I think this mode would be fantastic if it had more biomes, with factions designed around operating in them. Then there would be more challenge in either designing vehicles to work in those environments, or making a single vehicle all-terrain. So you might make your tank that can easily dominate the desert, gliding over sand dunes and taking things out from a distance, but that's not going to work as efficiently in a mountain range, where sight lines are frequently obstructed and maneuverability is crucial to navigating tight canyons. Stuff like swamps, forests, rivers, and lakes would all be nice touches.

One thing you can do with frag shells is set a time fuse to detonate it just before the round gets to the targt, and set it to explode in a cone, basically turning it into a shotgun launcher. Also a good use for prox fuses!

You really have made a name for yourself when the game twitter account mentions you in specific.

One of the things I love about FtD, is simply the fact that they take user slang and shorthand, and use it themselves. This video showed at least one reference, the one about "Tetris", when it comes to precisely placing components to make things work better (Primarily Adv Cannons)

You might like pure kinetic/thump for the low gauge railgun. You can also give it a CIWS controller so that it will shoot at incoming missiles/cram before targeting enemies.

I love the shot gun idea, it's really cool seeing the load of shells all fly out at once, keep up the good work!

A quick suggestion would be something along the lines of Mortal engines, like a massive supertank that can drag smaller crafts into its core and either capture them or shred them to itsy bitsy little peices

I would love a campaign mode where you start with just the basic things and resources, and each enemy have a unique thing to it that, when you kill it, you can use yourself. Like, you start only with the most basic cram cannon, and when you kill an enemy with a laser and salvage it, you can use it too

hey lathrix, if you need an easy way to soundproof your setup heres a handy tip: grab one of those big comforter things and literally just put if over you and your setup while you record, it shouldnt work but it does, it can pretty much soundproof your entire setup for a cheap budget!

One of the most fun weapons I've built was a massive APHE railgun, with 8m shells, with no gunpowder or railgun casings at all. It fires in bursts with super high fire rates, followed by a long reload time - it just cores ships out, overwhelming laser defence etc. with brute force. A single burst can go pretty much all the way through most ships. I know you can't build a full scale one of those here, but something along those lines is always beautiful - particularly as a main weapon. I'd keep the shotgun for AA, with super burst for the main gun, with much larger shells (potentially with APHE or similar). I've seen that gun gut an entire Steel Striders ship, lengthways in one burst.

hey lath, loving this series. i am that guy who has been recommending silly rail burst fire turrets several times over the years and im so glad you have finally incorporated one such weapon in your build. ive been having loads of fun playing an ashes adventure campaign in coop building a fortress on wheels with my favorite weapons being a tiny "bolt on" emp pacs against small flyers (en masse) as well as a 11x11 200mm railgun with a whopping 384 1m loaders (i like to call those "splurge guns") which fires all of its shells in a ridiculous all destroying hesh burst, maybe something to look into once your craft gets bigger. brrrt incarnate.

15:30 Lathrix your designs aren't basic! I would describe them more as...raw. not a lot of bells and whistles but plenty of teeth and armor. Also your ships all look super not evil and I think that's fun!

Lath, burst railguns are indeed quite fun! Their main issue comes with the velocity vs. recoil issue since they can be rather... Inefficient. I recommend you try out 333mm and 500mm×1m HESH or reqlly any warhead. Making holes right through enemies is funny.

idea for the missiles: have the regular missile model, but put a mannequin on it that looks like it's riding the missile. Maybe have it grabbing a set of fins to look like it's steering the missile at its target

Manaquin missiles open up so many possibilities. Giant flaming skulls, rocket punches, boots to the head, long range slaps. If you can figure out a way to rig up a full manaquin then you could have tactical hugs. ... Could the new anime avatars work for ballistic police girls and (literal) rocket troopers? Yes, that missile deco video might be a necessity. Also, I find my Chrome Hounds nostalgia flaring up again. How about having some highspeed piles or plasma blades for your final design? Needing to get right up in your enemy's face should be a sufficient handicap, right? If nothing else, the black blades on that one craft looked AMAZING.

The fact that you can deco missiles now opens up a whole WORLD of possibilities. Like that Terraria eyeball thing that's currently on the workshop. :D Also speaking as a noted CRAM-gunner: go with more railgun. They're just way more versatile than CRAMs, sorry to say.

For the new design, I'd personally love to see a tank shaped like an invert trike. That is, two tracks at the front, where most of the mass is, and a single wide track at the back providing the movement. You can have a large, burst rail turret front and centre, with flak turrets on (forward) track sponsons

I can imagine if the developers add a "space" campaign Lathrix building a land vehicle/ship/submarine to spite them it would be interesting if they did it by making a map that has small planets of polygons in the "space" environment that happens when you go too high

Maybe make the final design a huge size guarantee cannon on a armored super vehicle and call it "The Big Berta" so only 1 weapon and rest is defenses

Honestly as far as weapons should go lathrix your main guns should be a shotgun so enemy’s guns can be knocked out faster. And the burst should be the secondary weapon so after the enemy can’t shoot you can carve into the core.

I do love cram but the shotgun fragment railgun is also quite lovely in making large holes in things

Just a head's up on the frag gun, you can use a breadboard to automatically tune the timed fuses based on whether the enemy is heading towards or away from you in order to make them more effective and especially vs fast things. The maths is fairly easy so long as you know how fast the shells are and can do trig to tell how far away the enemy is, and can make them feel so much more effective
