We Found LOADS of Shark Teeth and Whale Fossils in the FOREST!? (10,000,000 Year Old Ocean Floor)

This was another excellent fossil hunting trip to one of our favorite little creeks! We managed to score some incredible shark teeth, including megalodon teeth, rare Miocene aged terrestrial mammals like gomphotheres (elephant-like animals), bone-crushing dogs, three-toed horses and more! We also saw all sorts of cool mushrooms, as we normally do in locations such as this.
This particular location was the ocean floor for millions of years prior to becoming what is now the FL peninsula. Because of this, the sediment under the forest we're walking through in the video is loaded with Miocene aged fossils and the small creek cuts through that sediment. If you could dig a hole deep enough anywhere in that forest, you could potentially find the same types of fossils.

I used to live just outside Nashville in Bellevue where there were tons of fossils by the highway. People used to honk and harass me but I loved it. I’d much rather go in the woods in creeks. But there’s really nothing like it. The stars and planets and fossils and music.

So love watching you guys. I'm blessed to live in a 7 acre Florida forest near the Suwanee River. Periodically the creek bed fills with serious running water, so I really need to explore my place further. Have found echinoids and a couple of shark teeth on my dirt road, so I'm sure there's more here. Each of your videos is not only fun, but a learning experience.

When I was a kid, my grandparents lived in Bath, NC. Right across the Pamlico River was Texas Gulf Phosphate Mine ( now PCS Phosphate) at Aurora, where they have found all kinds of fossils from various dinosaurs to giant Meg teeth. A lot of the local properties will use their tailings for driveways and walkways. We would go and spend hours at some of the public properties and find sharks teeth, small meg teeth, different vertebrae, fossilized clam and urchin. It was always a favorite pastime of mine.
