I once saw a guy with an electric violin and speakers playing outside the store my mom and I were going into. I looked a bit closer and he didn’t move his fingers while the music sounded like different eighth notes were happening. The worst part is that my mom though it was so sweet to see a good player in our small town and gave money. I’ve been playing for 7 years.

I don’t blame the kid in the first fake buskers. His mom was most definitely the one who planned the performance, she’s the one holding a sign too. She probably was just trying to profit from this kids violin lessons, like: "I payed for the violin lessons, so I need to make profit!" She probably bribed him to do it, sayings things like: "But we are going to make money, I’ll buy you something with it!" And if she didn’t have to bribe him to do it, you know who he was raised by. And if you say that they need money, she can afford giving her son violin lessons, and speakers. Not to mention their clothes, makeup, and so much more. Side note: They probably used that audio, since there was a beat. So there would be an excuse to have a speaker there. The kid should be defended, but people are defending him for the wrong reasons. The mom is completely at fault here though.

The people defending that violin kid scamming scares me, especially as a (visual) artist, art is stolen so much daily and there's never been a solution to it. And if the internet is teaching younger generations that stealing someone's work is ok, I can't even imagine the amount of art theft there'll be in the future
@xtwinni
@xtwinni 2 жыл бұрын
I mean, I'm gonna defend the kid. He's a child, a minor. There's clearly an adult with him, that person is the one where all the anger should be directed at. And I'm sorry, but the copyright music is the least of the problems here. The main question people should be wondering is why the hell is this adult using a child to busk on the streets. It's like exploitation basically, and is similar to the kind of human trafficking that often happens in first world countries. This isn't about stealing work, this is about why the fuck is an adult doing that with a kid, why can't that adult provide for the kid on their own, etc etc. These are the concerns that run through my mind when I see that vid, the music is like last priority.
@starrynights5855
@starrynights5855 2 жыл бұрын
@@xtwinni true that is a good point, I'm not saying it's the kid's fault, because they most likely don't know better, and it's true that the adult is at fault, because they clearly seem like a guardian / or have some kind of authoritative power and influence which should not have been used to gain attention or for their own profit. And yea you're right, manipulation and exploitation are bigger problems than art theft, however, I'm saying from my point of view as being a visual artist for years and have been on the internet, that I've seen art theft daily so it comes to my mind more often than probably some one who is like an engineer or something. Again I'm not saying it's the kid's fault, but the adult who is teaching these ideals and the people in the tik tok comments saying that it's ok, cause not only does this encourge art theft but the whole manipulation and exploition issues as people will most likely see it as a way to get some money without consequence or cost, and everyone knows that a lot people will practically do anything for money.

Well, maybe that kid himself agreed to such things, you can't know for sure. Anyway he is in that same age when you actually start to use your own brains. @grahamd.8713
@grahamd.8713 2 жыл бұрын
You're working yourself up over nothing, mate. All this undue recognition these fake musicians are receiving really isn't worth that much. In some cases these aren't even their tiktok vids to monetize. And those that do monetize them, well... you can pretty easily google how much that amount of likes/subscribers is worth, and it's not exactly a windfall. And as buskers, I doubt if they're pulling in more than a 50$ a day with their routines. And it's not sustainable. You can't keep up that same act in the same spot all day every day and make a fortune. They'll eventually get chased out of that parking lot by a security guard and have to hump their way to some other location, set up, and do it all again. Outside in the heat, with bugs, and annoying people and cars. Are you really jealous of all that? If so, you can always fire up TikTok yourself... real musicians are also permitted to use it. Get yourself out there and rake up those sweet sweet likes if it's so easy. As a real musician you can rest easy that you'll not be stealing anything or scamming anyone. But ain't nobody getting rich here with any of this stuff. They're scrapping by with their little show, and some people throw them some likes/looks and forget about them. After one or two videos they never click on them again. It's just fodder. It's not even the same audience who would ever watch real musicians video (because it's obviously fake), so it's not as though they're really poaching the looks from real musicians. They're scrapping up likes/coins from a totally different group of people... people who want a story and performance. It's not sustainable, lucrative or scalable, because as soon as anyone started making more than a few dollars doing it, and tried to take their act off the curb, they would get sued/fired/etc. What are they gunna do, sell out Carnegie Hall? Give a TED talk? Get invited to meet the president? No. This is just scavenging, and can never evolve to more than that. Don't let it bother you. As a real musician this presents no threat to you. The time you spend being concerned or bothered about it is the probably the only way in which it actually impacts your life/career.

The fake buskers are like a cancer. My had an ice cream shop & nearly every weekend fake violinists would show up & do the same thing. Your average Joe & Sally don't know. They think they're actually playing & fork over money. SMH. I knew they were fake cause i put in my 40 hours of practice watching TwoSet! Lol.

What I dont understand is: violins are not cheap instruments. So if those fake players rly were desperate for money, why the heck did they get a violin if not for the sole purpose of scamming people? Sell the violin instead then. I dont know these people but I always get the impression that violin scams are from people who are not really in a situation of deseperation and poverty at all.

This absolutely bothers me. People act like it’s no big deal, but the MOMENT these people scam others for money during street performances, it plants a seed of mistrust in the audience. Now whenever real talented street musicians go out to play, their integrity is going to be questioned and it hurts them; PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY RELY ON THIS FOR INCOME. It’s not okay, your damaging the community as well as the musical integrity.

5:59 I’ve seen something like this out in public before. We had just finished eating at a restaurant, and we could hear someone playing from a distance, so we drove over to check it out. There was a girl playing on a corner just like that, with an electric violin and someone holding a sigh for her. She was super talented, and she was accepting tips so we drove over to give her one. But as the driver was complimenting her and handing over the money to the guy that was holding the sign, I looked at her hand and saw that, while there was vibrato in the song, her hand was not moving. The more I looked at her the more I could tell she wasn’t playing. I didn’t say anything about it until we were driving away, though. We got a good laugh out of it afterwards, but it’s honestly sad to see people using music to scam others.

On the topic of teaching kids values and money, back when I was a boy, cheerleaders and school sports teams would do car wash and stuff to raise money for equipment. The other day, I was driving to work and these adults had their kids just running up to cars at the intersection begging for money. I was pretty shocked that these parents were like "you kids are going nowhere, so you may as well practice begging now so you'll be better when you're living on the streets in another couple if years"

I'm REALLY disturbed and honestly, frightened, that even one person would not only use their child in order to steal (because that's what it is), but how many more people actually DEFEND that kind of immoral behavior! Just a few years ago, this would've caused widespread outrage and the parents roundly condemned for doing something so wrong. Now? Our world has adopted a deeply concerning "anything goes" mentality. So many are walking around with zero moral standard to use to look at themselves and others to know what's right or wrong. Teaching a child to lie and steal should be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, when people lose sight of the moral law, there's no basis for right or wrong at all.

The funny thing about the guitar "tutorials" is that when they number the strings, they number them in reverse! When you hold your guitar, the string closest to you is the sixth string, where the string farthest from you closest to the ground is the first string, with the other strings in-between following.

Not sure about other countries, but in the USA the kid who was fake busking is likely a crime. It could be considered fraud. Also, if his mother is using him for profit that is a type of exploitation. If she didn't go to jail she would likely at the very least lose custody of her kid(s).
