The thing is her main motivation through out the show was not going back to jail. So you can't dismiss it when its clearly at the back of her mind the whole time when shes saying that stuff. Also her main argument for not doing it wasn't "everyone will die", it was "But what about what we had huuuh?"

Right! Yes, jail is part of the reason but so is every one else. All the good things that have happened...all the friendships, characters growing and becoming better people. Avoiding jail is NOT the only reason. I feel like if Kate's character got raped, tortured and murdered....Nikki would still say Kate deserved it.

This is the best season but season 3 cliffhanger was greatest

FUCKING THANK YOU! Finally, someone who is smart and understands. Kate isn't a fan favorite BUT the unnecessary hate towards her from Nikki is absolutely stupid. All Nikki keeps saying is that Kate is just happy that she doesn't have to go to jail. YES, that is true but that IS NOT the only reason. A lot of the characters became better people while on that island. But Nikki doesn't see that JUST BECAUSE she hates Kate. Which is narrow-minded thinking.

For the people who believe that all Kate cares about is herself and just doesn’t want to go to jail, explain to me why Kate in season 4 chose to leave the island then. She knew handcuffs were waiting for her if she left the island and when she ultimately did leave, I didn’t see her cooking up a scheme with a fake ID like she did at the end of season 1 when she tried to get Sawyer kicked off of the raft so she could leave the island and go back on the run. People seem to conveniently forget the fact that Kate CHOSE to answer for her crimes when she made the decision to leave the island. Now in season 5, she’s back to worrying about going to jail? Also..Kate didn’t get on the submarine because she wanted to destroy Sawyer’s relationship with Juliet. For one thing, she had no choice but to get on the sub since she was caught by the DI and they brought her to the sub. Kate had no idea Sawyer and Juliet were even on the sub. It’s also interesting to me how Kate gets ripped for being selfish about going to jail but Sawyer and Juliet getting on the sub and abandoning people like Miles and Jin, two people who were there with them for 3 years, is perfectly ok and not selfish at all.

She actually planned to get on the sub to get Sawyer and Juliet to help her stop Jack. In season 6 Kate apologized to Sawyer for following them on to the sub. Kate: "I'm sorry, I never should have followed you. I'm sorry for Juliet, if I hadn't come after you on the sub then you two would have left and she would have never died." It's clear she went to look for them specifically.

That’s right, because Richard asked Jacob if he could bring his wife back, and Jacob said he could not. So from Richard’s point of view, either Jacob lied to him or something else was the case.

So, "John" created a time loop with the compass, to get John killed and to orchestrate the whole "loophole" thing. Mastermind, but if we think of what Eloise did with the diary she gave Daniel. Whether it was her intention or not, she created a time loop with Desmond crashing the plane , the coming back of our crew to the island and also the death of her son in the past. And she only had information about the past in the diary, while "John" had all John's memories! A lot to think about, but that's why this show is awesome!

kj robbi Well if you remember when Locke was in the cave before turning the wheel, he speaks to Christian/MiB. He tells Christian that Richard told him he was going to die. That is when the MiB realized Locke would probably die and when he came up with the plan to use Locke to get to Jacob and to manipulate Ben into killing Jacob. Though he also set it all in motion by telling Locke to move the island in the first place, which he could have known to do by running into any of the time travelers in the past and then seeing them again in the future. Overall I’d say the MiB is pretty smart

Yes he had it when John was a child, but that was after John gave it to him on the island and told him to visit him. Also no reactor discussed that because it's not revealed till the next episode and it's forgotten.

Locke gave Richard his own compass, so Richard had two compasses until he gave the newer one to Locke. This is the only explanation that works.

victorsixtythree - actually, wouldn't it already be a 'nothing?' given that the time loop didn't start now, it's been going on for infinity, this has happened already an unlimited amount of times.

@Paulo Pereira It's the same compass, but there are two instances of the same compass after 1954. Richard has to already have the compass for the second compass to have any significance. If he didn't, then Locke is just giving Richard a random meaningless item.

She's not wrong tho. We all know that if time would be erased to moments before the crash she would end up in jail. So you can't count that out. She always things about herself first. Especially since her main argument wasn't "everyone on the island can die". It was "but what about everything that we accomplished and what was between us?". If blowing up the island would end up with her avoiding jail - she would probably take the chance.

I don't think she ever cared about possibly going to jail, she's clearly in love with Jack or she wouldn't of agreed to marry him off the island, of course she'd be devastated he essentially wants to wipe out and forget everything they've been through together and their entire relationship.

Kate had no reason not to think Daniel knew what he was talking about. She didn't want to do it, because she didn't want to change what had happened.

I like Nikki, but I feel like if she were a character on this show, she would be like Shannon at the beginning of season one -- self-absorbed, not really helpful, rude/distrusting/judgmental toward all the other castaways and unwilling to accept the idea that no one is coming to rescue them.
