The War on Drugs has been a failure of epic proportions. Not only does it cost U.S. taxpayers over $50 billion/year to maintain, but it has created the very issues it purports to combat. In today's video, we'll explore the history and the consequences of the drug war -as well as evidence to suggest that it may have been a lie from the start.

@@swisstrader Yeah.. apparently you can't even make "fleeting references" to sensitive subject matter without getting demonetized. Magic mushrooms are ok (thank god for me) -- but I can't talk about antidepressants, big pharma, the drug war, LSD, or apparently "any terrorist attacks besides 9/11" .. without getting demonetized (which also suppresses my views cuz KZfaq can't take a cut from the ads). Very good work, thank you. And yes it continues, (the nonsense of this war on drugs ). I was a youth during the Vietnam war, and saw the atrocities, the hypocrisy, and the powers that be’s hubris. I was thoroughly disgusted by this, still am. Fortunately the tide is turning. I live in Colorado, and in the Denver area where cannabis is legal, and shroom decriminalized. I have talked with a few law enforcement agents on this subject, and the conclusion is that there is much less crime because of this. Unfortunately opioids and meth and feta means, (spell check even has a hard time with this;) are still a big problem here. And still the people of color are disproportionately jail and convicted, even though many more rural whites are in the grips of addiction and distribution. It’s crazy. Again thank you for going to a hard place to hear. You are brave. Btw, I have cancer, and micro dose shrooms. It helps with the anxiety of having a potential deadly disease. Fortunately through diet, supplements, conventional and unconventional treatments, and the realization that we all will die someday I’m very close to remission. And yes mushrooms have been a big part in this. Imho, mushrooms both medicinal, and magic are a wonderful tool in leveraging health and well-being.

Thank you for your comment and observations (they make the research I've done seem more "real," that's for sure). It's so affirming to see that you (someone with much more life experience than me) see what I see. It gives me confidence to continue to use my voice! I'm also very sorry to hear about your condition but am heartened to hear that you're almost in remission. I would bet your mood/ general sense of well-being contributes a lot to this! I've read that feelings of loneliness/despair contribute to a sense of chronic "fight or flight" (which causes inflammation in the body).

The more you make opposition to the war on drugs about people whose politics you don't like and the more you accuse those of supporting it of racism, the more you harden resistance to bringing it to an end. Whether you consider yourself morally superior to those who support it isn't the issue, there is plenty of justification for bringing it to an end just for humanitarian and practical reasons. No need for posing.

I haven't :/ I mostly focused on the U.S. b/c it's ground zero and the issues seem to be more intensified there. Their private prison industry is a multi-billion dollar industry... Canada, on the other hand, only has 1 private prison! The way it should be. I'm not saying we don't have our own issues, but it certainly seems like our issues aren't quite as bad because we haven't given in as much to monied interests. I hope things stay this way ♥

History repeats itself. The war on alcohol in the 1920s was a total failure, leading to men like Al Capone, more poisoned people, and more violence and deaths. It ended during the 1930s depression, when more tax money was needed. From what I hear, in Colorado most still buy illegal marijuana, because it has no taxes and costs less, and they often have a dealer they have bought from for decades and trust.

The 'war on drugs' is by so many measures a tragic failure, but I'm concerned about the solutions being proposed and enacted by state government. I don't think there has been enough public debate over the best path forward... Should we legalize certain drugs and benefit from added tax revenues? ... Should we instead decriminalize certain drugs and re-allocate budget funding to rehabilitation of drug users? ... Should there be an effort to reform drug policy where there is a proper balance of both legalization and decriminalization?
@JulianneKeu
@JulianneKeu 3 жыл бұрын
I’m Canadian (as you know). In Canada, we do not have a private prison industry. That to me just makes the most sense. When you outsource a basic function of the State to private corporations, you can expect that over time, they will seek to maximize their profits. That, right there, is a fundamental conflict of interest. When it comes to correcting blatant human rights abuses, we don’t have to get so philosophical. Either you’re ok with business as usual, or you’re not
@Portugal_Pete
@Portugal_Pete 3 жыл бұрын
@@JulianneKeu So true... the conflict of interests surrounding private prisons is obvious to anyone willing to stop and understand how the private prison economy functions. Any person of good faith can see the perversion of a business model that seeks to capture and hold people who are nothing more than a source of a government subsidy... and where inmate rehabilitation is bad for future revenues. I pray that more people become aware of the societal disaster that is the privatization of correctional facilities. I lived in the states(CT) for almost 30 yrs... and I now live in Portugal where much has been discussed about the successes of drug decriminalization and harm-reduction. I can't help but compare the drug policies practiced in these two worlds I've known, and I fear that, in seeking alternatives to the horrible drug policies in the U.S., not enough debate is being done about decriminalization+treatment versus drug legalization. I have hope that people are starting to realize that treating people versus incarcerating them helps everyone in the long run. Cheers! (Wonderful video, btw!)
@JulianneKeu
@JulianneKeu 3 жыл бұрын
@@Portugal_Pete I see your point... personally, I would love to see any sort of debate happen at all. The problem is, I don't think decriminalization (at the very least) is a priority for the federal government (not even for the new Biden administration). By the way, have you read the book Skin in the Game by Nassim Nicholas Taleb? It really solidified my cynically optimistic view of the world (if you could even call it that) ha! Hope life is treating you well over there in Portugal.

Hey! Hope you are doing well. Got a few things for you (another long read if you get to this.) 1st - you do something to your hair? (Looks great!) 2nd - do you edit your own videos? (Love the evolution of your style!) 3rd - Ima jump into the meat of this now. The more and more I learn on this subject, the more I start to see the vast amount of ‘conspiracies’ that are actually truths. When you go down the rabbit hole, it’s hard to relate to the sleeping world that surrounds us. If the truth is something you seek, I encourage you to go deeper into “why” and less of the “how” this ‘war’ has progressed over the past 60 years. The evolution of the lies are masqueraded around as half truths. Even the things in which we try to learn are clouded with false teachings and are intended to keep us distracted from the actual answers. When you wake up, things don’t appear ‘right’ anymore do they? Something is different and you can’t quite put your finger on it. You walk around and begin to wonder why everyone is spinning in circles when it feels like you are on a conveyor belt going past them. I realize this when I see the same personality type over and over again, but I’ll digress on this for now and come back to my message towards this video. Thank you for your research you have done and the amount of work you have put into conveying this message to your followers that may still be asleep but on the journey. Unfortunately it goes back further, and when you start to see it...it becomes a reality you wish were a nightmare you could wake up from. I got to that point and realized something: when wisdom is given, action is required. Anyways - I pray that as you learn, you won’t take to heart the atrocities that we have been taught to accept as good things. Follow your spirit to whatever is kind, whatever is peaceful, what asks for nothing and offers love. Be well!
@JulianneKeu
@JulianneKeu 3 жыл бұрын
The "why" is greed. It's corporate interests. It's "the ends justify the means." *When wisdom is given, action is required* - what a profound quote and so true.
