We have been waiting for nearly half a year for the water levels to drop low enough to return to this location! We finally got our chance to get back here with the canoe and do some exploring for Pleistocene age fossils and the occasional Eocene age shark tooth. This was a very enjoyable adventure, as they always are. We found fossils from mastodons, giant ground sloths, tapirs, alligators, camels and a lot more. The carnivores eluded us on this trip, but that just means we'll have to return here again on the next opportunity to find what we missed this time around.

14:39 great information! I have tons of conch shells from those grey clay layers of earth! I’ve gotten my little nephew into fossil hunting just by taking him on fossil hunts along the roadside ditches! It’s so cool to see the excitement kids get from finding something so old they can’t even comprehend yet, but they know it’s special

Nice fossil finding trip. I live in Northern Kentucky and any place the dirt has been removed or washed away you can find Brachiopods and all kinds of other fossils laying everywhere. There’s a place near Maysville where you find Trilobites larger than your hand. It’s crazy. The whole state is on limestone which is responsible for the bluegrass in the greater Lexington area where racehorses are bred and the water that is used for the bourbon industry. I noticed you went to Michigan and found Petiskeys. I’ve been there too. Be safe and keep posting for us fossil nerds. 👍☮️🌞🌟🦴❤️

Like how you backed up after the quick splash you made on the edge of the limestone. There are gators out there but usually avoid people. But a splash like that on the edge of deeper murky water is a signal that food may be struggling. I know you know that. Seemed like that crossed your mind as you did it.
