A when the Stars go on a run like this, at this time of year I must get 'how are you a Dallas fan?' about five times per week. The answer is that when you live in Australia and start becoming a hockey fan you can pick any team you want, then your new team wins the cup six months later and when I moved to Vancouver I already had a team (and I didn't think I'd be here that long, 15 years later....). No I have never been to Dallas either, it doesn't matter. I got home Friday from work and my wife surprised me with tickets for game three in Edmonton (and booked me a flight) with my father in law

Ive lived in Oregon pretty much my whole 40+ year life but Im a Devils fan. People ask me all the time how that happened. I just remember seeing them in the '88 playoff run and liking their logo, we didnt have an NHL team and so I went with that.

don't think it's limited to just hockey players, but i believe athletes in general LOVE fudge, & are definitely not shy about expressing how much they want fudge, especially when something doesn't go their way... i mean, they just want some fudge to feel better & they need to shout out FUDGE when anything disappointing happens, to expedite the fudge to be fed to them to re-focus

I guess whats nice as a Dallas fan is it doesn't felt like we've played to our full potential yet and we could've easily been up 2-0 if that OT went our way. Hoping we continue our trend of dominating on the road!

These conference finals have been amazing so far. The last time I can remember that the conference finals have been this good was probably 2015 and 2016.

It does feel as though the increase in ratings for hockey this season has probably brought in the newer NHL fans to the channel and maybe don't get the stitch. Keep doing your thing Shannon and let them learn how you do things here. The team loyalty topic is a weird one. Why do we root for any team other than convenience of location haha?

Shannon, I first got interested in hockey by watching the Denver Spurs of the Western hockey league, in the late sixties/early 70s. They played a team from Vancouver, called the Vancouver Canucks. Other teams were the San Diego Gulls, with Willie O’Ree, the Portland buckaroos, and the Seattle totems. In 1972, when my Pee-wee team won the state championship, the Spurs also won the WHL championship. Good times.

The temperature in Dallas was super high yesterday. AC might have had trouble keeping up maybe that affected ice conditions (ie the sloppiness)

Shannon, I really appreciate you. I think it is great that you are fans of multiple teams. I have never been to a hockey game in my life and don't live close to any of the team locations. I started watching during the covid lockdown and found the stories of the players lives very interesting and enjoy watching the games on ESPN when I can. I thought it was great when I found your channel on youtube and could get reviews of all the games in one place - great reviews by the way. I too have come to like many of the teams. Thank you.

I've been the the United States once in my life (went to a Panthers game, don't remember much as I was like 13 at the time or something) and Canada 0 times. Yet, I'm a fan of the Capitals and Oilers. When Capitals won the cup, I legitimately cried tears of joy. NHL games generally start at 2/3 AM or 4/5 AM my time, I stay up/wake up super early every single night, just so I can watch Capitals and Oilers play. Have been for years, nigh on two decades at this point. This is why I can relate to Shannon and his fandom of multiple teams. If anything, it's the people who pick the team geographically closest to them to cheer for who are the weird ones. My love for the teams grew naturally and organically, yours is merely a marriage of convenience. It's like people pick their favorite political party based on what their family has always voted for. It's pathetic. I also find it hilarious when North-American hockey fans whine when games go on 'till like 11 PM their time. That's the extent of your conviction? Miss your bedtime by ten minutes and you're complaining? Try staying up every single night for 20 years and then come talk to me about what being a fan is.

There are no prerequisites for which teams you can cheer for. Weird arbitrary line for people to draw in the sand. Cheer for the clubs you like. I'm from Toronto, so I cheer for the leafs because of proximity and family ties. I also cheer for Carolina and Nashville though because I like their clubs. I didn't know I needed another reason for those two besides that hahaha

I am from Northern Ontario and have never seen any NHL game in person but have been a true Habs fan since 1971. At the same time, I have been a fan of Edmonton, Colorado and whatever Canadian team goes further in the Playoffs. My choice, nobody else's.

I'm a Nashville fan from the start, but during the playoffs I watch a series and see where my emotions take as to who to cheer for. Sometimes it surprises me, sometimes it predictable. I'll never root for Dallas, Chicago, Minnesota or Anaheim but pretty much anyone else is fair game.

Edmontons third line keeps getting hemmed into their own end, it cost them a goal today. But they go back to Edmonton tied 1-1 I think they’re in good shape

Canadian, Mike Modano just happened to be my favorite player. So naturally, I watched the North Stars. When Minnesota got a new team, I cheered for the Wild. When they left for Dallas, my favorite D-man Nick Lidstrom played for Detroit. So I cheered for the Red Wings (at least until the Wild came in, but I still like watching Detroit). In college, I started watching a bunch of Flyers games with a friend. Became a fan of John LeClair and even met a few Flyers when I went to Pennsylvania for work. I live nowhere near any of those cities 😂 If it was just geographical, I'd be a Flames or Oilers fan, but I can't really stand either. As someone who likes defensive hockey (and football) cheering for a team so single mindedly focused on offense is a hard sell.

People need to learn how fandom works. Not everyone is a fan of their local club. Some people fall in love with teams because of certain players. For example I’m from Columbus and am a CBJ fan but for a long time my favorite team was the Avalanche because Joe Sakic was my favorite player. Now I travel to Denver a lot and have adopted the Avalanche as my second team, even though I’ve only been to one game in Denver

I completely understand what you are saying about cheering for Dallas. I have been a fan of the New Jersey Devils for 24 years. And I have never watched them play in NJ. I have only visited NJ 1 time. And I was a fan for 15 years before I ever watched them play live. I also live in Kansas. Many people here are Avs or Blues fans. And don't care for either of those teams.

I'm a Russian and I always found it weird when some people I know who cheered for Detroit started to cheer for Washington and then Tampa because "Well, we cheer for Russians". Yes, I started to cheer for Anaheim when Russian goalie Bryzgalov has quite a run in 2006 playoffs, but I never stopped being a Ducks fan even though there were long stretches when the Ducks didn't have any Russians on board. Yes, I root for Ovi to break the record, but so do a lot of Americans. But I don't want Ovi to score against my Ducks. And yeah, BTW, I've never been to Anaheim 😀
