At my apprenticeship with Massey they taught us to pack the bearings first on the palms before we installed them. Good goop job.

Dave is good at what he does. You really should never tell a mechanic how easy his job looks.

Nice video, only thing is that i would do different is what we call pack the bearing with grease. This is to make sure the bearing is covered in grease within, not just putting grease in the hub where the bearing paths are, you get a hold of the bearing and push the grease through the bearing at one end of the rollers, until it comes out the other side, this is to prevent the rollers picking up on the path due to lack of grease in the center of the rollers. I have changed a lot of bearings on commercial vehicles over the years and tractor, cars, trucks buses all use the same idea. So just in case you do the other side by yourself, Please pack the bearing to make it last longer. PS: Like said always use a new split pin after pre-loading the bearing play, best to tighten with ease, and then just move it back to the next slot for the split pin to fit in ok, and you will find this should be good, but also as a further note would be at best interest to re check the nut after about 100 miles, whatever that is in hours on a tractor. hope this helps all you Farmers wanting to watch this video and have a crack at it yourselves?

Great video I needed to know if the caps spin off or not and they do. Wish this 1975 265 had an oil point.
