I think it’s also the case, considering Steven himself had to learn his powers over time, tapping into them and not using it to his full potential. While Pink Steven would have known in itself its capabilities therefore able to deflect the most powerful diamonds attacks. According to one of the crewniverse's statements, 2. won't happen. Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz is pretty much in fact gone. She won't be returning even if Steven passes away. Rose has completely given up her form for Steven, and so the gem would most likely never reform back to Pink/Rose. Though if Rose was still alive and Steven wasn't born yet, then she'd still be able to form herself back into Pink Diamond. But to what story we have, Steven is a half human, half gem, and he is himself, so there's no way Pink/Rose would be able to form back, as Steven has taken over her gem for 14 years, to my understanding at least.

I agree with you Steve is a fusion. This may be a stretch but I'll try to make a point. In a way humans are a fusion of their parents. Humans have the genetic makeup of each parent but we don't have the memories or personalities of our parents. We have to learn those traits. Pure Gem fusions have the combination of the physical, mental and personalities of the Gems forming the fusions. Now Rose loved that a human's purpose is not predetermined. Humans can choose be whatever they want and learn and grow. These were things she wanted for herself but she wasn't going to deny her child those very same things. So she buried her personality and allowed Steven total control of the fusion. Now the only outward imprint on the Gemstone is Steven. That's why reformed Gem body was a Pink Steven.

I think that will be difficult to attain. Pink Steven certainly shows that Steven has a TON of potential, and certainly has a long way to go before he reaches peak power. However, pink Steven is literally all his power, without any checks or balances. Steven would have to stop being him, basically, in order to unleash his full power. He would have to have no limits, no attachment, no sense of preservation for himself or those around him. I don't see that happening. But I do think this opens up the possibility of Steven getting way stronger down the road!

There are two strains of thoughts when it comes to rose quartz/pink diamond. there are those who believe that she should remain dead, completely gone so that it can be relatable to the people who have parents who are gone, then there are the people who want the Disney happy ending, where everything set right and his mother comes back, we know it's not realistic but we still want to because we want him to be happy. That’s exactly how I think it is, especially if when you pay attention to when Steven and pink Steven fuse you can distinctly hear a feminine laugh mixed in. Rose/PD IS Steven now but Steven is not Rose/PD. That’s why Steven says ‘I’m me, I’ve always been me.’ Because he’s always been himself he’s not a piece of Rose/PD, she’s a piece of him. Everyone wants to say that Rose/PD is completely gone but she’s not. She’s Steven and Steven will always be Steven.

The way I interpreted the scene was that Pink Steven was indeed Pink/ Rose but that Pink/ Rose no longer identified as being an entity other than Steven. Which is why they took on that appearance. Why else would they have been crying and hugging when looking at that way? I get that the hug was a form of fusion, but I think realistically that was Steven hugging his mother. She is gone because she is a part of Steven. The Gem part. The human part is his own being. There really is nothing identical to him and Rose other than they were both considered to be younger or at least less experienced than those around them. Pink even as Rose was a selfish person who thought of herself and not others, which is probably where Steven came about. I'm sure that as much as we know she wasn't thinking about how it would affect the other Crystal Gems she also wasn't thinking about Greg. That's not Steven as at all. I'm pretty sure that Rose/Pink is actually gone, like maybe some of her memories are still in there but her personality itself has essentially been erased since Pink Steven lacked any personality and seemed to believe that Pink was gone. This was also kind of the end of Steven's identity crisis. He's been struggling with whether or not he was him for a while now. Not just people wanting him to be like Rose or Pink but from people genuinely believing he is her and him doubting whether or not they're wrong. Especially when he sang "Familiar" he was starting to believe that Pink might be messing with his personality and decisions and that the diamonds could have been right in that she might actually come back and that he would essentially disappear. After he refused with Pink Steven he told Connie "I'm me. I've always been me" because he seemed to have found out that Pink wasn't affecting his decisions or personality and reassuring him that "He's not his mom." Also In the VHS tape with Rose people interpreted it as her saying she would still be with him but it was confirmed that she was speaking metaphorically. The same way other people are still with us after death.

You can't hide the fact that steven's gem original form was Pink Diamond so it was meant to reform back as Pink Diamond That is why they ended up creating this kind of THEORY after the rejuvenator accident. Because Steven and Pink are 2 different people that share the same gem. Steven didn't turn back because he's half human and was able to keep his memory but what really happened to his gem half where he can only explain "it feels as if I was back when I was a kid again" also gems are immortal só they can't die unless shattered but the diamond can fix this
