Just a Few Acres Farm

2 жыл бұрын

These animals need to move to new pasture: chickens, turkeys, and cattle. Some of them got impatient and moved themselves! Hilarie and I have a busy day getting them all rearranged, and I have some time afterwards to get another long delayed project finally done.
Note:
-We do not offer farm tours or accept visitors
-We do not sell from the farm
-We do not ship our farm's products
-We do not sell live animals

Pete, I keep a spray can of starting fluid (ether) handy for those reluctant engines that don't seem to want to start putt-putting. If it still won't start, I know there's a bigger problem. Also, when I got my 'big' generator (6250 watts) after Zeta last year, I got a little tool bag to hold the accessories for it, wrenches, extension cords, manual, extra fuel line, etc. Keeps all that stuff together so I don't have to go hunting for it when I need it, and I figured power is important enough to dedicate a few tools strictly to that use. Didn't help much this year; after half an hour of looking for the extension cords I could swear came with the thing, my wife and/or son had to remind me that they were in the bag. Yep, they were.

Either use with a small engine is a bad idea, if you’ve gotten away with it you have been lucky. I’ve seen broken Head bolts, blown head gaskets, bent rods, broken rods through the side of the blown. If you insist on using it pull the spark plug and spray a little on that and reinstall. Good luck

Your comment about 'Homemade Blacktop' reminded me of when I grew up in the 60's. My family had a fruit farm in Germantown, NY. Back then the farmers would save all the oil from the tractors and other machines and use it to spread on the dirt roads in the orchards. This was done to keep the dust down. We also had some old dirt roads that the town maintained. Back then the town would also use a tanker truck and spread old oil on the dirt roads for 'dust control'.

Absolutely love your videos! You don’t just show yourself working and you take time to explain the “whys and hows” of farming and marketing with great added humor. You’re my FAVORITE utube contributor. I love the way you care for the animals in a quiet peaceful compassionate way instead of all the hoopla most farmers do to get them fed, moved etc. You fully explain the reasoning of what and how you do your business and the realities of the farm with those little splotches of sly humor. Loved how you rebuilt the old homestead. Im in the process of liquidating my small sport horse breeding farm and i know how much work goes into any endeavor with animals and with so much variety on your farm I’m in awe of how you keep up with it but it shows how a “labor of love” can make a life fulfilling. Its time to fully retire for me and relax but its a difficult process as I’m sure it was to decide to leave your architecture career and venture into a totally different lifestyle. Keep those wonderful videos coming and educating people in the realities of a sustainable farm. YOU DONE GOOD! Keep them coming You’re the best!!
