All that really tells me is you need a different shaft for that ping or a slight decrease on face loft to get your launch angle closer to 14.

In the future I would love to see the same driver style (low spin, max) and loft being compared against each other. If you were hitting the low-spin 9 deIt's like comparing a bladed iron against a game improvement iron. Thanks for the content.

I have the stealth 2 and cant control the thing whatsoever. It can kill the ball when struck correctly but not forgiving at all and I actually get a draw on many shots which Ive never had before. Just bought the Ping to try the most forgiving driver on the market. Thanks for the review.

I suspect that one reason that the Ping is spinning more is that by turning the sleeve down by 1 deg you actually opens the face which bizarrely often increases spin rather than reducing it. You would have been better with a 9deg head and turning it up 1 deg which actually closes the face and will tend to reduce the spin. To optimise my drivers I usually have to start with a 9 deg head and then increase the loft on the sleeve by 11/2 degs closing the face which gives me my best launch numbers.

A very interesting comment. That should have a significant & important factor when you get fitted for a driver. I have had some good conscientious pros & also some who just wanted my money. eg Putting 6 layers of tape on my irons when I changed from playing hockey & cricket to golf. I was used to thick grips for those games & DID NOT know how it effected the flight of the ball. When a new golf pro took over at my home club he told me my custom fitted clubs were NOT suitable for a person with normal sized hands.

@@alangoudie2299 getting good advice is key, I went for a fitting with pro I was having lessons with I was so inconsistent he said none of them were right even though the ping was best performing. Tried the g430 lst unfortunately the stock shafts from Ping were terrible for myself, all launched too high with high spin. Finally got to try it with the Ventus Blue Velocore, almost 600 revs less spin then the Ping tour shaft, still fairly high launching.
@TheAverageGolfer
@TheAverageGolfer Жыл бұрын
There is no doubt that the G430 launches high, some comments on here attribute that launch due to the shaft and yes it plays a part but Ping want these drivers to launch high and they have achieved there aim, as you have found even with the lower spinning results you achieved with different shaft, thanks for interesting feedback

Nicely done Andy! I played a g410plus Ping driver CB 55 stock shaft for 2 years. Lovely dispersion but a bit light on the distance. I bought the Stealth last year and was satisfied with the accuracy and gained 10-15 yards. I used the Ventus red regular stock shaft. I am happy gaining a few more yards especially maintaining the fairway. I like them both but like a few more yards.

I think all those sub 2000 spin numbers on the Stealth would be cause for concern for the average swing speed and skill golfer. Those become uncontrollable shots in a lot of cases. When ideally struck and launched, they can be glorious, but the 14 other drives on the course may not be so positive. I think a slightly lower loft on the ping might be the better choice for usability.

What swing speed is ideal for the stealth2? Not sure of my swing speed. I have the g425 driver. I hit it 240-280 yd. It is forgiving. Ball flight goes mid to high.I tried stealth2 3 wood. @kennethbnorris
@kennethbnorris 10 ай бұрын
@@joshuak5757 I think what David is getting at is most amateur golfers don’t hit their drives consistently with a neutral (or low) sidespin. Having low backspin numbers with drives that have a lot of sidespin magnifies those slices and hooks. A driver that has a bit more backspin could help lessen that to some degree. But he did say swing speed, so perhaps he is pointing out golfers with sub 90mph swing speeds won’t get much carry out of it. I think he was also pointing out the sidespin issue without actually naming it though. I’m no expert on swing speeds, but I don’t think swing speed is the critical factor in determining which of these two might be ideal for you. I would think club head loft, shaft stiffness and weight might be more important there. I think your typical sidespin variation may be the determining factor. At least that’s how my fitter explained it to me when I got fitted for the G430 Max. Yes… I suck and need all the help I can get 😂 I tried the Paradym and Stealth as well as the G430 LST, but the Max version did help me get it a bit straighter a bit more consistently due to my own personal issues which may be different from others who would benefit more from the other brands.

Andy you need to have a look at the Taylormade custom fit as some of the shafts are tipped by 1” from the standard. So you regular would got to a stiff and give you a left to right shot. I think the UST shafts where tipped on the original stealth. As my wife (scratch handicap) had the HL UST and couldn’t draw the ball due to the tipping . Played the G410 in the end and had no problem drawing the ball.

I bought the Ping G425 lst last year. I don't buy new clubs very often so it was a heavy decision knowing it might be in the bag for the next maybe 10 years. There were other tempting models. Some went farther, some were cheaper. The big selling factors for me were the reputation of the brand and their consistently solid products and the fact that it has so much adjustment not only in loft, but also lie and rear weight position. I feel confident there will be a configuration that will work for me for years to come. It may not be the longest out there, but it's a solid club. At least the LST model sounded a bit better than the max in the 425. I don't hate it. 😁👍

Most Club fitters would say that the spin rate you are getting on the Stealth 2 is too low at an average Well below 2000.On a launch monitor low spin will give you a extra distance reading and on the course the ones that spin around 2000 and above will give you maximum distance but when you hit a Driver at 1350 spin for most people the ball will just dip out of the air.This has always been the problem with Taylormade Drivers,They normally can produce the longest Drive compared to other Brands for most Golfers but then when you aren’t hitting it at your best it will produce your Shortest Drives compared to others.Spin consistency is key to a Good Driver and that’s why the Ping is better,your Spin with that varied by 650 revs top to bottom with most shots Spin being much tighter.Whereas the Taylormade spin varied 1300 top to bottom and the fluctuation was all over the place.

Whereas in reality…..on the course the low spin isn’t affecting performance? I have played stealth OG all year and never hit so many fairways, golfers are obsessed with data and I agree it’s important but sometimes reality has shown me that spin more than any piece of data is questionable in real time performance, I have seen this so much with data from irons as well

Nice. I have been playing g425 driver for that forgiveness everyone says offers. Ball flight goes mid to high. Forgiveness is there. I do find a lot of fairways but I can still find the rough and even the trees occasionally. 250-280yd. I recently fell in love with stealth2 three wood. I usually don’t get along with three woods. Stealth2 is a special concoction for sure. 220-240 off the deck. Mid to high flight yet slightly piercing trajectory. Straight. Very consistent for me. Amazing club. Game changer for sure. It knocked my ping fairway woods out of the bag faster than a Mike Tyson first round uppercut. now i am curious if i would get the same performance on the stealth2 driver? am i missing out on quite a bit of yards by not trying stealth2 driver? I want fargiveness. If i could gain some twenty yards off the tee in exchange I have to play from the rough a couple more times a round I am taking that deal. I think your video showcased that potential.

The data shows where the differences between the clubs are. Ping is consistent, carry distance from longest to shortest is not even 10 yards, spin difference is less than 700 rpm (as average golfers we "explore" the limits of the face so this is a very good result for Ping). Stealth is longer but the variability both in terms of carry distance and spin is much worse, although interestingly the shortest carry with Stealth is no shorter than the shortest with the Ping. I would argue that the spin numbers for the Stealth are just a bit too low for the average swing speed, even if you delete the 2 really low spinning shots, Stealth averages around 2000 rpm, which I think is close to being unmanageable for anyone whose standard drive has a bit of shape on it. Ultimately if you are a good ball striker with a neutral ball flight Stealth is the driver to go for, otherwise Ping will be the better club over the course of a season. Only problem is I hate the looks of the Ping!

If I analysed data as you have done I would draw the same conclusion BUT the on course performance contradicts the data or at least questions the validity and accuracy of spin data, in the video and throughout last 12 months I’ve not found so many fairways with my driver and shaft combo. @@TheAverageGolfer no I don’t, I have a old ping 410 driver and looking to upgrade maybe this year to a 430, just trying to get a feel for the claimed length gains all the new drivers they are claiming? however your reviews of the 9 wood, and the other longer iron replacements are also tweaking my interest. As an aging average golfer they seem to make more and more sense. Just a note on KZfaq, we seem to be getting more and more scam replies asking us to contact them, after we are issuing comments.

Have you managed to get a ProForce shaft with a Ping adapter yet so you can test the G430 with it and see how that works in reality?

I'm sorry but I don't get the point of this video. Perhaps I don't know enough about golf. But your swing is not consistent, one club has a different loft from the other, the shafta are different in length, weight and flex. Just what are you trying to prove?

If we go by professional wins Callaway is leading. For me, I have never been able to hit a Taylormade driver. I get along with PING but I will take a Callaway every time. Sound, feel, performance and consistent shaft orientation with their adapter makes it my choice of weapon.

Maybe neither of these two is the best driver of 2023. I have seen some reviews of the new Wilson Dyna Power driver that may make IT the best (and save 100 pounds).

Lets say, fifteen years ago, you could hit your driver 200 yards and each year following you bought the new driver that promised 10 yards more. Do you know how far you'd be driving? Probably the same distance to the nearest golf supply store to dump another obnoxious amount of money on a dream, that's how far! Stick with the one that keeps you in play.
