign of difficulty, but such emotions had already slipped away, bit by bit." Through the quest, by finally playing the role of her own life as a human, she discovers stories that were hidden to her before, and thanks to them, starts to understand herself a little more. In the end, she does play a role for a relatively short amount of time compared to her centuries of torture, and is actually given credit for it. (First announced as Amelie, before being revealed as Furina + having a gift that we can guess is from Neuvillette under the form of a vision, that belonged not to her previous role or as the character she just played as it was no prop, but to her. "But during the actual performance, a real Vision appeared, and it belonged to Furina.") She's playing a character as herself, she's not a conditioned identity playing a role anymore, she's just herself : "The reason I can now stand before the crowd's watchful gaze is perhaps because I have finally started to act as myself." So it's a difference, she definitely wouldn't let anyone else define who she is today, the trauma isn't "gone". She's just realizing another perspective of it. It's kind of a rebirth, if you will, a new identity, a new being has emerged in her, her own self. (Can be linked to Jesus and all for the one who got resurrected and can walk on water.) It was also unclear in her story quest, but even if Furina managed to see the world and herself in another light to play this one role for a short instant, she seems to now prefer to be in the industry without being on stage, like the recent event of her working as a film-director. "Performing had, in the past, brought her much pain, to the point where she had turned her back on the stage, but she indubitably understood the glory and brilliance of the stage best of all, and could give those who chase their dreams on the stage her matchless guidance and support. As to the question of what to do next, which had plagued her for so long, she now had a clear answer: To see this world from the perspective of the audience, and create the greatest performances without stepping onstage. No longer would her attention be focused only on musicals - as long as it's related to performance, Furina is interested in taking part from behind the curtain." At least that's what I can gather from her voicelines and what we could hear and see in game.

@@prattaydey2603 Yes, but even the millions of Mora the Traveler has doesn't hold a candle to either of those. Diluc is a tycoon who is the top of the Wine Industry in all of Mondstadt, so much so that the wine he makes is popular in many nations. It is mostly available to the high class due to how expensive a singular bottle is. (Implied by the manga at least.) If a bottle is considered very expensive, try to imagine the profits brought by being able to brew barrels upon barrels of said wine. Being able to produce Teyvat famous, very expensive barrels of wine, and being able to sell it to the Nation of WINE and Song, and import it to other nations, At the very least, Diluc should be a Billionaire. Ningguang on the other hand is even richer than Diluc, her official description is "The Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing. Her wealth is unsurpassed in all of Teyvat.". This is evident by how she was able to afford to build the Jade Palace, a highly expensive FLOATING MANSION, twice. Traveler's millions of Mora is chump change compared to Diluc, and it's nothing compared to Ningguang.

I mean I think the whole story of Genshin is not a about the Traveller but rather the "Old Gods Impact"(aka the translation of Genshin's name) it's more about the world story itself rather than the Traveller I mean if it's about them then we should have gotten more about their background like the world they come from, Other worlds they visit or other family member the Traveller are just lense for us to see the story of the world of Teyvat and that is why I think makes it more interesting rather than a character driven story it's a world building driven story, character driven story is more focus on the "chosen one" troupe "your the destined one" we already know what will happen with the story the mc will kill the demon lord but it's how he will do it that pull us in of how his choices affects the story and how he'll grow from it While World driven story is about the world itself it has a story that will happen even if you're not part of it and will continue to exist after you leave it in theses kind of story usually a small and useless mc's choice can bring a domino effect it just happens that the mc in genshin is a strong alien that can rival gods but they follow the troupe of world driven story mc of not having a detailed background and nor a world shaking ambition to start their quest I mean they just want to find their twin and continue travelling it just happens to be that the sibling became the "demon lord"

Also I don't know about anyone else, but I LOVE Aether, he is my favourite character from the start and till the end ❤ I can separate his poor writing from his true potential and what he could've been instead. I can see his personality and all. And I bet I'm not alone. Many people like Aether and Lumine and there are many many fans of them. It's not that the characters are bad, it's only the writing is bad. And there is actually many other characters who have the same issue - a bad writing, poor story quest and stuff like that. Like Kokomi for example. We still didn't really had to see what a genius she is. But it doesn't mean that she doesn't have fans around her. What about Raiden? Are all of you satisfied with how her story had been resolved? Hoyo made many mistakes and making MC a self insert who can't speak for himself was one of them. But they clearly try to get better. I have a big hope that Ufotable will make a nice anime where they will make a story way better including MC writing 🎉 I really hope so. PS. And no. Anime won't be about archin war, that was a fake leaks, they didn't even had any script yet when that leak came out so stop pushing this nonsense 😞

Dude who tf forget about the dainsleif quests? thats why ive stuck with the game for so long. I want to see how the main plot evolves - what is the deal with the abyss order, your sibling and dainsleif himself, as well as Celestia above, etc. As someone interested in that, im thinking of the self contained narratives of the separate nations as that, incidental quests that coincide within the same world that slowly build toward the central narrative as well as developing world building. I think its quite presumptuous that a number of players aren't engaged with that. As for the protagonists, while they're almost characterless, i think the sibling has at least hints of massive development behind the scenes. They were hinted as being naive as your own traveller, but unravelling the secrets of Teyvat made them side with the antagonists, the Abyss Order. While they may flunk the development in the future - it's hard to say - it does drum up a lot of intrigue. its like the game is intentionally pulling the wool over your eyes, and speaking for myself I'm interested how it could unfold. We found cold truths like celestia cursing the whole population in fontaine, starting the archon war, using dragon bodies to channel power to their newly appointed gods (with the 7 gnosis). With them intentionally antagonising the gods it makes you understand your brother/sisters motivation even when you haven't seen them on screen much at all. One more thing, its slightly ironic you mention No_Tables considering in many of the videos they take the voice lines from the protagonist's profile. I know this stuff shouldn't be buried and hidden away, but the personality, technically, is there. Its the animation's source.
