My great aunt and uncle rented that apartment to Bonnie and Clyde. My grandma and her cousin used to deliver eggs and milk to them. They had been told to be very quiet when making the deliveries and to leave the items at the top of the stairs because they kept odd hours. They left a trunk of clothes and my grandma and her cousin spent a lot of time playing dress up in Bonnie’s clothing. We still have a couple of her undergarments tucked away.

It is amazing that many of the areas where Bonnie and Clyde dwelled still look impoverished. It is as if the aura of The Great Depression still lingers over these areas.

I was born in Joplin, Missouri.. 1984. Lived there until I was 13 when we moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. My grandfather Dr. Patterson delivered majority of the Joplin babies back in the 60s, 70s, and into the 80s... including one of Micky Mantle's sons. His homestead was also on ghost hunters. WWII vet and an amazing man with amazing stories. Miss and love him dearly ❤️

Doc was the best doctor ever! He delivered a couple my siblings and took care of my children till he couldn’t anymore. He was the kindest man I have ever met (next to my father) and my husband and I loved him and Barbara dearly and miss them both. Michael Patterson is my dentist and reminds me so much of him. There is not one person that knew Doc that didn’t absolutely love him and Barbara too.❤️

My great Uncle was the Sherriff of the Parrish in which Bonnie and Clyde were killed. I also was taught to drive by a man that used to buy them cigarettes in the Dallas area. There's so many opinions out there on if their death was justified or not, but one thing that my grandma always told me was the stress of the situation made her unlce grey over night... I was also informed upon a family reunion in Louisiana that "We don't talk about it" in our family. Not because we are embarrassed but because Hollywood glamorized the criminals and "took liberties" with the truth. That one sentence spurred me on to truly research and understand the whole scenario.

Daniel King For the same reasons that Adam made this video! It’s very interesting to research things in history (and unfortunately, there’s LOTS of death associated in history) and I find it intriguing to see Bonnie and Clyde’s motives for doing what they did, they weren’t really the cold blooded killers they often get painted as (that being said, I don’t condone that they did actually end up killing people haha) visiting places like Adam the Woo did in this video and does for other historical events makes history come alive in ways textbooks can’t and I think that is really special(:

Wish I had known you were tracing their path, but just noticed you did not go very far north. You could have a have a hard time here in Mid Missouri because the "bridge/ferry" is now gone because they put in the dam and took out the short-box chain bridge between Sagrada Beach MO (North side) and Edwards, MO (South Side) They used horses and cable to pull the box across the lake up to the other side of the Osage River. The north side landing was on top of a hill by a farm, which the family maintained the crossings. The south side was at the top of a bluff that was over 700 ft above the river. They have logged everyone who used it to cross and Bonnie and Clyde used it 7 times according to the log books. It was the only way to cross the Osage River between Warsaw, Mo and Camdenton, MO. Mrs Shirley Bean's family was the decedent of the farmer and had the records from the crossings. She passed last year. Another little know landmark here is the home of Truman Lake Home. He had a large rock house in Lakeview Heights, MO. It is placed to keep an eye on the lake and has a tall rock tower where Pinkerton security stood watch. It is where he resided after he dropped the bombs on Japan that ended WW2. THANK YOU FOR REWALKING THRU HISTORY. I LOVE THE JOURNEY

@@donald6815 Are you referring to yourself there about what prayer does? Personally, I have had many times where I have prayed during times of peril and have sought guidance and answers from God. There was a time when I had little to no faith while I was in Iraq. It was very difficult to find faith in such a horrible place surrounded by so much anger and despair. But I reconnected with God and praying has done so much more for myself and my family other than make me feel better. A lot of times praying doesn't make me feel better, but having faith and asking God for answers and help for things and I have gotten answers and help when it has been needed. I'm 37 years old and my whole life I have been about helping others and trying to do good things with the life God granted me. We all are here for a reason and each of us has a soul. There is an afterlife and I DO believe in Christ. What is there to lose in having faith? And if I am right in my belief of Christianity and it's only through Christ to get to Heaven I'd much rather be a believer and be mocked and insulted and cursed at then be a non believer and end up going to Hell and suffering for an eternity.

I love how you are aware of where your roots were, now I know this might not be true to all, but I feel like a lot of America has a problem with not understanding where they came from or even what their parents did or where they lived in that time they were 2-4 years old. I used to have a mindset where I would only worry about what lies ahead of me and never really cared about the details that made me who I was, but now to me one of the coolest things is sitting with my parents and finding out about where they came from and what they did. I have grown to appreciate history and how it is such a backbone to the future!

Much of America was settled by people who had to leave another country due to intolerable situations involving extreme poverty, civil unrest, postwar displacement, religious reasons or expelled outright by ethnic cleansing. There are too many painful memories that were to be accepted as a part of life but not discussed. And sometimes, for those with really bad memories, once the tears start they may never stop. For them, denial may have been the only comfort they had.

Blanche Barrow died in 1988 but somehow her friend had the eventual book, written out in longhand, stored in her garage. There is also a 1968 Playboy interview with W.D. Jones on Google. A few years ago I devoured all the info I could on B&C due to a PBS docu I saw. The garage out back at 24:51, based on the brickwork, looks to be much more recently constructed.

msr111 my grandmother and great aunt worked at a cafe in Dallas with Bonnie before their crime spree. Clyde would come in and flirt with my aunt and made Bonnie mad. I know there was more than 1 cafe in the Dallas area Bonnie worked at and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen pics of the correct location but would love to find out for sure. *side note - when the movie came out with warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway my gma, aunt and mother went to the theatre. My aunt yelled out - “Bonnie Parker wasn’t that pretty!!”

Adding to your Commerce, Oklahoma to Joplin Missouri trip.........Mickey Mantle who you mentioned lived in Commerce, eventually signed with the NY Yankees, played for the Yankees minor league team in Joplin. He played shortstop for the Joplin Miners. I believe he only played for Joplin for one or two years before being called up to the Yankees. I am enjoying your west to east tour.

Another great video guys. Makes sense that the door at the top of the stairs would have been well set back with a small landing area. No property has a door close to the top step, it's too dangerous and also awkward to open when coming up stairs. So the cops blasted the door from up there on the landing, unless it was the barrow gang shooting outward. Interesting.

Interesting video!! Was at that house in Joplin, MO, a few years ago, but thought that it was a private residence, so never entered. Will have to make a visit down that way sometime soon. Have been to the Bonnie/Clyde ambush/death site just outside Arcadia, LA; the spot where they were again ambushed and where Buck Barrow was supposedly killed and Blanche was captured in Dexter, IA; and another location where they had a shoot out in the vicinity of Kansas City Airport. May have been to a few other locations where Bonnie/Clyde visited, but the above locations stick in my head the most. Also been to Commerce, OK, and saw the Mickey Mantle statue at the town ball park. Even went over to the Quapaw, OK, area a few times trying to see IF I was able to witness the "legendary" Spook Lights - nope, never got to see them after 4 attempts.
