I love the "this boys are emotionally intelligent", at least Luffy is an emocional genius, the fact that he get people the moment he met them and then in a matter of seconds how to make them happy or even how to save them, and if you dont past the vibe check you deserve his ass kicking...

They made Garp seem much more menacing towards Luffy in the live-action adaptation because they wanted to establish him, along with Koby and Helmeppo, as consistent characters within the show's storyline. Additionally, this change allowed them to introduce the concept of the Marines' moral code, where each member adheres to their own sense of justice, showcasing that not all Marines are necessarily good people. Given that, they dont actually reveal that he is his grandpa until hundreds of episodes later in the anime where he is seen more carefree like Luffy.

Re: Arlong, this is not what you were asking for, but in the original we see several moments of him having very serious concern for his crew. Even no-name extras, when he sees them hurt, he gets worried for their sake and then vengeful when he learns who is responsible. He really does care... about Fishmen. He really, truly, irrevocably hates humans, and holds every last human responsible for the atrocities against his people.

I understand your confusion. The Usopp vs Chu scene wasn't made very well. Basically... Usopp is a coward. If that wasn't clear enough. So, when he was being chased and attacked by a powerful fishman, he thought of the hot sauce/ketchup trick to save himself and have Chu go away and leave him alone. However, in the original, Usopp at that point started being conflicted. The part of him that was afraid wanted Chu to leave. But another part of him knew that Sanji and Zoro had their hands full already, and if he let Chu go he would have hurt his comrades and/or the villagers. So him playing dead at first and then shouting out immediately after wasn't part of one big (confusing) plan. It was just Usopp finding his courage, changing his mind and deciding to pull his weight. ✌️😁

Oda, the original author, is a master at making you fall in love with and truly care about characters. And he's also great about making his characters dynamic and nuanced, where you will genuinely like and care about even antagonists. Many characters have history, connections, relationships, and goals outside of anything directly having to do with the main cast, and world events do move forward on their own whether the Straw Hats are involved or not. It's literally one of the best stories told in the modern era, and in every way is a true epic save for the fact that it's not a poem.

When Ussop faked his death the point was to flee from that battle and make an excuse after, but what they didn't adapt was the part of his struggle to be able to do that, considering that everyone in the crew was risking their life in this battle. He gathered courage and faced the enemy in front of him.

As a fan of this series for over 15 years, who was just called cringey for believing in dreams, ostracized for liking anime and never understanding why the mainstream audience would be against a beautiful tale like this…..this show gave the new generation an opportunity to enjoy it with such glory. There is one rule of thumb in the One Piece community. Only one rule we all came to thuroughly understand, and that is that Oda (the creator) never forgets any character or plot thread. Prepare to be surprised when you don't expect it; and the surprises always make sense.

Just wanted to point out that Garp is just _one_ Vice-Admiral for a *world's* primary military force. It's subtle world-building. But the only clear Marine divisions we see in the LA is Morgan's, Garp's, and Nezumi's. So, while Morgan and Nezumi must adhere to Garp bc of ranking, Garp is not actually in charge of them, unlike Coby and Helmeppo, who work directly under his command. This is why both Nezumi and Morgan can get away with their own underhandedness and why Nezumi can post a bounty without needing Garp's permission. This, along with how Garp is able to go after Luffy without any conflicts from other Marine divisions, esp those _not_ under his command, is telling in just how separated the Marines, in its entirety, actually are. I personally don't think Garp was trying to have Luffy be arrested/known as a pirate this whole time until the end tho, which is why he was trying so hard to keep any other divisions out of his chase with Luffy (like not agreeing to Coby's suggestion abt bringing in another division and going for Mihawk instead). Bc if he caught Luffy, it'd be easy for him to use his rank and position to dismiss his crimes or claims to piracy bc no one would've been involved to be able to counter him.

An interesting change from the Manga to LA. In the Manga, everyone from Nami's village knew what she was trying to do. It was one of the reasons why the villagers were able to endure for so long, they did it for Nami. And, Nami's sister, the reason she got her tattoo was to make Nami feel better about being forced to get her tattoo. Little changes, not sure why? Maybe they liked the idea of Nami being on her own with this burden? Not sure?

In the anime Sanji and Zoro just dont like and always bickering at each other. BUT they do respect each other.

In the anime, NAMI took back the money and left it for the village before she sails with the straw hats to start their adventure😊

They don't say this in the live action but in the anime when Mihawk is fighting Zoro, Mihawk says the East Blue is the weakest of the four seas so Luffy has the highest bounty in the weakest sea. That said none of the North, South, West, and East Sea hold a candle to what is in the Grand Line.

If you react to the anime version of One Piece, it will be clearer and more detailed. In this Live Action, it has been explained by Eiichiro Oda himself that the scenes will be shortened and the characters reduced because there are too many, but according to Nakama or One Piece fans, the missing characters have very influential and important roles. so I hope you will watch the anime version of One Piece someday.. 💯

It’s a story about journey, mysteries, friends, families, hopes, dreams, courages, sacrifices, justices, literally almost everything you want exist in this show. And i love how they start to think about how roger as a man was. That’s a great start for one piece. The curiosity. Ofc she would get the answer when she read the manga / watch the anime. Cause one piece have most of the answers you curious about and unlike another series where some things are still left unanswered.

I'm convinced Garp changed his mind in that last second when Luffy started laughing because he reminded him of Gold Roger. He never truly was testing Luffy and more so trying to convince himself that he could change Luffy with enough force. I think if Garp was more honest with himself he would've said it too, even at the end when he decides to train Koby and Helmeppo he thinks back to Zeff's words that it's "their" turn, as in the new generation.

What wasnt really emphasized in the live action was that the map room was Nami’s cage essentially. So when Luffy and Arlong were fighting inside, Luffy intentionally wrecks the room to symbolize him breaking Nami from her chains. Not just because he wants to wreck what Arlong built. It was so well done in the anime where they went back and forth to Nami crying and Luffy slowly destroying the room. Just a bit of trivia for ya

As someone who has read the manga, what I love the most about this show are all the inbetween scenes we never got in the manga. For example, Zoro being recruited to an organization. We hear he did and in this we get to see that conversation. I loved the Garp, Koby and Helmepo storyline and we never got that in the manga or anime. We did get covers stories that show how Koby's early days were in the Marines but Garp was never there. We don't even see Garp till much much later on. There were a lot of fans of the original that didn't like this change but I very much liked it. In this, instead of random marines that catch then at Coco Village, it's his grandfather and a kid he made friends with early in his start as a pirate. It holds more weight since we've been following both sides all this time. This show was masterfully done and I can't wait to see what else they have planned because One Piece will keep getting bigger and more emotional as the story progresses.

The reason the Garp scene felt strange is because it was entirely non canon to the original story. In the original story you dont even find out Garp is Luffys grandfather until 300+ episodes/chapters in. I believe they added Garp as a main character to give a better highlight that the Marines have bad eggs AND good eggs, and that a LOT of people in the story are in the grey area morally. Without Garp and Koby you'd mostly just assume that Marines are just corrupt assholes(which isnt entirely wrong but still).

Usopp's dad is the one in dreads who states "guess we better watch our backs". So glad ODA made sure this was translated to tv with his vision and approval. What an amazing first season to the greatest story ever told.

I like if you go back and watch the first episode you can see a young Shanks and MiHawk in the crowd at the beginning.

In the Original Manga Ussop supposed to be faking death because he is too scared to fight Chuu (the fishmen). Chuu supossed to think Usop's died and about to get back to the Arlong park to regroup with other fishmen who are fighting the rampaging Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji. In the manga however, Ussop is much more cowardice and plan to just keep pretending to be dead and just wait for Luffy, Sanji, and Zorro to fight the battle themselves and hope the crews would not mind it. He is preparing for all kind of excuses and lies to be made to the crew, but he is so conflicted at how his friends are fighting to the death trying their best to save Nami right now meanwhile he contribute nothing, even trying to run away from the battle. He feel ashamed and finally found his courage and decided to stand up and fight Chuu before he manage to go back to the Arlong Park. And the rest, well.. the details of the actual fight are not important but Usop win, barely. The Live action done a good job to simplify it for runtime sake, but i just want you to know the actual story is actually much more nuanced and contain a very important character development for Ussop.

What's so crazy is those tangerines are still with them on their ship to this day, Luffy is a real one.

Its very interesting seeing everyone's reaction and predictions. The more predictions the more theories. You girls are very observant and smart. I love it! You girls are right about certain characters coming back, idk about arlong but maybe we will see him again in the manga, but all 3 of you are paying attention to the right characters. Your questions towards the end, hopefully, will be answered in the future if they continue to do the series right. One thing is for sure, Garp had to test him to give himself reassurance that Luffy was ready mentally, physically, and emotionally for the future, to become King of the Pirates.

Favourite reaction channel, y’all so wholesome Y’all should consider watching the anime. I know it’s long as hell and therefore pretty daunting; but it’s incredibly written and if you enjoyed the live action, I think anyone who’s seen both would say the anime puts the live action to shame with how good it is.

So so much got condensed into 8 episodes that some of the points and questions asked in the end part of this are addressed or answered if you get to watch one piece anime or read the manga. I would really recommend it. An odd thing if you do want to watch the anime, lots of guides that take away filler episodes sometimes end up making the anime unappealing in terms of character moments or little world building bits. Which really makes watching it feel like a gargantuan task. Despite what it may have come off of when I talked about the Zoro and Nami shipping comments, your reviews, reactions, commentary and editing was super entertaining and fun to watch. I hope to see you guys again for season 2 (which will have some good food for Zoro enjoyers and introduce the character I shipped him with the most aside from Sanji 😉). And yes most of us were probably freaking out at the teaser.

Loved your reactions all the way through the season, but the reaction to this season finale was probably the best. Like you, I can't wait for season two. I'm starting a rewatch of the anime in the meantime. If you ladies are that eager for more, I would suggest that you watch the anime as well. That would let you compare the differences, see the stuff that was left out, AND experience more of the story while you wait for the live action to continue. Garp is a unique marine and not really meant to be understood until later in the story. I'll just say he has a LOT of notoriety among the marines. He really just does whatever the hell he wants lol. The whole Garp storyline here wasn't in the anime/manga so at times it does feel a bit odd but they did well enough with it that it's a positive addition to the story, and great for newcomers to the series as it helps highlight the good/bad pirate/marine stuff earlier, without having to wait over a year for another season to introduce that stuff

The ending was so perfect and emotional! DREAM is indeed the core theme in One Piece.

To clarify, the character in the final shot is Smoker. As for Arlong, he is likely gone. He hasnt been seen again since that fight, maybe with the exeption of a single shot of him in prison, but in season 6 we should get his full backstory, because it relates to other characters.

REALLY enjoyed this reaction! That entire ending always gets me. So, likely when you finished the last ep, you're probably considering reacting to the anime, so this is just an opinion if you are (again, no spoilers in this, of course): One Piece is a longform anime, which means, like, for example in an episode of Demon Slayer several plot points can be dealt with in one episode, but in One Piece, just one plot point can be stretched out over several episode which makes the arcs VERY LONG. These episodes cover *approximately* 60 episode (more or less, with some additions...etc). So IF you're considering reacting to the anime, Id suggest reacting to like 6 - 8 episodes per video. Sounds unusual at first, I know, but think about once a week, for 1000+ episodes, not only is it not practical, you just won't get enough 'story' out of one episode, youll feel forced to watch the next one (with the recap of the previous episode and the intro, an episode is like 18 - 19 mins). Anyway, IF you guys decide to react to it, believe me, putting out a reaction video of 6 - 8 episodes every other week or something makes so much more sense. Season 2 will take at least like 2 years or something so you have time to get catch up with the first 60, and STILL not spoil the live action season 2 stuff Just an idea if you're considering it.
