Here's his video fixing the other Xbox One 😎➡️ • TheCod3r Vs. Joey Does...
TheCod3r sent me a faulty Xbox One to see if I could fix it. Phil knows my competency levels and even gave me a nicer looking Xbox One (legend). I try to diagnose the fault and attempt to fix the console with my basic knowledge. Huge thankyou to Phil for sending me the console, I really appreciate it :)

Good job, good video, Since you asked...When looking into the power supply connector (psu end) each barrel is a separate connector. From outside to center of each barrel (two on psu connector and two mating connectors on the board connector) the connectors are arranged as GRND..12vdc..5vdc... you have three circuits. 1: the outer barrels on both pins are ground. 2: the inner barrels, where the pins are, carry 12vdc. 3: The center pins, one carries 5vdc pwr "ON" signal, 0vdc "off" and the other carries 5vdc constant... On the power connector on the board there are matching pins that mate up to the ones on the psu connector. If the 12vdc barrels from the psu connector are not making contact with the 12vdc barrels in the ps board connector, due to a bad or worn out ps board connector, then you will not have 12vdc available. Even though you have continuity between one side of the board connector and the corresponding pin on the board does not mean you have continuity from the psu connector through the board connector to the board. So, since you have no 12vdc power on the board and have not found any shorted or faulty components, the power connector on the board would be the first thing/component I would replace... Good video, Thank You...

Great video joey it was very entertaining as usual. yesterday i found an original xbox one at a scrap center and it was like this it had an orange light on the power brick but no power so i spent a few hours faulty finding and eventually i plugged it in without the wifi card and the white light came on and it powered on the only problem is both hdmi ports kinect and ethernet port look like they were intentionally destroyed with a screwdriver so for now i cant test it on the tv im going to try replacw the hdmi port hopefully it goes well anyway hopefully you can find out whats wrong with the xbox keep trying you will fix it keep up the fantastic work

You’re absolutely right, Joey. mV stands for milli volts and there are 1000 mV in a volt, so 50 mV is just background noise. The equivalent of 0.05 volts. I think it would be worth finding continuity between the 12v pin behind the power port and other areas of the board and seeing if you can find continuity on one board that isn’t on the other. I know you measured voltage between ground and that pin, but did you measure resistance/continuity? If there’s low resistance between ground and the 12v pin you’re 100% dealing with a short to ground.
@JoeyDoesTech
@JoeyDoesTech 2 жыл бұрын
I measured from the connector to the pin with continuity but not from ground, so that's an interesting question pal. Thanks for the info about the mV as well :) I checked as many locations as I could for continuity from that pin to other areas of the board and found some stuff, but no shorts on those individual components :(

On second thought , Since you didn't indicate whether the psu brick is turning on as indicated by the orange light turning to white... The Xbox one power brick has a constant 5vdc "Standby" signal output on one of the center pins of the connector, which it seems you measured on one of the connector pins on back of the board. It also requires 5vdc "power on" signal from the board, either generated from the board or looped at the power connector, back to the other center pin to tell the psu brick to supply the 12vdc to the connector, thereby turning the orange light to white on the psu brick. You didn't state if you have this 5vdc "power on" signal being sent back to the psu brick from one of the pins on the board connector. Without this "power on" signal the psu brick will not generate the 12vdc to the board and the Xbox will have no power to turn on. You could jumper the 5vdc "standby" signal pin to the 5vdc "power on" pin on back of the connector to turn on the 12vdc to get power to the board, which in turn will test the 12vdc contacts through the board connector and should power the 12vdc rail. It will also give you more information and help locate where the problem may be. Continuity check of connector pins will find corresponding pins. I think all the 5vdc and 3.2vdc you have measured is being generated from the 5vdc "standby" power circuit. Also, the psu brick is turned on, orange light to white, by plugging it into the Xbox board connector, not by the Xbox power switch.. While your diagnostic procedures are good, don't forget the basics like, why am I not getting power at the board connector... On another note, If I am injecting myself in where I shouldn't and being a bother, Please let me know...
@JoeyDoesTech
@JoeyDoesTech 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Warren, thankyou for the info :) I thought the indication of power going from power brick to the Xbox was by the fan having that initial 2cm spin, so maybe this lines up with the white light appearing on the brick then turning back off? Currently the white light doesn't appear on the brick at all, so think you're 100% that it's not having that signal to send the 12v to the Xbox and I know the PSU is all good from other Xbox's. I might try the jumper wire like you've suggested and maybe that'll prompt the brick to turn on, my only worry is that then it might overheat something it's not meant to? I could be wrong though!
@warenmann1042
@warenmann1042 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeyDoesTech I think that if something is shorted it will heat up, but you haven't found any shorts and the 12vdc is only going to go where it is suppose to go or to ground so, there should be no problems. Try jumping the pins quickly while monitoring the 12vdc pin of the connector with a meter to see if you temporarily get 12vdc and the psu brick light switches to white long enough to rule out a "orange-white-orange" problem ,. If you do and it does, that's great, Then see if you can trace the 5vdc "power on" signal pin back down the 5vdc "power on" signal line to see where the 5vdc "power on" signal is getting blocked. Could be nothing more than a transistor or such. It should ultimately come from the 5vdc "standby' power source or a control chip supplied by it. I believe the fan spin is a result of the circuit charging and logic levels being set. But it's spin would, in a way, indicate that some power is getting through ...
