I had my Vevor 5kw ordered and shipped when you did your Wippro review. I wish I had seen your review before ordering my Vevor. I think if you bumped up the Wippro to the same heat output as the Vevor it will probably have the same watt and diesel consumption.

But since most of us have a problem with excessive heat output, the Wippro's Xlow setting is the winner. You can turn Wippro up if needed. You can't save the fuel or power with the Vevor when you need to open the windows. Thank you for the review. This is going to be a game changer on my Express. Ground mount this winter, weather cabinet on the LR door by next year. I still have to get over my phobia of cutting holes in the steel.

I started with a Vevor, had no issues so I ordered another for another purpose. Family members have loved them too, so I've ordered one for my dad and one of my daughter. So far on the 2nd year in, no problems with any of the 4 Vevors I've set up. They get used quite a bit about 4 months out of the year and run just about non stop.

So it seems like the Wippro has a lower, "LOW" setting resulting in lower fuel and power consumption but curious if that will ultimately result soot build up in the combustion chamber? It's my understanding that it's better for longevity of the heater if they are running at med to high settings for the majority of use?

Thanks for doing this comparison, two things I would like to see is the temperature at the end of a 10 foot hose this would show the fan function of each unit, secondly I’m wondering how long these each would run on lead acid batteries of around 235-265 amp hours.

I have been really interested in diesel heaters but haven't figured out how to duct it onto my fifth wheel yet. I have 10.5kWh of lithium and 2000w of solar, so my furnace is the only thing left that is not electric. a dual ducted version would be great to have an intake from inside the rv and an outlet for connecting to the rv ducting. Ill have to see what my 3d printer skills can come up with.

On low the Vevor lasted about 10% less than the wippro while running about 10% hotter, this may account for the difference. On high the vevor was cooler but ran longer. Also you didn't check the cfm of the fans, if one has a higher cfm than the other, this could account for the difference in amperage draw.

The pump and the control box would possibly be the culprits too. That "aftermarket" quiet pump could draw more than the original one.

You are 100% right, unless you are able to set both units in frequency mode HZ to determine what pulse rate the pumps are supplying fuel and at what RPM the fan speed is set to you can't give a fair comparison on fuel consumption. Both set to "low" doesn't mean anything if one is delivering fuel at 1.4HZ 1450 rpm and the other is 1.7HZ 1650 rpm, further to that the dosing pumps could be totally different, they range from 16ml, 22ml or even 26ml. Good video overall but to be accurate and scientific all things must be equal when doing a comparison.

You can do this way easier. Usually the little pump inside pulls 0.022 ml/click. You just have to count the amount of clicks it gives in 1 minute and you can calculate how much fuel you will use. I'm sure you will come to the exact times you did in this video (without using all the fuel).

Inside the front end of the combustion tube on these heaters where the fuel and air mix together there is a stainless steel vaporising mesh. If you run on waste engine oil the contaminants in the oil will clog up the mesh with carbon deposits and eventually wreck the vaporiser mesh and stop the combustor from working. The design of these burners is specifically for efficient burning of lighter fuel oils such as diesel(32 second gas oil) or central heating oil(28 second oil sometimes known as kerosene)

Use the 80% rule. You want your device to only draw 80% of the max output of the power supply. If you round the watt draw shown for high up to 35 watts, you would need at least a 50 watt 12 volt power supply. The good news is that converting the 110 to 12v DC is going to generate heat so it will help the heater heat the room.

Since these share pretty much the same burner, and fuel pump, comparisons are kinda moot. If one uses less fuel, it puts out less heat. but nonetheless they are pretty efficient and good at what they do. I think Vevor buys from several suppliers as they have units in the same case with the same ratings at different pricing.
@GoldenCroc

I am sorry, but I dont agree with your usage of "efficiency" at all. You seem to be using it instead of saying "consumption", which is what you tested. Pedantic some might say, but in that case I would disagree, since it totally changes the nature and outcome of the test. Lots of people in the comments seemingly have conflated it as well, likely leading to faulty conclusions. I dont see you testing the heating ability (taking a temperature reading the way you did also doesnt say necessarily say anything, sadly). Think about it, if you get 2kw unit, wrongly branded as a 5kw unit, with a slow moving fan and small heatsink of the burner, it would win this comparison easily, since the 2kw vs 5kw output consumes less fuel, and the heatsink that you measure the temperature of would heat up more with less area/mass and slower airflow over it. Cheers mate.

Seems like a wasteful concept just to burn diesel to heat, running the same diesel through a generator would result in the same amount of heat but with the added benefit of power? Maybe? Your thoughts?
@kimmer6
@kimmer6 5 ай бұрын
A diesel generator is the inefficient unit. Using diesel to throw away exhaust heat and wasting heat with cooling fins, having a generator that emits heat and finally produces electricity is more wasteful. Then there is the noise and exhaust smell to deal with. I have several Onan gen sets and several Chinese diesel heaters. When the diesel heaters are at operating temperature, there is almost no exhaust odor detectable. On a side note, I have a Chinese diesel heater operating right now that runs 24/7 and had exhaust heat recovery to maximize the efficiency. I can't imagine running a diesel engine at 2AM in this neighborhood.
@travishodges5179
@travishodges5179 5 ай бұрын
Agreed, the appropriate technology hasn’t been applied to make it desirable, but application of teg cells to the waste heat of the unit could at least make it self powering. A kids lunch box size of thermal energy generator cells would be more than enough to cover the power consumption of the unit Indefinitely and provide power to the battery for reserve

Technically you can't legitimately speak of efficiency when you don't factor in all the data. Just because one runs longer on a gallon of fuel does not automatically mean it is more efficient when you fail to measure heat output properly or when you observe heat output difference between the 2 but then ignore it when you go to summarize efficiency between the 2. All that is probably happening is one puts out more heat on low than the other, and it does not mean it is more efficient it just means it is operating on a lower setting. In other words one has a lower low setting than the other, that is all that is happening mainly. Listen, if they both put out the SAME heat output on low but one runs longer on the same amount of fuel, then NOW you can legitimately claim efficiency is better on the one that used less fuel. Thanks for the information. I would prefer the lower low setting(the Wippro) because this way i can use it without having to cycle it on and off when i don't need that much heat, but can still flip to high if temps outside get colder.

You are not pointing your laser in the center of the Vevor if you were it would read 215 to 221 and that is 25 degrees hotter than the Wippro and the Vevro blows harder than the Wippro add those two thing together and that is a lot of BTU s more for 26 solid hrs.. Also if allege that the vevor uses more watts then why did you hook the Vevor to the old small power station. The only way to find out which one uses more power is hook it to the same power station. An Old burnt out tiny 500 watt power station is for 26 hrs is not a fair test. It would appear in the end it is all the same in BTU land . Both heater produce the same BTU s for the money in fuel.
