He didn't like Barry. Barry agrees that he didn't handle that situation very well. Barry ran the wishbone which is mostly running. Troy was a passer and when he broke his leg Barry made a call to UCLA they asked him to play for them and the rest is history. Troy never wanted to have fan interaction which gave him a reputation of being rude which he was. But because Barry made that call he helped Troy to get into a passing game offense otherwise I'm not sure where he would end up. Yet he still didn't like Barry. Oh well they still won despite of their relationship.

@MiamiBeach xxx I’ve often asked that question myself. very hard to say. They played in such different eras. It’s like asking who would you want as the head coach of the Cowboys all-time team? Jimmy Johnson, or Tom Landry? I go back and forth on it. Staubach meant as much to his teams as Emmitt Smith meant to his. That’s not to say that Aikman wasnt vital; but the heart and soul of those 90s teams was Emmitt Smith. The same could be said about Staubach. When Staubach retired, you could still plug in Danny White and they were still contenders in the early 80s; but they clearly couldn’t get past the NFC championship without Staubach. Their confidence wasn’t the same without his competitive field generalship and his uncanny ability to escape and make big plays in critical playoff moments on 4th down. Aikman had the better Super Bowl teams. But damn, Aikman was an accurate passer in those dynasty years. So I don’t know lol

Troy is a class act! He was an excellent field general qb and his precision three step drop darts were always spot on especially on 3&6 plays to the big tight end who only ever droooed one ball ever, Mr.Novachek. Loved hearing the Charles Haley relationship... really cool to hear the little backstories that surface...I believe Troy's style of play was a big influence in the way Tom handles the positiin within the system. Troy is very humble and he deserves more credit for keeping the gang together which was obviously stranger than fiction. Troy demanded excellence on the practice field and the rest got inline...not easy ti get everyone on aboard but he had that "it factor". Brady is the best clutch winning football quarterback ever...but keep your eye on Dak! lol

As a die-hard Cowboy fan I do have one happy remembrance of the 'skins: Fresh out of USAF tech school my 1st duty station was Incirlik AFB in Adana, Turkey. (Classified as 'Torrejón, Spain' according to my orders). I missed the 2nd leg of my flight, spending 18 hrs waiting on the next one. That was in Frankfurt, Germany. My consolation was watching Washington--with Riggins--run over Miami...even though it was 4 in the a.m. local time. Cowboy fan first; NFC fan 2nd.

Troy rarely gets the credit he deserves for the 94 and SB95 seasons. Switzer replaces Johnson and the team nearly self destructs in 94. Troy was as much the head coach in 95 as Barry was. He led by example and really was a class act both on and off the field.

@dbreiden83080
@dbreiden83080 4 жыл бұрын
12 TD's and 11 INT's is precise? His numbers are trash.. Even for that era. His job in the reg season was hand the ball to Emmitt Smith.. Young, Marino, Elway, Favre all far better than him in that era. Not close.. Look at what Young had to do in that era winning MVP awards. He had to carry the load. Aikman got largely carried.. 93 they start the year 0-2 with Smith in a contract dispute. Once Smith comes back they win 4 straight and go 12-4 on the year.. Smith is league MVP. Aikman was an above AVG QB at best.. He played well in big games. But Reg season he was not very good at all..
@goodtimescali6316
@goodtimescali6316 3 жыл бұрын
@@dbreiden83080 He didn't throw one yard td's like Young. His numbers would have been off the charts if they're offense was different. Inside the ten it was always Emmitt. Young was throwing for td's inside the five. How many swing passes did he have for td's? Dumb comparison. Throw the ball down the field with accuracy and juice there's no comparison. I mean just look at the 92' championship; all you need to know. Young: Pick, Pick. Aikman: Darts. It wasn't until the 9ers broke the salary cap and lost draft picks that Young could win ONE superbowl. Fake as usual.

Thank you, Troy! Finally, someone speaking accurately about Tom Brady. Great props for what he has done with the Patriots. But, had he gotten with a bad revolving door organization, he most certainly would not have the SB's or have been as great. I would love to see him with a poor offensive line and weak defense and see how long he would play or how well he would perform and how many games he would win in that situation. So, QB's are the most dependent position on the field.

@chippope8984
@chippope8984 7 жыл бұрын
Football is a TEAM sport. Tom is on the best organization in football today and has been for his entire career. You have no idea how he would have faired if he had to PLAY AGAINST THE PATRIOTS ALL THESE YEARS and if he had to play on a bottom two team for a few years. And that is a fact. Tom Brady is NOTHING without an offensive line. Nothing against Tom, but that is the way the game works. Tom does know how to get it done, I must admit, at least as long as he is on this great team. Just like Troy said.

I was at the game when he suffered that major concussion. He had no idea where he was. The team doctor asked him if he knew where he was he said he was in Henrietta and he played for the chicks which were from his play in high school. In his rookie season he had quite a few concussions that year. When he played the eagles on Thanksgiving day he was sacked 17 times. Needless to say it wasn't a good day.

Feat never to be matched. 2nd to Tom, 2 QBs have won 4 super bowls, Terry and Joe, and if Terry calls Tom the greatest then everybody respect that statement. I’d say I’ve been ko,d three times . On ice hit the back of my head totally out ten count . Basketball head to head collision broken nose staggered . Still hella dazed . Again b-ball flipped head first smacked the court . Walked away from all. still I know i get head aches or don’t feel “good” has something to do with all .

I've taken at least 3+ hits skiing with a good helmet on hard ice. So hard that I absolutely knew I had a concussion. Yet, I didn't. The helmet saved my butt. I say that because I did have three concussions when I was a kid with no helmet. Once I was hit with a fully swinging baseball bat that put me out for at least8+ hours and woke at a specialty hospital for children in Hollywood. I felt fine but was out another 2-4 hours, so I know concussions first hand. But that helmet saved me while skiing so why don't the helmets football players wear do the same.

All class, all the time. Barry Switzer took a great team, and even with his lax, mediocre incompetent coaching,Troy still managed to win the big one under him. Jerry Jones, great business man, terrible GM.

Verum Quaesitor Switzer wasn’t incompetent. He was hired because he didn’t dog his players. A lot of Switzer’s draft picks were solid players. Don’t knock the old ball coach cause if you do that, you knock the coaching staff that Johnson brought in. Barry gave them full control. 12-4 12-4 and a SB in there. Not too bad for the old ball coach. Almost made it back the next year. What is his knock? The Philly game? The players stopped the old ball coach from calling other plays. He went with the plays that they voted to run. Every team does it and sometimes comes up short. Would Jimmy have made it to 3? Sure, but he’d have kept the team young but cutting players. Did Jerry like that? No! Did Jimmy burn out, possibly. But it wasn’t fun. So Jerry brought in fun, but effective Switzer, and last time I checked Switzer is the last coach to get the Cowboys to the promise land. It’s hard to get there.

Jerry Jones Should Step Aside And Let His Son's Run The Cowboys Organization . HELL He's Got Plenty Of Money Or Bring In One Of Their Former Players Too Coach The Team.
