So glad to hear that. Did you have your interview yet? Good luck! The truth is that many citizens (born here) should review the basics that we learned back in elementary school! I've had the thought that there should be a short quiz of just 3 questions before someone can vote. For example: (1) Name the current president and vice president. (2) Name the three branches of the US government. (3) How many stars are on the US flag and why? The citizenship exam is much harder than that.

99% is excellent! Well done both of you. I think there should be a short quiz before someone votes to prove they're of sound mind and know something about the government of country they live in. It doesn't have to be as hard as the one you took, but I think everyone voting should be able to answer these questions: 1. Who is the current President and Vice President? 2. How long does a President serve? 3. What are the three branches of the U.S. Government? 4. What kind of government do we have?

@@Englishwithjennifer Jennifer, thank you so much! I got your idea. I'm so sorry, but it seems to me, that is a philosophical question. For instance, I believe that we are being born with human rights at the original. So, nothing can restrict or lessen them. I have no proof of it. It is my opinion only. The school must give knowledge to people before they vote.

I knew about the justices in the supreme court, the representatives in the house of representatives and about the senators in the senate, but I hear politicians talking about congress men and women. Is this a fourth body of people who help pass laws?
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
No, but good question. I didn't include all the titles, so maybe I should have! We can address a member of the Senate as "Senator." We can can call a member of the House "Congressman" or "Congressswoman."
@stunninglad1
@stunninglad1 3 жыл бұрын
@@Englishwithjennifer I thought that was the case. We don't seem to hear much from the congress women and congress men. However, we hear from the senators a lot: Senator Sanders and Senator Warren are considered progressive Democrats. They are household names because they ran for president. We also have governors and mayors. Some towns are so small that they don't have a human mayor. I know of one that has a dog as its mayor - Quite rightly so, too :>)
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. I heard a story like that in the U.S. somewhere. A small town elected a dog to be the mayor. No human candidate was appealing. Maybe that's what we need at a higher level. A nice likeable Golden Retriever.
