Thank you for clarifying that the wiki isn't a source, I've always found it odd that the whole fandom considers Sol's backstory as fully canon, when in the text, I feel like it's pretty clear that he's lying to get sympathy from Leafstar! Let me back this up actually When Sol meets Leafstar, he greets her like any cat that has heard about wild cats living nearby: "You're one of those wild cats that live in the gorge, right?" and Leafstar explains "It's Skyclan. That's the name of our group. And I'm their leader, Leafstar." But Sol doesn't even seem to care about the name Skyclan at all and just goes "You don't look like much of a leader right now. Are those your kits?" A bit later, right before Leafstar is found by the clan and rescued, Sol asks "All this energy you spend, wanting to get back to your clan. What's so great about it?" Again, he doesn't seem concerned about Skyclan in the slightest. Then, after failing to become a warrior, he tells his story. "I've known about Skyclan since before I've opened my eyes.", after his story he says "But when you showed up, and I found out the clan had returned... I just... couldn't believe it. Skyclan was real. I'd finally get to be a part of it!" Wow gee, Sol, you didn't really seem that excited about Skyclan when you first heard about it. We know that Sol is a manipulator, it's clear he is spinning a story to get sympathy from Leafstar, because he so desperately wants to become a warrior. He even throws a tantrum later when he is denied that title, clearly he doesn't think being a warrior of Skyclan is something honorable, he just wants to get his way! And I don't think this is bad writing or a mistake either, it's very in character for him to be manipulative, it seems very intentional. It's not the wiki's fault for listing his family and writing down Sol's backstory, they're just doing their job of noting down any information - the problem here is that people look at the wiki, just take these things as fact and then that info spreads. And I think it's very interesting that no one has ever brought up this specific thing, especially cause it's in so much media regarding Sol. And while Cinders' mate and Sol's siblings have gotten names - they were named by Su Susann and I believe that is very much non-canon! If I got any of this wrong, feel free to correct me!

I’ve always found it so stupid that the Erins rely on fans [actual teenagers] to give correct information for their books…who does that? I understand it’s a big series but there’s spreadsheets and google docs the Erins could use instead of perpetuating a cyclical misinformation trend. One Erin says something that contradicts something else, some mod puts it on the wiki, the authors assume it’s right and they roll with it.. and then we end up with brown tabby Ivypool. Is this the best y’all can do?

fyi the original cites/author statements that the wiki sourced before using the website are still there. You just have to sift through an individual page's history. And get lucky that someone made a backuplink of the original source if you manage to find it. But the point is - if something has been sourced from a facebook post or whatever initially, you can still find that link in the wiki, even if it's not on the current page anymore and there's a chance it doesn't work anymore and wasn't backupped

FYI, the "cyclical citation hellscape" you describe for the Warriors Wiki is a known phenomenon on actual Wikipedia as well. It's called "citogenesis" and is a subtype of a broader mass media issue known as "circular reporting", when news sources just copy each other's claims without investigating the original source of the claim (or lack thereof) for themselves. It's good to stay educated on how this can enable misinformation and bias even in seemingly reliable sources - including, for Warrior Cats specifically, the official website, author statements, and probably even the books themselves by this point (many of which already contain objectively incorrect or contradictory information, so adding citogenesis to the mix can't help).

I have a question for new or younger fans: how do you guys read all the books? Like, there are almost 8 arcs and other material. If someone is getting into the series now, that's a HUGE commitment! Like, where do you start reading and how do you have the time to read it all? I'm genuinely curious. Like, I started with The New Prophecy then read POT, OOTS, and then the original series all BEFORE A Vision of Shadows came out. I read that and then the broken code and I JUST NOW finally finished Dawn of the clans a week ago after almost 10 years of being into warriors!! So, what do y'all do? 😂

This is a good video, i can admit sometimes I've fallen for summaries, taking what was said at face value (i do not do that anymore) the best place to get info is from the books themselves.
