The prefab home industry has been very excited to watch lately as companies unveil new options and designs in an attempt to gain market share. It's easy to get wrapped up in the excitement of the latest companies entering the space but we can't forget about those who been around the block. One such company with over a decade of experience building prefab modular homes is called Compact Living and their Cliff House plan is sure to turn heads with it's unique exterior. I've seen a lot exteriors from a lot of different companies but as if you're looking for something that stands out I think this one takes the cake. In this video I look into the company who builds it, the cliff house and another one of their models then finally try to locate the pricing. Watch and learn more about this cool prefab home and the company who built it.

The Cliff House is really nice but I wonder about the longevity of the architectural elements. That being said, it’s great to see these types of elements make their way into the prefab world. I like how you covered their production process - thanks for sharing!

The Cliff House is taken right off the page from a Frank Lloyd Wright Design. It's very cool. The FLW house had "roll up walls" that you could, well, roll up on nice evenings and get the breeze through the house. (Sidenote... I grew up in a house w only one bathroom, three bedrooms and four people. It's doable.

I have contacted the company in Estonia last week and asked for the price of the Cliff House. I was shocked when they told me that the shipping costs from Estonia to Spain, where I want to build my house, are between 40‘000 and 50‘000 Euros. It will be great if you can mention the shipping costs in your videos, because it might be a big chunk. And also can you say something about buying a prefab house from a 110 Volt Country to a 220 Volt Country or the otherway arround. How can this problem get solved. Thank you very much

I like the idea behind the Teo. To be able to link units to fit buyer's needs and the possibility of expanding later is a great one. A young couple will not have to find a new dwelling when a child or two enters the picture. Then as time progresses, an older couple could remove extra units instead of finding a smaller residence after the children move out. Downsizing made easy, sweet.

Terry, their business model is similar to the RV industry, which we North Americans are OK with. The RV company 'just' finishes out the 'box'. Very interesting video! The Cliff House looks like it could easily slot into many existing mid-century style neighborhoods, simply due to the trusses acting as porch posts. The concept for the Teo is what I've been wanting to see -- truly add-on modules so a house can expand with its owner(s). If you have a chance to find out more about this manufacturer, I wonder what the sloping trusses for the Cliff actually do/how they work since they run perpendicular to the modules. Also, how customizable is the Cliff? I would rather have a small bedroom made into a minimal bathroom and the huge bathroom turned into a bedroom. That is more in line with starter homes in my town. Just wondering.

The Cliff house is cool. Unfortunately, living in the USA, it's not a viable option if you need to ship here. It would cost as much or more than building a home (depending on what state you live in). But it's nice to see how many options world wide are available. I want to live off grid as much as possible, so I may need to look for other options as many of these pre-fab homes are smart homes which would not be compatible w/living off grid. Appreciate all the work & research you do into the pre-fab/manufactured home world.

An issue that I never see mentioned about prefab or modular homes is meeting state and local building codes. Possibly you mentioned the subject, but I have not seen it. I'm having a modular / prefab home built in Los Angeles and it must pass State and local building codes. Some inspections are done in the factory. Others are done at the building site. I'm not sure how our inspectors would make it to Estonia.

I love the look of cliff house but I would prefer if the exterior skeleton were made of steel and more use was made of these supports. Up close they look like decoration. I also live in a hurricane prone area with lots of rain and termites and exposed exterior wood can be a deal breaker. The amount of glass, while attractive can also be a negative in hot climates. I think what I like best is the shape. i would like to see a version that alternated walls on the exterior and interior of the supports sort of like an accordion. Also the interior bead board walls are out of keeping with the design. When I see something this modern I want to see equally unique furnishing ideas. It could be outfitted with things like Murphy beds that pull down from the walls and flip down counters that make use of the back leaning uprights to preserve interior space..

In your videos buddy, you really should include the shipping charges into your overall costs. Or at least explain that one could expect to spend another half of the price of the home will be shipping. Its common for these homes to cost 40-50K dollars especially if shipping to another country. 12-30 from coast to coast in the USA.

The exterior of the Cliff House is interesting and a maybe in my thinking. The interior like so many smaller "footprint" homes does not work and this is before a family brings in all the many things of everyday life. I bet if you were to go back to these homes 6mos or a year into set up/move in they will look cluttered and messy. Builders need to be more realist when designing these homes. Inventive storage spaces need to be paramount when designing these homes. If not, the homes must look over-run with stuff and any beauty of the design is lost.

When you invest you are buying a day that don’t have to work that’s truth.

So...you put it on a truck in Tallinn, Estonia, and haul it down to the port. Then you put it on a container ship and take it across the Atlantic. Then you take it off the boat and put it on another truck and ship it 1, 2 or 3K miles to the client's site, arrange for a crane to hoist it on to a foundation...and the carbon footprint is what?

Carbon footprint is a scam. It's a way to tax you in the future. The earth is doing fine the majority of scientists agree about that. We are carbon based life forms. Anti carbon is anti human. We just need to stop deforestation. Plant more trees. Lots more. They take carbon and produce oxygen. Don't be taken in by this scam.
