I’ve been eating oatmeal almost every morning (1/2 cup rolled) for at least 20 years. I’m an athletic physically fit 68 year old man. Healthy and trim (my pant size is a 31). I’m not on any prescribed medications. My oatmeal recipes are varied and delicious. One of my favorite meals.

Oatmeal is a great alternative to what some folks eat for breakfast - if people would give up the high sugar cereals and doughnuts etc... and eat more oatmeal mixed with flax seeds or chia seeds, they would be 10X more healthy and thats a fact jack! I don't care what Gundry or anyone says about this!

Should I give up smoking as well as the sugar. I’m 75, been to the doctor once in my life, and I’m quite healthy. If giving up the things I like would cause me to live a few years longer, why would I want that considering I would be miserable for that time. I enjoy my cigarettes and my sugar and I value quality of life more than quantity.
@Krispy1011

@@Rick-da-scale If what you are saying is true - you are special case as the majority who smoke and over eat sugar products are in very poor health in their later life years and you know that is true. Good luck to you and your health and fitness. to others I say, eat right and exercise regularly and do what your doctor tells you to do as far as diet and exercise.
@Rick-da-scale
@Rick-da-scale Жыл бұрын
@@Krispy1011 So I don’t have a doctor. You’re probably right that I’m luckier than most. However a lot of people think that smoking automatically gets everyone. It doesn’t. Old 1940s American comedian, George Burns had a whiskey and a cigar on stage as part of his act. He always said he would live to 100 and he did, he died a few days after his 100th birthday. On his 92nd birthday, a lady interviewed him and said, “Mr Burns, now that you’ve turned 92, don’t you think it’s about time you gave up smoking and drinking?” He said, “Two doctors have told me that, ………and they’re both dead.” Unbeknown to a lot of people the mind controls the body not the other way around. The subconscious mind is extremely powerful, proven by the fact that the hypochondriac, the person who worries themselves stupid about getting a sickness or disease, in some cases do actually get what they worry about. That’s the power of the subconscious mind, and so if you do the reverse and believe you won’t get sick, the S.C mind will make that happen. It’s related to self belief. There is no top sports person who does not fully believe in themselves. The belief comes first and then the skill. I can talk myself out of headaches. If you read books on the subconscious mind you will be amazed. 🇦🇺🦘

it‘s bad! They would have survived longer and healthier! Let me guess, they died by heart attack or not recovering from fever (damaged immune system). My grand uncle had a completely dissolved hip bone. His doctor had told him to stop any salt intake. That produces mineral deficiency because the body will take salt and minerals from the bones. He suffered in bed at home for two years with heavy pain and drugs. My great aunt is alive and her mineral levels are better. But she is plagued by skin cancers. A few weeks ago they cut a part of her lip away. She is still so proud about her oatmeal (lectins) and fruit (fructose) breakfast. 🫣 I know other other examples where high consumption made somebody neurotic because the lectins inflame not only blood vessels everywhere, but harm neurons too. The guy was in hospital with age of 20+ Please rethink and inform yourselves my friends. We don’t need so much carbohydrates anyway. Our body is so efficient to produce glucose from fatty acids, protein, some glucose foods for a break if rich in polyphenols (taste!). 🙏❤🙏

@vknight7497

He’s not full of it. The science in this is clear. The shit was originally pigslop to fatten the livestock for slaughter. Then they realized they could pump it full of addictive, poisonous sugar and market it as “healthy”. We are foremost carnivores. Our ancestral diet is 90% meat from following migrating herds. That’s why meat, especially liver and other organs, are the most nutritious food you can eat and your body can readily digest it. Your body has to process plants a certain way before it can absorb any nutrients. Plants are full of defensive mechanisms that create inflammation and deposit oxalates. When you chew broccoli, the breaking of the cell walls releases chemicals that combine to form a bio equivalent of arsenic. The science on this is overwhelming now.

The FDA banned partially hydrogenated oils (margarine) back in 2016. As of today we STILL have PHO in desserts being sold. Why is Dr. Gundry not addressing this? This is also why I do not have much faith in the FDA & I have more faith in chemists like the late Fred Kummerow from Univ of Illinois who battled the FDA over the ban of PHO for many years.

Sure if the police get lucky and solve a murder or protect someone from getting raped or worse. Rice Krispies and other rice cereals, even just regular hot cooked rice tend to have less added sugar, but they're still a grain/carb, so they can still cause the blood sugar spike. It's hard for me to completely ditch carbs, and I think in the long run, eating a less processed carb, is a better option than a highly processed carb. eg. eating overnight oats vs. eating special K.

@@JGdnP So here is an interesting truth I learned some years ago. The subconscious mind controls the body and that can be proven by the hypochondriac. This is the person who worries something fierce about getting a sickness/disease etc. it’s documented that a number of these people actually get what they worry about. So they are feeding their subconscious mind with powerful negativity. If you do the opposite the SC mind reacts accordingly. So I eat whatever I like regardless of whether it is supposedly healthy or unhealthy. It’s also related to believing in yourself. If you can develop self belief the SC mind will react to that. A great little proverb that I heard was, “If you think you CAN, or you think you CAN’T………YOU’RE RIGHT.” Either way. It’s like a top sports person who doesn’t believe in themselves. There is no such animal. Many great books on the subject delve into this a lot further. Cheers.

Stop eating what you like and start liking what you eat and know what you are eating and why. I know it can be a tough lifestyle change. I stopped all sugar, alcohol, fast carbs, potatoes junk food etc for a year and a half. On the other side of that time I could not eat most of those items again as I liked what I was eating. Now be gone even farther away from carbs and am pretty much carnivore with a bit of fruit with my meat in the morning. Best shape of my life.
