@rohanclassic4 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah
@-BuddyGuy4 жыл бұрын
For location sound the Sennheiser Mkh416 was developed in the 70s and is still the workhorse of professional recordists. Same with large dynamic mics, they're still the same technology. Microphones are still analog, wireless is still analog, preamps are still analog. You'll have a slightly lower noise floor overall now with modern professional equipment but hardly noticeable. Most of the significant differences in sound quality today come from what happens after the recording has taken place. In the case of this Testarossa, two things matter for the sound you hear. 1: How knowledgeable the recordist was about what type of mics to use and where to place them. 2: How the different tracks were used in the mix in post production. For example here you can hear quite a lot of additional engine bay noise when the engine returns to idle (pulleys, valves etc.). So the revving you hear is probably coming from near the intake, to get the induction note. There should be a mic right next to the exhaust as well and potentially they could have faded to that to use during idle. Nothing to do with the advances in equipment since the 90s.

The Testarossa was far from a lame car, but it is simply one of those few Ferrari's build with no race track purpose, but pure for showing off at mid- and hi speed cruising. Making it a GT car instead of a supersportscar imo. The NSX, while having a much smaller engine, was all about usage on track. the steering and braking of this car is extremely overenginered. Ad some hell of a VTEC kick off to the NSX and it was no wonder the Testarossa, despite it's 12 cilinders and massive engine displacement, never could keep up with the NSX on that twisty race cirquit. But they are both great cars, really, you can't brake the one or the other off.

I can assure all of you that Gan-San (Motoharu Kurosawa) is no slouch, he is an old man that will always push to the limit. Tsukuba is a small tight track that emphasizes on cornering speed with really short straights. The NSX also has 150 kg advantage on the Testarossa. And FYI, the NSX-R beat the 360 and the 355 in the same race at Fuji Speedway, which is a power circuit. So that shows you what potential the NSX has with even a measly 280hp.

Agreed. Anyone who is old enough (or looks back at old car reviews) will remember that the Testarossa was nervous at the absolute limit. They didn't solve out those issues until the arrival of the 512TR. The NSX hit gold in handling since day one. Despite power disadvantage, on a technical course like Tsukuba, its not hard to see why the NSX takes it.

Then the Lost Decade happen and the Japanese switch to economically practical stuff, this includes middle class too. You'll see why many kei cars are driven. I love both of these cars but as many have mentioned already, you would have to compare the lap time results with similar driving styles. Yes the NSX turned faster laps, however the results would eventually and dramatically turn around if this were a proper endurance length race as the NSX would burn up its tires and need to pit while the Ferrari could simply carry on much longer. Overdriving a car will not get you to the finish line either due to elevated risk of mechanical failure, overconsumption of fuel or a high probability of having an error occur that would put you off the track. Watch a Formula, Indycar, NASCAR or World Challenge Endurance race and notice they don't drift the corners like a rally car on gravel or snow.

They totally tried to give the NSX a head start off the line. No professional driver would have that slow of a reaction time. Now its obvious why they compare an NSX with a Testerossa instead of the 512TR which was the successor. It looked nearly identical and had the same engine, but was more powerful and was produced in the same years as the NSX (The Testerossa went out of production at the same time the NSX went into production. The NSX is a great car but a 100+ bhp deficit is a huge hurdle they knew they could not overcome. Gordon Murray even used the Testerossa's acceleration as a bench mark reference when he tried to demonstrate how much faster the F1 was.

Damn, I love both so damn much! I'll go with the NSX though. The testa and NSX both look stunning in person, but the NSX just has this vibe and presence. Whenever I think of it, I just imagine craftsmanship and ingenuity. Good on ya Honda and Acura.

The look, the sound, and absolutely planted on the track. The Testarossa is downright spectacular. The NSX was just all over the track. I would be afraid to drive that Honda.

288km/h :) It's crazy how engines and cars have evolved speed and horsepower wise. I went 265 with my A6 2.0TFSI. That's an ordinary average car today. But the feel like in the old cars are long gone :(
@Joshua_N-A2 жыл бұрын
Nowadays you don't need 10 liters of V8 to have bigger output. Engineering has come a long way and even a 3 cylinder could pumping more hp while naturally aspirated by today's technology.
@earlgrey14924 жыл бұрын
The gearing on the NSX was more suitable for the track and it also handled much better than the Ferrari, it's as simple as that. Not sure why all the Ferrari fan boys are getting butt hurt? Also that "dude" in the Ferrari is one of Japans legendary drivers, known as Motoharu Kurosawa, so he can definitely drive.

Of course the Japanese will try to make their car look better. That driver was not pushing the Ferrari while the NSX driver was milking that car 100%

That Testa has a lot of Understeer, the rear is not as practical as the NSX. Testa a fantastic car, but it doesn't have the built and quality as the NSX. Ferrari at that time were building cars with craftsmanship, but lacked in technology. This is where the F1 Honda team surpassed them in the late 90's developing the NSX. With that said, I hope you understand that the Testa was up against a car that put them back to the drawing board. That's a fact.
@fellippegalletta68277 жыл бұрын
Testa is a pure GT. It will go 60-150 at a speed an NSX can only dream of. For pure handling, a Testa is not even as good as a 348 or 355. So forget an NSX.
