Good video, I was thinking about joining till 4:06 if I'm paying a subscription I want all of the content, or at least a hell of a lot more than 19 cars, more than half of which I have zero interest in. Kiss my ass I racing. There's 43 cars in ACC, all of them are cars I want to drive. I pay a one time fee which is less than the 2 year i racing fee and I can drive them infinite years, not just 2. Either do a one time payment for I racing and you have to buy "DLC" or a do subscription service that gives you all the content. NOT BOTH This is worse than activision micro transactions. This unprecedented level of greed completely turned me off.

How much from nothing to racing?
@robinv1485
@robinv1485 9 ай бұрын
I thought the same, the difference is acc is going to stop being updated and die, and then you'll have to pay for a new release, there's a reason iRacing is still the most played sim after so many years. AC2 comes early next year, you'll buy the game and then the expansion packs. What you're paying in iRacing is for continuous development, and the best multiplayer experience in the market. Besides the obvious differences, what you might not expect is the cost filters people. You don't want to be banned cause you're paying a sub and everything, and you invest more in cars because you paid for them, which leads to a better experience. I was a bit apprehensive because of how much people said they were spending since even the sub costs are more than what I have free after my expenses, but tbh I spend less in iRacing than buying 1 game yearly. Just be sure to not buy the sub without a discount, always buy in black friday deals for that 60% off. And get the tracks in bundles for the discount. Eventually you also get perma discounts. But it also depends, if you don't care about the cars and different series, and want a specific series like GT3, then yes, ACC will be better for cheaper, it gives you all you want, and you can use third party multiplayer to get a close enough multiplayer experience to iracing. That being said, I do believe specifically the track prices should be lower because they lock you out of stuff. Every new season changes the tracks and if you don't have it you can't run certain series even if you have the cars. That just feels plain bad for me as a newcomer. I understand that once you get the most popular tracks it's a non issue, but for new players that want to play other stuff than the rookies, every 3 months it's almost obligatory to purchase tracks. I know they'd be losing money, they didn't even make a profit until a year or so back. But I'd take a hit on the tracks and increase a bit the sub and car prices. Iracing is a game that leaves me feeling like an hypocrite bc for any other game, I wouldn't play it just due to my ideals against aggressive live services and microtransactions, but it works so well and in favor for it that I feel that it's not only justified, I'd actually recommend it. If I had to make a comparison it would be poker, ever played poker without cash at stake? it's still the same game, but people don't play like actual poker because there are no stakes, you also lose a sense of progression, it's the same.@@justinheld5393

I did rallying irl and work as an instructor for ammateurs. I found your channel, realised I know absolutely nothing about driving, got myself a rig and just won my first race in iracing. I know Assetto Corsa quite well and compete in time attack at a local SIM center and it's insane how much better iracing is. Just sitting in the pits and turning the wheel was like whoa, that's the tyre deforming.

Another quality video mate, even after being on iRacing on and off for nearly 2 years, I learnt a few things myself. Might I add: When calibrating the clutch, only put your foot down to the % you would normally use the engage the clutch bite point in a real car. iRacing only engages the clutch when you put your foot down 100%, which is not logical IRL. I actually put my foot down so it shows about 40-50%. It make my changes much smoother, and allows me to speed shift with my H-pattern. Cheers again, still can't believe some of the info you give out for nothing. You're a hero to us noobs 😁 👍👍

WOW! I learned more about the fine points of auto racing by watching your video than I could have ever imagined. Your knowledge of the handling characteristics of so many different cars blew me away. I'm 75 years old, never played a video game (other than PacMan) and thought I would enjoy getting involved in sim racing, but after watching your beginner video introduction, I can see I'm so far behind the learning curve that it would be a waste of time and money for me to get started. All the customizing screens take so much time and effort that I wonder if I could ever get past the test track. I do have a much better understanding of the skill needed to drive a modern race car and your video will help me appreciate watching Formula 1 races on TV in the upcoming weeks. Your video was AMAZING! I now know what rotating is and how it differs from steering. Even at 75, this old computer engineer can still learn new stuff. THANK YOU for sharing your skill and knowledge on KZfaq.

I wouldn't let the complexities of iRacing stop you from getting into such a wonderful sport. There are other racing sim options out there that will afford you the thrill of racing without the complex setup. It can get as easy as buying a PS5 and racing in Gran Turismo 7 or Forza Motorsport on PC (both super easy to launch and play), or doing custom races in Automobilista 2 with your favorite car class against the AI (also easy to setup). Start with those and progress your way into something iRacing if you want to take multiplayer a little more serious. Yes, iRacing can be a little intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, it'll become second nature.

@RyKnocks THANK YOU for your reply and suggestions. I did buy a Logitech G29 when it was on sale for Prime Days at Amazon. I have been doing all my races on Assetto Corsa as it was suggested to start there. I have driven over 100 hotlaps at Highlands track and finally I'm starting to know where the turns are and how fast I can go around each turn and what gear to use. As I follow the AI cars around the track, I can see that I start each turn too early and hit the apex too early as well. I'm now trying to learn how to enter the turn later to hit the perfect apex. My next move will be to try to learn trail braking by watching the pedal display on my monitor. THANK YOU again for sharing your suggestions with me.

I have one question by the way: So why, under track conditions. If there is more usage, there is less grip? Correct me if im wrong, but should'nt it be the other way around? In RL they always say if there have been more cars driving around the track, they leave rubber on track, which creates more grip. So why is it the other way around in IRacing? Just curious.

I honestly never thought I'd join iRacing as I'm more of a casual drifter with the occasional Nord session with some friends on Assetto. But with the 15 year anniversary sale I couldn't pass up the 60% discount. I was still a little skeptical but once I hopped into a test drive I realized immediately my purchase was well worth it. As some returning to iRacing after a few year break, I appreciate this video very much. I think iRacing may have updated the settings since this video was posted. There is now an “intensity” setting under force feedback in the settings menu. Do you know how this setting works and do you have a recommended starting point? The game defaults to 50%, which is what I’ll start with. Just curious if you had some more insight to what this changes.

Lando Norris said on a semi-recent stream that he always leaves the racing line on until he knows the track really well.

I’d like to see a video this in depth about basic racing etiquette. I don’t know how many times I’ve ran down a driver many seconds ahead of me and pass them cleanly and by the next corner they just plow right through me. Rejoining is another topic, there are so many geniuses out there A driver gets in a wreck or spins, tries to rejoin the track and the first person that driver gets near is who the driver takes their revenge on, amazing shit. Related, if you spun in turn 2, you ARE NOT going to make up your loss in turn 3. Be patient, if you are fast you will get you spots back Lots of drivers learn the impact strengths of a certain car, a driver uses a mx5 different then a Vee. Seems like drivers that race fender cars have more tendency to use the car as a weapon and open wheel racers actually race. I’ve gained more SR in a VEE then in probably any other road car I’ve raced, probably because people understand the Vee do not accept contact very well. Those are just some examples

Hi Suellio, as you recommended putting the wheel force at 10Nm and then using the auto feature. Does that mean when using e a DD1 (with 20Nm), I would also set it to 50% FFB strength in the Fanatec software?

Look up down is usefull especially le down one when you set your FOV in graphics settings. In my case i got a single screen 23.6inch curved 1500R at 700mm off my screen so when i drive formula one or car with display on steering wheel, i don't see it so i have to bind this button. But the up button i really don't know why...
