I played two seasons of college ball at a small D1 school, it was fun but man nothing is better than high school football… I know I sound like an old head(I’m 28, so I kinda am) but if you’re still in high school and playing football enjoy every second of it, the ups and the downs. When I was a freshman in high school, our senior running back was 5'8" 240lbs and was the fastest guy on the team. Legit NFL strength too. He played linebacker at a small college because that is the only college that allowed him to become a game warden, which was his dream job. Dude set the school record for squatting and would rep 3 plates on each side like it was a cake walk when he did bench press. He averaged like 40 carries and 300 yards per game lol...But for some reason he didn't want to pursue football outside of college, and just wanted to become a game warden. I'll never understand it

Eh, everyone's got different goals, values and interests. Being a college or professional athlete is a crazy big commitment, puts a lot of pressure and stress on you and can get in the way of pursuing other interests in life. I can totally understand someone not wanting to pursue sports after highschool or college, even if they're good enough. Good for him, I l'd say - knowing what he wanted to do and going after it! :)

I can understand it. We had a dude in my High School in Texas that legit could've made the NFL. Only played college ball so he could get a full ride scholarship and get a nice paying job. Said he'd rather not risk injuries, unstable teams, all the travel, and dealing with contracts and fans

I can't imagine being in HS having to tackle a 240lb rb. My hs tailback in 1990 was 5'10" and 210. He was considered big. I did go to same HS as Ron Dayne though. So I guess he was like these guys back then.

Yup, very unusual. Back when I was going to school in Hawaii in the 90s there was a running back Chris Fuamatu-Maafala who was 6 feet, 250 lbs in high school, eventually went to the NFL. Highly unusual especially back then when players were lighter.

I kid you not, I played against Derrick Henry back in 9th and 10th grade and he literally just ran all over us😂 crazy stats both years. He went to Yulee HS I went to Englewood HS in Jacksonville, FL. Dude was huge! Basically did the same thing he did in the NFL. I know you probably won't believe it but that's ok I understand. 😅

Im not even from here, and I recognized the talent discrepancy from other places I've lived. Virginia comes in a Close second, the Tide Water Area Mick Vicks, Aaron Brooks, Ronald Curry & Allen Iversons old stomping Grounds. in my state we have the rockford rams and they went undefeated, went to states but unfortunately they lost in the championship, but they had one game where they almost lost but came back in 4th quarter down 35 to 7. I live in Michigan btw

They have two D1 RBs that are going to Oregon State and USC? One goes a PAC-12 weak ass conference and the other starting next year goes to The Big Ten Conference but playing for USC. I wanna see them play next season.
