In today's episode we're diving into the coolest easter egg hunt I've ever come across in a video game. In June of 2022, a reddit user by the name of sadfutago posted a strange question about how to access an area in NieR Automata that didn't actually exist. Chaos ensued as the rabbit hole of the secret church deepened.

I am familiar with this story. it was fun to follow, especially how he got Lance McDonald. And in the end we got some cool mod tools (in that it expanded what was possible).

Surprisingly, all of this lasted for a really long while. I expected the userbase to dissect the game piece by piece in a matter of days, since curiosity is often more powerful than the will to play a game of mysteries at its own pace.

Man, that giant room with the chained up Watcher Flower Sisters really makes me hope some day Taro will make a game explaining the weird, seemingly looping but also branching figure-eight-esque loop Drakengard and NieR seem to inhabit. Or just more on Accord. I still _really_ wanna know what the zweet, tasty hell's up with Accord(s?).

I remember being in the modding Discord everytime sadfutago would post. We discussed everything that was happening, shared moments in NieR, met new people… We even read some of the novels, while I was playing piano at the same time. It truly was unforgettable.

what video editor do you use? how long did it take you to learn how to edit like that?

Premiere Pro. I don't really consider myself a good editor, but it probably took about a half an hour to edit every minute of footage in the video. I watch a lot of adobe tutorials lol

I see no Korean on screen at that timestamp. A quick googling tells me sadfutabo called it Korean and was corrected by the community. My guess is that deliberately misidentifying it was a way to get people to pay attention to the text.
