To tell the truth I've been in the fabrication game for about ten years now. I am always watching weld videos just because you cant learn enough. I enjoy these videos alot. Your good at explaining what your doing without sounding like your reading from a book. Keep it up.

I love when you show different training techniques. I actually think I enjoy going exercises more than just plain old welding. It's not often that whatever I'm working on requires anything but a regular weld. Once in a blue moon I might get to show off on a cold air intake and sometimes on some exhaust but everything else is more function than looks.

I wish you can included more shots of your finished weaves. It would have been particularly “interesting” to see the one when you deliberately screwed up. Otherwise, it was a great source of information and an outstanding video!

I know this video is old but I just got my first welder, a tig set up with a pedal. I've watched countless videos to learn and ran across this video. Nobody has stressed the fact that you need the torch as close as possible like you did here. Man what a help! This video helped me lay some pretty nice welds. Every little thing you demonstrate has made my welds improve in all aspects. You see I live in the rural mountains of North Georgia where trying to find a school that teaches welding, so im self taught to say the least. But I try hard and stay the course at my TIG welding. This is the most demanding welding process for me to learn but I stay relaxed and can even laugh at myself while making mistakes. So many other sites say "only this way or that way and never deviate". While knowing some of the obvious do's and dont's Ive learned from YOU that "whatever works for me" is OK and that everyone has their own style. Just hearing you say things like that in your videos was actually what has caused me to improve, and I cant begin to tell you how much ive saved from consumables to argon just from learning from you! Thank you my Brother!

I welded some marine manifolds that had some very small fractures crackes throughout the whole 8 inch pipe. Which I weave tig welded and it works great to stay ahead of the cracking

I found this video by accident and have been using weaves to close gaps in 18GA steel. I’ve seen walking the cup before but didn’t know other people freehand weave. If those trainers had a gap that would make the exercise more beneficial. If you run off course with a gap you’ll likely blow a hole.

I’m sure this is an odd question, but I’m new to welding and our teacher doesn’t do the greatest job explaining. Is it safe to touch the electrode, electrode holder, and your work table at the same time if your table is grounded and you are wearing gloves? thanks!

I don't know if this is true without trying it (I need to purchase a large cup) but it seems to me that an advantage of hand-weaving rather than walking-the-cup is when you need to keep the angle of the torch more perpendicular, as would be the case when welding aluminum. If so, it's not that one process supersedes the other, but instead, both processes have their place for use. Just a thought ----

I have a quick question that maybe you can help me out with. I've looked all over the internet but can't get an answer that helps me because I don't have one of the values needed. My question is that I have known to set or determine my heat settings on my welders in the past in amperage. I recently purchased a new inverter style multi process welder and the heat settings is measured in volts. Now this is throwing me completely of as I can not find anything as a reference to go off of and I'm finding myself either initially blowing holes in things or running a cold joint and it's a little frustrating for me especially as I am trying to learn how to properly TIG weld. Could you possibly help me out? It would greatly be appreciated.

Is it possible to set a pulse frequency (something like 6/8 pps) and still use the foot pedal as well? I think it would look a lot nicer

First off, thanks for your service this veterans day weekend, and thanks for the videos. I am a disabled vet, and have had an ankle fusion, so foot pedal control is something I struggle with, if I raise my leg to move the pedal, it shifts my body, which in turn moved my arms, ha ds and so on, I have tried using my other foot, but it dosn't feel comfortable or right, driving, I raise and lower my leg for the gas and left foot brake, is there a pedal you recommend that has great contrrol?? I bought an everlast machine and the pedal that came with it seems to be either full throttle or off for me or I just don't have control like I should. I can only weld with gas due to pacemaker. When I use my largest tips I get very rapid loud explosions in the tip. How can I stop them?

I don't get the cloak-and-dagger, you had a great idea and I've been buying and will continue to buy coupons from you, so why not just say "I started a new company, give it a try"? I probably won't get any of these; I actually use your practice coupons to carry around because they're perfect for making so many repairs and these just don't have any use for me, but I can see how they would e great for a as school.

I always wonder one thing when watch TIG welders dab the puddle with the rod. Why can't you slowly use a constant feed of rod like a mig or soldering iron or brazing?

You should be using a respirator or good ventilation when welding stainless Hexavalent Chromium is some bad stuff.

No fear of hexavalent chromium eh? Also from the arc shot, looks like your arc length is a bit too long? If that filler rod is 1.2mm, then your arc length looks like it's longer than 2mm. Or is it just the camera angle? For example, at 9:45, it looks like your arc length is around 5mm. A bit too long, no? Either way, nice job holding onto an air cooled torch that long.
