I didn’t expect the level of anger I felt when she applied the fake subway tiles to her subway tiles

I checked her TikTok and in case someone didn’t know, Grace got into a very traumatic accident with a drunk driver, had brain injury, and was going through a lot of shit, so she found coping in DIY. But the bathroom thing just spiraled down into madness; she also fucked up on purpose a few times because she wanted views, then she could raise awareness to drunk driving and her situation. She isn’t doing anything in the bathroom anymore, she’s an artist now and paints pretty cool stuff. She hired contractors to fix her bathroom though, but they’re fucking up a lot, it’s a whole new saga Edit: for those still joking around, I think this is a serious situation. She has literal brain damage, nearly destroyed her house and now has to deal with bad professionals making stuff worse. I’m sorry for being a fun sucker, I just feel bad for her. I hope stuff gets better and she gets everything fixed. I forgot to mention she had brain damage in the comment so I completed it.

I like how she's willing to learn something new, and she doesn't give up, BUT it really looks like she did absolutely no research before starting this project 😬

As someone who worked in paint for years this video gives me anxiety. You can't just throw house paint on counter tops, sink basins, and tiles. These surfaces would all require some kind of epoxy, and also the reason the white paint starts bubbling and cracking is I very much doubt she used an after wash to completely remove the paint stripper residue between stripping and repainting.

She made a tiktok recently explaining she was doing it on purpose as a rage room to mentally recover after her car accident. The person who hit her was finally sentenced so now shes getting it professionally done :)

She explained that the reason she has a very difficult time with impulse control is that she has brain damage from being hit by a car a couple years ago. Her boyfriend is currently trying to keep her busy painting birdhouses and the like

Pro-tip if you're ever painting cabinets: remove the cabinet doors and paint them separately. If you're painting a counter with a sink in it, put a trash bag or plastic bag in the sink and tape off the edges with painters tape. Do NOT paint marble or granite counters, for the love of all that is holy.

hypothesis: you're not supposed to paint roller over those stencil tile things, you have to spray paint them otherwise there's too much liquid and the lines bleed through the paper

This gave me the same feeling I have when I watch house flipping shows and they take beautiful dark wood cabinets and paint them pure white to "be modern," then the whole kitchen end up being white and grey except for the heckin' backsplash (hate the word "backsplash" since they obsess over it so much in those shows) which is made of deep blue glass or some weird color that doesn't fit the rest of the monochrome room. Or when they take nice brick/stone fireplaces and either paint them white or cover them in tacky ceramic tiles.

yo, I showed this to my dad who does Bathrooms renovations as a job and he thinks that the lady renovating her bathroom as "nuts", was horrified with the countertop green colour with the thick paint and called it mould, said that mixing all the different acetone must made the bathroom smell sharply acidic and considering that the white paint started to flake, it probably reacted to the acetone that was probably left over because I don't think she probably washed it. plus, he really liked your vid saying you "presented well" :)

i’m sorry but imagine those fumes when she was taking the paint off the counters. all that acetone... i remember this time my mom painted our table, but she messed up and used a bunch of acetone to clean the table up. i feel like i can still smell it and it’s been years.

As someone renovating their own house this fucking kills me. I’m fixing mistakes like this that the previous homeowners left me... having to scrape off vinyl flooring from original hard wood, stripping paint from the original fireplace mantle, knocking out cabinets that are so cheap and flimsy. I just have to die inside a little longer before I my new and actually improved house gives me life again 😩

As someone who works in a paint department and paints regularly, I'm going to begin listing everything wrong with this video. 1. You can't do matte or flat in a a bathroom. At all. In fact, you cannot use regular house paint in a bathroom. There are particular types of paint made just for tiles and bathrooms. When it comes to regular paint, the moisture will cause the paint to bleed (chemicals and dye will run) and it will look absolutely horrible. It also doesn't last on tiles. If you gently scrub regular paint, it will come off. 2. That look? There are tiles made with that exact pattern and they are cheap and easy to use. If you really wanna stencil, let the base layer dry for at least two days (without using the shower! moisture will cause it to dry slower), tape the stencil down, and use the proper paint to do stencil. 3. Again, there's a special kind of paint for countertops. But don't look for it cause it is sold out everywhere right now. it smells like hell, it'll get you high, it never ever ever comes off of anything, but it'll work. 4. ...why the hell are you spraying gloss on? You just need to start with cabinet paint! Or satin or semi gloss or gloss! A top coat isn't necessary. Oh my god. Does she like to suffer? 5. "Does anyone know why this happened?" yeah you painted the freaking countertops with the wrong thing. 6. i quit i can't do this.

As someone who has worked renovation since I was LITERALLY 12 (my dad's company), my brain was just, calculating the costs all of these materials as she was screwing things up. My heart was going into cardiac arrest. I want to renovate my entire house right now to fix what I cannot. I've actually never knew people used stencil on tiles, that's surprising to me, despite my family using stencil on almost everything. Just a little hint, if y'all ever paint tiles like that, use the right paint, wait for it to dry just a tad bit before peeling off the stencil.

My old mother used to paint the shower tiles a new color since she’d change the bathroom up a lot, but she never once painted the countertops. Me, being a child, pointed the shower head towards the wall at all times because I was like 4 foot. The water would get stuck in between the paint and tile and form a giant bubble that would pop days later if we were lucky.

A common mistake I see people make, is thinking they have to top coat their paint with a varnish to keep it from chipping. Your paint is the top coat. Pick a good primer, instead. That's the best way to keep it from peeling or chipping.
