I love boots, I tend to wear them most of the year - they just make sense for my life. Hiking, working around the property, going to the grocery store in a blizzard, whatever it is - boots keep my feet dry, comfortable, and protected. Enter the Lems Boulder Summit Waterproof Boots - the most comfortable pair of boots that I've ever tried. My feet loved these boots from the moment I put them on - finally a boot that my feets are happy in. This is largely due to their anotamically correct wide toe box, and I guess the zero rise type stuff probably helps too. In any case, I've briefly mentioned the Lems Boulder Summit Waterproof Boots in passing in a few videos, and have received a lot of emails, comments, messages asking more about them, so I figured I'd toss this quick boot video together.
I also love the Lems Outlander Boot - which I talk about a bit in this video.

Your gear reviews are great, please keep them coming! At least half of your viewers probably wear Vertx apparel and carry Skeletools/OLights. Your reviews typically offer a more useful perspective with good detail and a “why I like to use this.” Thanks for all the great content.

I love your product review videos as well as all of your overlanding videos. I especially love your annual gift guide video. I enjoyed your series of building your house as I am in the middle of a remodeling my house built in 1960. I too have a lot of land and you have given me some great ideas. The only downside for me if you do more product reviews is I am going to end up buying more gear much to the chagrin of my wife who is more on the frugal side. Thanks for showcasing the Lems, I am currently in the market for new hiking boots. I will be checking these out. Thanks for all of the great videos.

I always love your reviews. We’re similar build and I’ve found I usually like your taste in clothing. I actually got some Lems Boulder boots this last summer! Crazy find in Alaska. I haven’t worn them much, my current favorite shoe is the Altama Maritime Assault Mid. They’re the ultimate practical “tactical” vans style shoes. Great traction, super comfy and fast drying. I found them in my quest for barefoot footwear. I ordered a half size larger and a wide size. I may have to check out the Summits. Great unexpected review. So the deal with barefoot zero drop is that you’ll let your foot flex naturally and your skeleton will move and posture naturally. For most people that is great, you’ll experience less fatigue and less wear and tear to your skeleton. Where boots with high heel drops and crazy support come in handy is for jobs that push the human body to its limit for extended periods of time. Loggers NEED logger boots. It’s like a 3500/350 truck pulling a heavy load. It needs the stiffened suspension to perform under load. But if you drive them empty they ride rough and in some cases you can cause engine and transmission damage if they aren’t being used the way it was designed. Caveat, I just did a bunch of research because I find this topic fascinating. I like learning about why humans face the problems we never used to face.

Long time watcher, comments here and there. Full honesty and don't take too much into it, I TRUST YOUR OPINION. It has influenced my life, maybe in not so significant ways day to day, but rather the icing on the cake. I have some mini boats myself and have always struggled with shoes since probably 14 years old (size 13E, 13 wide) My typical experience in a shoe store is just telling the salesperson, bring me whatever you have in 13, which usually limits me to a few choices. REI actually has a decent selection of large sizes and wide options so that has been my go to in recent years. I have been rocking a Timberland classic boot, no toe box or anything for a few years and it's probably the most comfortable day to day, although heavy. Back to on topic, there is a very good chance I'll try these out at some point because of the previously mentioned trust and lifestyle parallels. I do work in an office, but am frequently on my feet, I have dogs and bike and hike and I'm in the dirt daily. I work on things in my garage and in the driveway, build things around the house and normal shoes just tend to break down in 6 months. The quick 10-15 minutes and a little texture videos work perfectly. 🤙

I got into the bare foot / minimalist shoes a long time ago. Back when five toe shoes were a thing, yeah they looked weird by they were comfy. The last 5 years I've had to wear heavy duty boots for work with not a lot of time for other foot wear. I've just recently got back into zero drop shoes and now own two pair of Lems, the Primal Zen and the Primal Pursuit Mid WP. Both are comfortable and good looking shoes while being very practical. Recently did a 11+ mile mountain hike wearing the Pursuits and feet felt fine all the way up and down.

Your product reviews are easily one of my favorite review sources, you’re awesome at it, however it is pretty awesome to see you branching out into things you enjoy doing, cause your preparation/weekenderlander videos are also awesome! So I’d say a random sprinkle of product reviews is good, but don’t do so many that it burns you out.👍

I wear Lems waterproof boulder boots every day for work, and their Oxfords on the weekends. Other shoe I wear a lot is vivobarefoot ESC. Way more grip on the vivibarefoot, but do notice faster fatigue. Possibly due to less ankle constriction/support, aside from differing midsole. I'm gonna need to get the Boulder summits next time. And hopefully they'll release a Boulder Grip in black as well for me to compare.

Walking around outside is a nice change from a "studio" room for youtube. No need to overthink it, what counts is real honest reviews not tainted by free goods from vendors. I recently found out about foot shaped shoes and bought a pair of Altra's, similar idea to the Lems but maybe not high quality materials. Looking forward to trying out some of this footwear. I see different models have different toeboxes widths, I should probably go with the widest but wonder if the middle ground would fit better. Shame they aren't in any stores near me, I love just trying on several to find the best fit, hard to do when you mail order. Sure you can send it back but you'll never know if another model would be better or worse unless you're able to try them all.

9:25 Barefoot shoes are amazing. Your foot was designed to walk barefoot and many of the boots/shoes we wear inhibit our foot's natural design. I don't wear barefoot shoes anymore though because they don't have any ones that mimic the look of regular shoes. Every time I would ask people would say "well you can't really make toe shoes look like regular shoes" but Adidas made a toe shoe that looks just like regular sneakers except that it's a toe shoe, but I don't like sneakers so. But I still will only run in barefoot shoes if I have them, or work around the house in them. I used to have some Vibrant Five Fingers that were made of leather that were pretty durable but the sides of the toes were made of this canvas material that would get shredded by rocks and sticks.

The higher heels in boots isn’t to increase your height. It creates an arch (usually with a leather shank in high end boots) that conforms to your natural arch. It essentially provides support especially when lifting heavy gear or rucking.

The only hiking boots that I’ve found that I can wear all day and has a wide toe box are Oboz. I have a pretty slim foot but they have still have a wide option for ones that have a wide foot. Lems are certianly another great boot choice if your boot aesthetic is more traditional and less hiking boot style. And I bet in todays manufacturing quality the Lems will be constructed better. My Keens over the last few years havent lasted as well and those Ive purchased 5 years ago.

If I did need a boot I’d get these, I wear Xero HFS shoes for everyday, Aqua X Sport for fishing, Z Trail EV sandals live in Honolulu, and Glenn for dressy situations. I have ordered all my Xero shoes in March of each year from 2021 (HFS) (Aqua & Z Trail) (Glenn). I am looking for another dress shoe and found Carets as my Glenn is more thick than my HFS and tends to give my feet some pain. I tried to go back to my Solomon Speedcross 3 and my feet hurt the instant I put them on and had to just wear Croc slides. I guess eventually I’ll have to get a more rugged boot. Xero is also located in Colorado (Boulder). I have looked into Lems and Vivobarefoot.

I don't have any experience with zero drops but if you wear toe shoes the first thing you will notice is your feet will get fatigued and start to hurt at first, because you're using a lot of muscles that you've never used before that extensively.. but was they get strengthened your feet will never hurt again.

You & I must have the same feet. I also have a pair of Lems that I LOVE. Keens, also very comfortable, I have a couple pairs. There is definitely something to say about foot-shaped shoes. Saying that it seems ridiculous that we even make shoes that aren’t shaped like feet. 😂

The one downside of waterproof boots is that IF water gets inside cuz you went through a body of water that's higher than your boot, it takes FOREVER to dry out

I’m not “in the trades” but I critique the trades 😅 haha I’m an inspector, I would say it’s light duty. Do you think it would still live up to the day to day?

How did you transition from being a web developer to being more active and not sitting down at a desk that much? What do you do now for your main income? You mentioned in a recent video that KZfaq is still a side gig and you do have a main job.

Yeah I need to find some new cool spots. The handful I used to go to have all shut down, so I’ve been to a few ranges to try and find some more convenient spots, but haven’t found anything I’d love to film at. I do plan to bring em back in some capacity though

Oh that's a bummer. Is your property big/secluded enough you could setup your own?

Technically I could - but my neighbors are close enough that they'd hate me. I may do a little suppressed shooting here and there though.
