Ppl that insinuate nu metal and metal core kept the genre alive since the 90s just dont dig deep enough. They like the mainstream shit. Loads of good death and black metals evolved the sound the sound thru that time. Even just last year there were genre definingn and evolving albums coming out like grave pilgrim. Ppl just dont dig enough before they start talking
@pripyat23
@pripyat23 5 ай бұрын
My hot take on this hot take is that Nu metal absolutely kept the genre alive by getting maybe 1/10 to 1/5 of those people interested in actual non casual metal. There's a reason Korn copied a Morbid Angel breakdown. Metalcore on the other hand resulted in getting people listening to non casual metal a little bit, but pretty much all of those people went on to create music that isn't metal, but it's much closer to it than Nu metal ever was. EDIT: Also the fact that was only a fraction of people that listened to Nu metal that were like this is the reason Metal had such a hard time in the 2010s. Those people were all in their 20's at the time. There could have been a lot more musicians but most of the Nu metal fans were basically Juggalos that wanted to listen to harder music.

@@apoplexiamusicOriginal metallic hardcore was very clearly hardcore leaning and every band back then will tell you that they’re hardcore. At some point we started mislabeling bands that have little to no metal influence in them as “metalcore”, starting right around the myspace era to be specific, but continuing into the 2020s. My opinion on some of the Megadeth covers: Megadeth’s original cover of These Boots is not bad but rather mediocre. The second cover of These Boots is much better (the one where Chris Poland goes off). “I ain’t superstitious” is massively underrated, it’s pretty good but just like Mustaine’s voice it’s an acquired taste. You’ve got to give it a couple of listen. Anarchy is a great song. I might be biased, but I prefer it over the original. The best Megadeth cover has to be “Paranoid”.

This might be a hot take but I don’t really consider SOP to be a true death album. It was conceived as a Control denied album but released as death. The lineup is practically the same as control denied except Chuck sang on SOP. And chuck went higher with his vocal on SOP. He clearly never intended for it to be a death album but the label wanted one more death record. Maybe chuck would have revisited death but he was done with the moniker when he passed. SOP is a great record but it sits in its own space. It’s not really death and it’s not really control denied. It’s unique in the chuck catalog.

To be honest I don't know why people like to do this. To virtually "separate" albums from discographies purely because they "don't sound like the band" or "it was written for other projects". I don't see helping or bringing any new argument to the table unless to defend or roast an album. Which again, doesn't make sense because the quality of an album is decided by their music and contemporaneity. That being said, SOP absolutely deserves to be put in Death's discography

Why do people feel like metalica, after putting out the best metal in history , should somehow be able to top everything they have done and to ride with that same fire their entire careers ? What they have done is legendary .how can you top that ? And how can we expect them to consistantly do it ? We are fans thats it . Our needs or prefrences should be irrelavant . Bands owe us nothing and people have just lost respect for musicians due to their egos and crybaby mentalities . God forbid metallica just have fun and take it easy and god forbid any human from trying something new or exploring other genres . We cant be having people releasing music that doesnt fit our wants and needs 100% its not like they are playing music in a band because they actually love doing it or anything lol

Plus the songs weren't so damn long. The songs were really long and the band didn't have ideas to support such lengths of the songs.
