Your favorite online geography series continues and we look to continue the winning streak with two fresh zingers: A young man next to a large concrete pole on a barren hill, and two cool dudes posing outside of their orange mustang in what looks to be an arid, mountainous region of North America.
For those new to the channel, Geo Detective is a series in which I (GeoWizard) attempt to pinpoint the exact location of a photo, be it a fan or something different, using my skills on google earth, google maps and my questionable googling skills. So far I've only failed once, but there's time yet...
Don't forget to subscribe: / @geowizard
..and don't forget to give the video a quick like if you enjoyed! Cheers :)

maybe best content for this genre, but there are other genres, so if you like watching an Englishman almost single handedly rebuilding a 100 year old French chateau that burnt down 40 years ago, (with really good cinematography) then you could watch '@EscapeToRuralFrance', and you might think that's the best content, or if you like to watch an Irish man renovate an old French Town House, then '@DublinVanLife' might be more your thing, or if you like watching a Scottish man learn new skills, then try '@MikeBoyd'. clearly people are different and like different things. (building a 5 acre bass pond in Alabama - '@BamaBass', review of every Aston Villa football game '@VillaOnTour', one man and two collies running a marathon every single morning for over a year - '@MyCrazyCollies', etc, etc)

That's funny, cos just two days ago me and a couple of people had a chat under one of Zigzag's videos that Tasmania could be a cool spot for a straight line mission. We were talking about what SLM Zigzag could do. And here you mention the same thing. I even suggested that Hobart to Devonport might be doable, though it's 200km.

I am honored to say I was one of those people, and Tom should def think for a straight line mission in Australia. I think Cape York Peninsula makes more sense since it's mostly flat but I don't know about the fauna there.
@LucasChamberlain
@LucasChamberlain 4 ай бұрын
You would be surprised at how tricky a straight line mission in Tasmania would be. So much of the scrub is impenetrable. There's a plant that's actually called 'Horizontal' which slows you right down, and can result in you hopping from branch to branch a few metres in the air. There's also dense alpine scrub in some areas - species like wiry baeura, scoparia, tea tree, hakea, cutting grass, can make for an extremely unpleasant time. You would get some nice open areas though, so maybe it's doable haha.If you went up the midlands somehow, that would be possible. But I would be steering clear of the southwest and much of the World Heritage Area.

There's also dense alpine scrub in some areas - species like wiry baeura, scoparia, tea tree, hakea, cutting grass, can make for an extremely unpleasant time. I've done plenty of off track bashing in Tassie, and it's pretty draining. You would get some nice open areas though, so maybe it's doable haha. If you went up the midlands somehow, that would be possible. But you get lots of private covenant and farmland there. I grew up in Boulder City, NV and I instantly recognized that picture's location and I was frustrated watching you look at other lakes before finishing Lake Mead, lol. BTW, the raised dot centerline and lane dividers that you called "cats eyes" are called Bott's Dots, and they are only used in snow-free areas of Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Georgia, Washington, and Texas (a snow plow will rip them off the road). There are a few states that use them during summer road construction, and California is rapidly replacing to have painted lane divider lines plus Bott's Dots on top of the painted lines, so Arizona was never an option and if the picture was recent, neither was California. If you knew that fact, nor was even bothering to check Lake Tahoe. Hope that trivia fact helps sometime in a future video.

Lake Mead, yup I instantly called that. I do this myself sometimes for fun.... never thought it would be this popular. I feel I'm getting pretty good now and a lot of these are too easy, tho I have been training by watching all your videos. LittleHampton one I got instantly too, it's hard to explain but it seems to be subconscious photogenic memory kicking in. More GEO D Chief please

Tom you should look at some images of Lake Tahoe. Its one of the most beautiful places ive ever seen. Massive mountains and ski resorts surrounding a crystal clear lake.

Proud to say I thought it was Tasmania from the get go. Those pushes are really common on the southern end of Australia

Grew up going to Lake Mead several times every summer. Seeing it here was a trip.
