Great recipes! I would like to try this as well. What app do you use to input your protein, carbs and all of that?
@darkkraken1
@darkkraken1 2 жыл бұрын
When talking about the sponsor Isn't gluten a matrix of protein chains? So bassically is a noodle brick made with a kind of strong bead flour. If that is the case then protein content doesn't matter because neither of the basic protein chains that make gluten are essential for your body. Saying that something has protein doesn't make it nutritious, your body needs specific aminoacids in specific proportions, so eating more "protein" by itself is no garantuee of anything. Same as with "healthy" food "high protein" is no more than a marketing lable and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
@daala6698
@daala6698 2 жыл бұрын
@@darkkraken1 Salt is good but that picky-ness about balancing amino acids at each meal has long been disproven. Lappe apologized and changed her tune years after her first book.
@darkkraken1
@darkkraken1 2 жыл бұрын
@@daala6698 Thanks for the info, i'll look it up. That still doesn't change my point though, that just like "healthy food" is a pretty vague label so it is "high protein", and as such it should be taken with some scepticism(since you don't like salt) specially when a company is trying to use it as a marketing label wich is the case given that is a paid promotion.
@darkkraken1
@darkkraken1 2 жыл бұрын
@@daala6698 And just so that everything is clear, he is promoting a "high protein" ramen brick as a sort of health food, it just so happens that gluten is a matrix of protein chains so it's stands to reason that one can suspect that it's just noodles made with bread flour instead of some sort of "diet friendly" substitute for regular ramen noodles. This is not me blaming the creator of the video since he is just doing his job, sharing his recipies and knowledge with the audience, i'm just trying to raise some reasonable quesstions about a product.

Hey Ethan, I used to work at a Jimmy Johns. For some of our sandwiches, we were supposed to "pull the bread out" on the top half of our sandwich so we could stuff more veggies, etc into the sandwich. Love this type of content, I always felt that losing weight doesn’t = eating boring food, if anything it is a way to learn more skills and find new ingredients you never heard of. I love creating recipes that are delicious and healthy while also getting to use my creativity, to me it’s not boring at all. I think people are under the impression that a lot of the “healthier” options are flavorless trash, it’s really on us to create the flavor. I was at target the other day and ran to the produce area and picked up a head of cauliflower and thought “I can’t wait to see what amazing concoction I’m going to come up with tonight for dinner”, I wound up making “steaks” and made some farro (tbh, it wouldn’t have been my first choice in this situation) and butter beans I had left over, it was a very random but special meal, I felt full in a good way.

@KZfaq Account I appreciate the feedback and really resonate with what you've said! Super funny you mentioned the “really full” feeling you enjoy, I’m in the same boat! And I always just thought that’s how you’re supposed to feel after eating! Met my girlfriend a little over 9 years ago and found out she hates that feeling, so it triggered me to ask around and turns out, it isn’t a necessity to stuff yourself until being “full”. Its okay to put the fork down before you’re uncomfortable, is something I’ve got to remind myself of more often.

I've tried 3 different iterations of Vite ramen, and I can definitely say they improve their recipe with each new release. Older versions tasted too chalky to me, but the v3 version is legit good. Not as tasty as junky ramen, but it hits the spot while still being healthy.

Made this again. This time I boiled the Naked Noods 4 min instead of 3 so they were much softer. I added some grated ginger, sauteed onions, shredded cabbage and blanched carrots (in the Nood water) plus a little more water. I like the texture of my first batch where I cooked the Noods for only 3 min but this was still very tasty. The Korean ground pepper I used is not very spicy. Looking for something hotter.

@ryanmajka885
@ryanmajka885 2 жыл бұрын
@KZfaq Account I think you're being a little disingenuous to the average intelligence. Also, things like, Rice and Beans are a complete protein. Most people are eating complete proteins in their vegetarian options without realizing it. When you eat a meat burrito from Chipotle you're getting the complete protein from the meat as well as the other things mixed into it. So long as a diet is varied and isn't eating the same thing day in, day out, and has variety in the meal itself (which is more difficult for those in poverty admittedly, or who don't have as much food available to them such as here in the US.) people generally don't need to worry about specifically looking for their complete proteins. Almost all cultural/historic food gets you a complete protein, because people have been eating it for 1000's of years and surviving, because it has what they need to survive. To give credence to your point though, I used to work with a girl that went vegetarian and only ate cheese quesadillas and didn't have the knowledge of needing other stuff in her diet. She then had to switch back to a meat-centric diet because she was literally fainting while on the job. I would say that she was an outlier compared to the public, but it does happen.

THANK YOU for the knowledge about Naked Noods! I love Ramen, and have read many packages and, until now, have seen that ramen is very high in sodium. Great video. As a foodie who has struggled with weight I really appreciate how you blend healthy cooking into your videos. I hope you do a video on TVP/TSP soon. TVP macros and it's dry storage ability both fit your pantry/cooking style. In addition to being able to make many recipes vegetarian, it's a very affordable ingredient. $25/5 lbs when prepared turns into 30+ lbs, so less than $1.00/lb. High in fiber, almost 0 sodium and it can be like 97/3 or 80/20 ground meat depend on how much fat you add. Get the caramel color kind if you care about it looking like meat when cooked.

Great video. I’ve been meaning to try that brand of ramen. This is my excuse! For the sandwich, I’d cook down some onion using water to add some unctuousness. I grow the onions in my garden, so one way I prep them for the winter is to cook them down and freeze them in ice cube trays. Then I put them in a bag and add them to my meals as needed. It really helps overcome some of that body I sometimes miss. Let’s be honest, I’d probably add it to the noodles as well. But not the yogurt! ;)

That's cause carbs raise your insulin making it crash in 2 hours or so and making you hungry again. Protein and high saturated fat foods are satiating and very healthy for the body. Calling any meal "healthy" like the creator of this video did when the majority of the dish is noodles (mainly carbs) is ridiculous to say the least.

@ilikecommenting6849 2 жыл бұрын
@@laurynassuliauskas167 There is nothing inherently unhealthy about carbs. For most people (which are not athletes), it's actually the most important macro if done right. If you're an athlete, you're gonna need to hit your protein needs first and maximise carb intake, leaving 10-20% of daily caloric intake for fat. Carbs are the best energy source, store water overall and increase muscle size by helping them retain more water = more strength. It's a shame carbs get such a bad rap nowadays. Also, if you want to maximise the value of your protein, your meal should consist for the majority of something else than protein. The body uses calorie for its energy needs first. After that, if it had the luxury, it will allocate to muscle building needs. If you eat 300 calories of protein, most will just be used for energy needs instead of muscle building

Unless you're trying to increase body fat% (like if you're sub 10% BF or trying to increase body mass for power lifting) there's really no reason to "bulk" to put on muscle. It takes ~2800 calories to create 1 lb of muscle; if you want to put on 5 pounds of muscle this year you'll need ~14000 calories which is only ~40 calories a day; even if you were on PEDs or expecting noobie gains, 10lbs of muscle would require 100 calories a day. 50-100 calories is almost impossible to accurately track (you're probably eating +/- 150 calories of what you're tracking) , so you can just eat at maintenance calories and that would suffice for 5-10lbs of muscle in a year. There really isn't a realistic amount of muscle you could put on in a year that would require 200+ extra calories a day.
