He was one of the best written characters ever. His personality always feel real and never suddenly he does a personality switch. He’s always who he is since we really first met him. As much as people say he’s overrated (which yes sometimes I can agree with) it’s for good reason I feel. He was done absolutely so so well

He was so interesting. Never dull. Doesn’t mean his actions were perfect. He’s not liked for being the most positive, or his powers, he’s liked for his dynamicness.

Jayfeather is my all time favourite too of course but I can't help but feel that the romance plot with him was rushed and half-assed. He never wanted to be in a romantic relantionship with any cat nor have kits and the authors didn't give him enough time to explain the change of mind. Not only that, making him sacrifice his dream life for his family again is too much. He has suffered enough, sacrificed enough, there was no need for him to "prove" himself yet again. He was one of the very few options for asexual/aromantic representation in the books so I guess that hate towards the plot is also quite on a personal level lol

Dude seriously needs therapy. He has so much bottled up emotion from others underestimating him, mistreating him, and making him feel like his blindness was something to be ashamed of. Now he feels like he can’t ask for help or be friendly or show his care for other people because he thinks it will show his “weakness”. He thinks other people will see it as an opportunity to step all over him and make him feel bad about himself. His feelings are so valid and realistic. That’s why he’s relatable. I could literally write a whole essay about him. I’m desperately in need a jayfeather super edition where he learns to heal urgggg make it happen Erins Thank you for putting this video together! More people need to see why he behaves the way he does. His mental health is glossed over so much

Thanks for the video! I always thought they did Jayfeather dirty forcing him into the medicine den. Like, the majority of a warrior's tasks are hunting and border patrol, and Jayfeather could do those things just fine without sight. He'd likely need extra help in battle, but it feels a little ableist of warriors to put all the disabled cats in the medicine den or have them retire early.

His character really resonates with me on a whole level. I'm so glad to see a character exists in the books who I can deeply relate and connect with, especially as someone who's disabled and easily irritable and quick-tempered like me. No cat can replace Jayfeather. Ever.

I like Jayfeather cause of his wit and sarcasm! He’s was such a change from the typical himbo drama main character that Firestar and Brambleclaw were and that was refreshing to me! Plus the way he has only a select few people that are truly close to him is so relatable!

jayfeather had always been my favorite character since his first appearance. his personality always seemed to be the most relatable out of the whole cast, and his character arc was probably one of the few that was handled pretty well. if the erins ever decide to have him die in a future book (which i hope we wont ever have to see) I will legit cry. i feel like warrior cats just wont be the same without him

It doesn't take a Havard degree to realize just how popular jayfeather is amongst the Fandom, like it seems that almost everyone has him as their favorite, or within their top 5, no doubt his character was incredibly well written. Personally, I've never really been able to connect to medicine cats for some reason, other then yellowfang and sandstorm(who was a temporary one). Regardless, no doubt Jay is beloved by the overwhelming majority of this community, which makes me wonder just how everyone would react if the Erin's killed him off😅.

Your video gave me shivers and made me cry towards the end. Jayfeather has been my favorite character ever since I first read The Sight when I was nine years old. You explained the whole buildup towards the reveal that he was born blind so beautifully. These first few pages were the reason why Jayfeather was so special to me from the start. Reading from his POV was so interesting. I loved how the beginning of his POV in The Sight was written in a way that you wouldn't be able to even tell that he's any different than his littermates. The reveal really blew my mind when I first read it as a child. Jayfeather faces unique challenges in his life and tells a story that no other protagonist except Jayfeather could have told. There are other protagonists in Warrior Cats who could swap places and it wouldn't make any difference for the story. Like you could exchange Violetpaw and Twigpaw in A Vision of Shadows for Ivypaw and Dovepaw and they would act the same way. (As much as I love Violetpaw and Twigpaw) But you couldn't put Jayfeather in any other character's shoes without changing the story drastically. He is unique, not only from his upbringing, but also his personality and how he interacts with the events that happen around him. I love Jayfeather! Reading from his perspective is such a breath of fresh air

I recently had my partner start reading warriors and I started them on Power of Three because I felt he'd like Jayfeather so much, and his blindness reveal is one of my absolute favorite pieces of Warriors writing. (They're only two books in but have actually taken to *Lionblaze* the most out of the siblings somehow, haha)

STOP I ALMOST CRIED Seriously tho, I had a phase where I hated Jayfeather (when i was like 13-15, I'm 20 now). I also used to SKIP his chapters so I could read about Hollyleaf lmao. I was young and kind of dumb, and I didn't understand the hype around him. I recently started to like him because he's funny to read. I also love his sarcasm. I'll always prefer Hollyleaf as my all time favorite, but Jayfeather's a close second for sure!!

I'm 21 now and I read a lot of these books back in middle school around the time I was 12 and these videos are one massive nostalgia trip I know the series is ongoing and, well, maybe I just have to get back into it now Jayfeather will always be one of my favourite characters

i love jayfeather cuz as a hard of hearing person, i understood everything he went through. i knew exactly why he is the way he is and loved that the ern hunter never change his personality like they did for the other cats throughout the whole story.

I flipping LOVE jayfeather. Ever since the first book of power of three, he’s been one of my fav characters. Whenever he proves himself it’s always satisfying, and you end up rooting for him in a tough situation.

Jayfeather as a character was an inspiration for me to write in general, I've never seen a blind character be written as well have a character that was written in such an interesting perspective as well. He's just such an unforgettable character and that's something I like.

I want to pre-face this (after writing this all) I am an ex? jayfeather-hater? Albeit main books wise.... that didn't last too long. And now I'm more neutral to him. Also a bit of a tangent so I apologize for that ahead of time, sometimes I can't summarize my thoughts very well, but this is in no way an angry hate rant. ^^; As overall, I agree with the video, which honestly.... is kind of disappointing there won't be another like him. --- Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of Jay, I personally read it without knowing he was blind, and I only remember middleschool me being like, "oh, okay, that makes sense." but overall eps in power of three, I couldn't get over him just being a jerk xD I wanted him to be a warrior too, but with just dealing with young, edgy jaypaw and just not dealing well with the overall pacing, I left the third arc and warriors for YEARS at the beginning ish? of the third? book. I wound up reading up on what happened all together in them and learned more and more just from being in the community since then, s Crookedstar's promise opened the gateway of me reading warriors again and i picked up omen of the stars later on. I think it helps to mention it wasn't my first warriors books, I read TNP first actually. I also in general disliked how the three treated squirrelflight after learning she adopted them, as an adoptee, overall, I HATE this trope with a burning passion. Overall it made me appreciate the three even less. Squirrelflight loved them and did her best and yes she hid that fact for her sister. and Leafpool literally only listened to spottedleaf, and squirrelflight also yellowfang. ontop of that Leafpool was the only remaining medicine cat at the time. ^^; Which yes, not all those details came out- which I think is stupid as well- but I don't see why she would be so villianized by them its ridiculous. THOUGH you'd think with them knowing about the prophecy of three, that it'd click some more and sooner that hey, they were meant to be born anyway. and as I get alot older I feel like he makes alot of sense, and I can appreciate him more, esp as I agree many of the POV characters can be very same-y, I just.... after everything I still don't quite like him, I feel however more neutral after reading him in omen of the stars and all the books since then. and While I feel as though by the fans specifically he's kinda overhyped, I think its a bit of a shame that the Erens don't spice up thier main casts more and the main variations we get come from then super editions and novellas, I can get why people do like him for all of that. nor do i blame him for being upset at people for treating him too differently, but I didn't appreciate his treatment of Brightheart or Longtail, I fully get him being born blind didnt put him at the same disadvantage as them, however, they were the best options he had for mentorship as so many other cats rely on thier eyesight too much. I am still mad he didnt become a warrior, to be honest as well, I feel like the ableism in warriors is a bit much. I just feel like they could of written that pretty differently. I don't mind him overall being a sarcatsic, cynical, sourpuss, as honestly I do like that about him. I really liked how he interacted with briarlight and just how... toned down he was after he grew some, I just didn't appreciate him being a bit of an a-hole when he was young.... and to squirrelflight & leafpool but he wasn't the only one there so its not so much a him-thing. xD I think its a real missed oppurtunity that they don't have as much variation to thier main cast. I think they do need more similar to him in personality. Like how I feel Alderheart brought more to the table and Shadowsight and Flamepaw bringing that sort of personality trope along. We need more grumpuses.

That exclusive scene made me tear up. Jayfeather is probably my favorite character. I'm publishing my first book this friday and the medic in the story is heavily inspired by Jayfeather. He can't hold a torch to him, though.

You know, I really do like jayfeather, and as much as I say I love every other character from A to Z more, I really don’t think there’s any character who’s as well written as him in the series, maybeeee besides feathertail (COUGH. Totally not biased LOL) I like how he definitely puts on a facade of anger and hate, but in reality that facade isn’t fully true. I love that part about him it’s probably the most relatable part about him, and not to be mean to the other po3 characters but… GOD Holly first of all.. I get how she always yearned for the spotlight (thus wanting to be a med cat because of the attention it bought to her) and I understand how the fact that she was so loyal to the warrior code and whatnot, and how it destroyed her when she found out the basis of her existence was just like.. everything she was AGAINST, but still I can’t help and dislike her? and come on.. do I even have to explain lionblaze?

As someone who has partial vision, I relate. Not completely, but to a degree. I've only got vision in my right eye and the crap effected by that is annoying. Not to mention my other issues that make life even harder.

Jayfeather, even before this video, has been my favorite medicine cat. I loved that character from the very first time I read Power of Three. (Which small fact about myself, my school library didnt have TNP so I was a bit lost when I read PoT after Firestar's quest. Probably good I read Firestar's quest second because I was aware of the three kin of your kin prophech going in. Just not the lake, Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight, or Cinderpelt being dead. I was just super confused seeing the lake territory and upset (I was a kid and didn't like changes without warning) the clan moved, but Jayfeather sort of made me forget why I was upset.) Just the way they wrote him before we find out he was blind. It was a really cool reveal. The small Barnes and Noble exclusive in TBC first book actually made me cry a little when I read it and I wish it had been available to everyone. It would explain more of his character and show his softer side, I mean he asked for Alderheart to stay at his side when he spoke to StarClan. That is just a very rare occurrence to see in this character. I also absolutely adored how he described the lake to Brightheart when he was her apprentice. It just shows that while he is blind, he is a very capable and strong addition to ThunderClan and I love him.

So for me Jayfeather is and always was 1 of my favorites if not my favorite because he’s so interesting and relatable. The other characters of PO3 & OOTS were just… boring in comparison to him. Yeah i liked Holly Leaf back than. But like Jay is a friggin ball of DIFFERENT!

for a bit of context, i started reading warriors when i was 9 (in 4th grade) and ended when i was 14 (in 8th grade). i am now 16. i haven’t read any of the books since the last book of VOS after i got it for my 14th birthday, i was so done with the series. i absolutely hated VOS. it had a horrible story line, and i hated the whole kin and darktail thing and absolutely despised needletail. (i still do not gonna lie). i guess that’s why i stopped reading, but let me move on to my actual point. the first ever book i read was eclipse from PO3. 9 year old me had no idea what was going on in the book, but i grew to love it. jaypaw quickly became one of my favorites, with how he viewed everything so much more different compared to his siblings. i also loved his comments towards everything and everyone. i was never an outspoken and carefree kid, so seeing something like jaypaw made me content. after eclipse, i picked out the next book from my school library, which was the fourth apprentice from OOTS. in all honesty, i never figured out he was blind for a while and this book showed me. it made a lot more sense because it was either dovepaw or ivypaw that outright said it about him. when i returned to read OOTS a year later, there i found ivypaw, and i loved her. i don’t remember why but i think it was because she always put dovepaw in her place which i also absolutely hated when i was ten. dovewing was my least favorite character for years and she was until needletail came along… anyways, as the months went on, i learned that i was reading completely out of order and that’s why nothing made sense. so, i convinced my mom to buy me the PO3 series for christmas. PO3 changed my life. it grew to become my favorite series of warriors (now that’s DOTC bc of gray wing!) and i got to read about my fave cat of all time, jayfeather. to be honest i hated hollyleaf. everything she did and said made 10 year old me so mad and i remember being so angry over her trying to kill leafpool, which i didn’t know anything about her besides her being their mom. i was weird. as i grew up, jayfeather became not only a cat i liked, but someone i began to relate to. i began to see more similarities between him and i when i finally became a teenager, and it made feel like someone actually understood me. (at the time i was struggling with an ed & depression & anxiety). he also stood strong whenever everyone hated on him, or harassed him, or basically when he went through anything! i loved that about him, he made feel proud. i honestly could say the same about ivypool, she reminded me of jayfeather for some reason i don’t remember, and it was also why she replaced jayfeather as my favorite character years ago. i’m so thankful for warriors and though it may be just silly teenager books, i probably wouldn’t be here if i hadn’t started reading them.

Honestly he just wasn't enough to hold together two whole arcs i wasn’t very invested in. I didn’t like either of his siblings then Dovewing was boring so he was trying to make up for the other pov characters in very drawn out and boring arcs. So yeah his arcs were where i stopped with the series for a while only recently getting drawn back in
