I made mine myself, but used a manual 6 speed. If that radiator is from Allisport I bet you’ll be replacing it soon, I bought one for mine and sent it back 3 times for leaks. Then gave up with them and used a standard LR pre 200tdi rad with twin fans, which has been perfect even in heavy traffic and very hot weather. Allisport was £800, LR one was £80... If you haven’t done so already I’d very strongly recommend upgrading all 3 differentials to Ashcroft ATB’s, makes it far more able to handle the power on and off road.

Most just glaze over the challenges of marrying old vehicle architecture with modern powertrain performance...I appreciated the acknowledgement that "this is still an agricultural vehicle" that requires a rolling launch. Spectacular.

I like the colour, Keswick green is the best, I trust you have several layers of security on this. I’ve turned my Defender into a mobile fortress.

Looks and sounds great. I recently did an engine swap from a V8 discovery in my defender. I managed to trash my transfer box having some fun in fields, seems you need to drift and slide it with the diff lock on!

As much as I love V8s (I've had three Defender 90 V8s)...all Defenders should have a 300 Tdi or the Td5. It just suits it for what the 'car' is. A Defender is a utility vehicle, not a sports car, and should have a suitable grunty diesel engine. It looks nice, but I would have preferred the diesel - each to their own.

What do you mean that everything you do you have to build up slowly, and 'ease' into it or it just won't take it? You should be able to just dump the pedal to the boards and have all that Chevy muscle take care of the rest and do the work for you! Also, if you think that's power, you want to try it with a manual cog sack instead. It'd give you a third more power again, and up the economy! Nice package all the same.
