In this video I wanted to do a more dramatic spring rainbow transfer bloom. I hope this video is helpful and inspiring for you and you enjoy watching this half as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Pillow Paint:
PPG Multi-Pro White/Pastel Base in Eggshell: Found at Home Depot (off the shelf)
Pouring Medium Mix:
Base - Valspar Ultra High Gloss Base C: Found at Lowe’s (In Canada it’s called Valspar Hi Gloss Enamel Base C)
Varnish - Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane Water in Crystal Clear Gloss
PM Mixed 3:1 Base/Varnish
Acrylic Paints/Pigments:
Pebeo Studio Acrylics Iridescent Blue Black & Blue Green
Golden Fluid Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold & Permanent Violet Dark
PM to Paint measurement (ESTIMATE!):
1.5oz (45ml) PM to between 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) to a 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) paint to start. If too thin add a little more paint (or even a gel gloss), if too thick add a little more PM to thin more or even more of your varnish or other acrylic extender/thinner).

Thank you so much Mark! It took me a minute to get used to the transfers and work them to my advantage with the cells (I still have trouble sometimes), you’ll get it though. I think bloom transfers are a bit easier than swipe transfers to save more cells, at least for me anyway, maybe try that! 🤗💜

I love this piece Jodie. I always like black cell activator for the drama. I am a “see faces” person, so I like the original orientation for many reasons, especially for the face on the lower-mid right side - It reminds me of an Ancient or Indigenous face/mask. Hope you can see it too. The colors and shimmer are also amazing. 🙏

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again ( and again…) I L❤️VE the transfer bloom technique.!!! This one is simply gorgeous. And I really like the blow out angle. It’s so informative and I’ve been practicing heaps. As I think it’s all about subtle air movement and you just can’t get that with a hairdryer like I’ve been using. Time to reassess I think🤔. I love your videos as always and I get the feeling you’re finding your groove in your new studio space. Watch out - here comes Jodi 2.0!! Hugs D

😃 I’m so glad you are liking it, I think it’s my favorite now haha! You hit the nail on the head with the blowing, I’ve tried and tried with the dryer but I never get the control my breathe gives me. Just those few colours made alot of Wow! I cant tell you how much you inspired us to keep trying. Still learning that swipe. But no Australian Floetral for a while. It looked like you have 8 colours in this. Very great piece. I love the almost silicone type cells in the middle. Then the rest with the best transfers I've sen. I watch others transfers but these are really a next level. Just Wow.

Ooh, when you had all of the colors together on the first, small canvas, I thought it was so pretty. I kept thinking this pattern was familiar. The cells looked just like cloisonne at time 6:65. Even to the point of some pieces being whole, while other parts were melted. Anyway, I adore the outcome of this painting. And it still has a look of being partially made out of cloisonne. I can see how the cells kept their circle in a circle, in a circle look. It really spun out beautifully. Thank you so much!

Just GORGEOUS, Jodie! You have really become a master of this technique. I wasn't a huge fan of transfers at first, but you've made me love them, although I've yet to attempt one myself. I may go back to "not a fan" status after I give it a shot. LOL! Anyway, beautiful piece. I think it looks good in all four orientations. The second one was probably my favorite actually, but the first was real close. It's beautiful from any angle!!!

Wow, another dynamic piece! Those multi-colored cells are gorgeous! I love them both, so it's hard to pic a fave, lol. Just a thought, would you consider spinning the bloom out a little before transferring the bloom? You could use your small spinner.

Oh I love it! I wish you would have shown us a side by side of the 2 together!! I do love this one but I'm prone to the white c.a. with the gold! I also saw the little sun set before you had even mentioned it I was going to point it out to you lol I also saw a tiny snowman cell great work girl!! I am hooked on this style for sure, I do try to throw something else in the mix just for variety but this is totally my favorite style right now haha! 💜💜

@@ThePaintedDreamer great I'll be checking your walls to see if I see them!! I totally get it, when you have been pouring as long as we have and you come across something different it intrigues you and you have to play and see what all you can do with it, to me seeing you do transfers is like getting to watch 2 pieces at the same time because first you do the bloom then you turn it into another painting so these are my favorites to watch as well as do myself. I keep waiting for you to add pallet knife swipes in these I really wanna see how far you can go with these! I'm hoping one day to see you do a half bloom transfer and half swipe transfer now that would be a fun video to watch 😂 and time consuming as well 🥰🤗💖😍💞❣️🌻

Thank you! No worries you call it whatever you want 😃. I usually call it my spinner box only because it’s literally cardboard boxes taped together sitting on two TV trays. I’m fancy, but someday I hope to build a wood one. I do have metal cake spinners that I use on my bench to move the canvas around while I’m working on it. 🤗💜🤗

Love this piece. I really like black CA. It’s so funny because sometimes right when I’m thinking something, you say it! I was thinking that I loved the original bloom and you should keep it. But I’m glad you followed through with the transfer because it’s beautiful. I also want to tell you that the new camera angle is much better. The last video made it look like you were having to reach too far across your spinner. I think the very last orientation is my fave. It looks like it’s floating up, if that makes sense. I’d love to see you hold the two pieces side by side. Maybe after you resin 😉.

Ha! That’s awesome 😃 I’m glad you loved it 🤗. I loved that bloom so much before the transfer I had to do another one on a piece afterwards haha! That’ll come out later I need to space out this color palette now I think haha! I’m glad you liked the new angle, I got a new video arm and hung it so it’s directly over now the other one was at a weird angle lol the joys of finding new ways to video in a new space but I’m getting there slowly. I’ll show the two pieces together, maybe I’ll hang them on the wall together, that’s a good idea. Thanks girl! 💜💜💜

Thank you Ronda 🤗 the only secret is time, practice and getting your PM and CA consistencies working well in your environment as well as how you blow out, that’s very important. It took me a long time to get a bloom I was remotely happy with 💜

Thank you Cathy! 🤗 Sure the Varathane I use is the regular one now the triple thick was getting too thick for me in winter so I did a series on the regular one when I switched over, it’s the Varathane ultimate water based polyurethane in clear gloss. There’s a picture of it at the end of the video also. I put pictures of everything used there. I think Rustoleum owns Varathane because the back of my can has the rustoleum label. 💜

Have you ever used your base c with pigment as a pillow for a colored background? I want to try this, but wondered if it had been tested before.

I’ve used a base c in satin and then tinted it myself with fluid paints but not pigments. I would think for pigments just turn it into a fluid paint and then add it to your base c. You want a lower sheen base c for your pillow though as it can interact with your PM if things are too glossy. If you want, check out videos 183 & 187 I tinted my pillows in these two pieces.
