We found the best Baikal we could to see if it was in any way lovable...
We place it against a Longthorne Sporter, which is absolutely delectable, to see if the best of Baikal can make either of us smile (spoiler - it did)

Well said Toni as a working class Aussie bloke, wife kids mortgage I could not imagine paying 12,000 pound for a shotgun. Bloody hell if no kids, no wife, no bloody mortgage I can’t imagine paying 12,000 quid for any bloody firearm. Some people have far too much money and the arrogance to go along with it. The shorter bloke had a better attitude, it wasn’t flash so enjoy it the tall bloke might hav spoken betterer but reeked of upper class arrogance, I didn’t realise the Poms still had that.

Yep, I spent 75 of my finest pounds on a single trigger, multi choke Baikal, goes bang every time i pull the trigger, doesnt seem to kick me around any more than any other gun I've shot, I spent more in shells the first time I used it. Trigger is decent enough, I've done some polishing on the sears and it's improved it a decent amount, fits me well enough however am going to be fitting an adjustable comb kit once i have the parts machined, just for a bit of bling more than anything. Best £75 I've ever spent.

Классное видео! У нас в России эти ружья передаются по наследству от отца к сыну. И есть различные модификации с эжектором и одним спусковым крючком. Ах да, Baikal это экспортное имя, а в России просто Иж27 или mp27 (с 2008 года).

I own two Baikals. I am not an expert shot by any measure but both guns do what it says on the tin. They will break clays and bring in game for the pot. They are simple, no frills weapons designed to do the job. They are not elegant or particularly good looking guns but they are unbelievably robust and reliable, easy to maintain and thrive on neglect. I would not swap either for a Browning, Winchester or Beretta - they are my kind of gun.

Back in the early 80s, a friend of mine had an under and over Baikal, which had articulated trigger. Though it had two triggers, you could pull the front trigger twice if you wanted too. He shot tens of thousands through it and big pigeon days at our place. I haven't seen him for must be twenty years, and wouldn't be at all surprised if he still has it. If only for sentimental reasons, as it was his first gun. He kept it immaculate all the time and was forever cleaning and polishing. Hi Graham if you're watching!

@@pbgd3 His was double trigger but you could use it like a single trigger by pulling the front one twice, which is the obvious choice. I am guessing it would have been 1978-79 or 80 when he had it brand new. He was so proud of it and looked after it like a new born baby. That gun had more cleaning products, oil and gun grease than you could ever imagine.

@@martinhambleton5076 Ya guns are very cool because of those oddities. The history of actions and triggers and locks is so vast and then you look at how it was interpreted in other countries. We think of classic shotguns and england, spain, the US, but then you see unique variants in Russia and then also adaptations all over. And many of the adaptations are for something specific. I suspect his old gun had fixed chokes and probably a really tight second barrel so that the rear trigger was really more of a turkey choke. Still had 2 shots with the front but then 1 very tight second shot.
@martinhambleton5076
@martinhambleton5076 2 жыл бұрын
@@pbgd3 That's right. The top barrel was like super full compared to the full choke on my Miroku. While out shooting pigeons, Graham second barreled one at about 35 yards, when we picked it up the bottom of the wad was sticking out of its chest. Clay shooting was the same, the top barrel on incomers would be turned into soot.

I love my Baikal. I got it after my uncle passed away. It is a right handed gun, which I just recently modified by bending the stock with hot oil and a special purpose made jig. It fits like a glove (soviet army glove) and I have shot a lot of game with it. It's a hammer.

Don't be stingy. Buy new one IZ27 E with one trigger and then compare. This is mocking of IZ. For hunt (rabbit clay) is 100% better than fancy one..... next step...put new stock on IZ and than make new episode...

Do you ever think young shots watch your videos. What you going to say to them when they copy you shooting from the hip. Saftey first every time.
