HOW TO CAST A FLY ON SPIN AND CONVENTIONAL GEAR
There are a lot of ways to do this, but this is by far my favorite. This is a concept from the playbook of our Ukrainian brothers - but unlike their purposely built jig head, I show you how to utilize a sinker, in this case, a ball sinker (but an egg sinker works well too) to create a weight that enables you to cast flies. The fly can be worked slow, or fast, on the bottom or on top.

Good to see you back man. Thanks for the video. Honestly I have never used a fly. I guess I just never got around to trying it. Starting to see a lot more fly rods around though here in the panhandle of Florida. Thanks again.

Florida and fly fishing cant be separated. Lots of flats there so the opportunity to flyfish is always there. If you have small sizes of balls or egg sinkers you can make small versions of these, Max - could be a way for you to try something new you might end up loving :)

Another way to throw flies with a spinner rod is to use a sinking dumbell eyes fly at the end of the leader and about 2'-3' up from that attach a clear float bubble filled with enough water to get the cast distance you want. I do this surf fishing to target the top column of water. Same thing sized down using dry flies for freshwater trout fishing.

Thats the normal way of doing things but you cant beat lead for distance and depth though.
