Looking forward to your Nikon Z9 video, I know it may be a while before you get your hands on one but I find your videos very genuine since you have experience with so many camera systems.

My issues with most of the Z lenses is that they don't exist or if they do, they are way out of the price range. For instance, the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 is on Sony with no confirmation for Z mount as of now. But assuming that Nikon will have one coming up that matches the same focal length and f stop, it will most likely be a few grand. Then wait another year or so for the mount to unlock for Sigma to make the same lens. Ain't no body got time for that.

I am using the Megadap ETZ11 with the Nikon Z 7 II and the Sony 200-600 and it works astonishingly well, but as you mentioned it can‘t be compared with the performance at my Alpha 1. It works and sometimes it is handy to use the Sony Glass on my Nikon

I have fairly extensive collections of Canon film and digital, Nikon film and digital, Fujifilm, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus digital systems. I just keep them separate. I use them depending on the strengths of each and what I want to do that day. Adapting to me is putting a Voigtlander lens on a Nikon film or digital camera. I like Nikon pop, Canon's warm color, Fujifilm's film simulations, Panasonic and Olympus weight and size, Sony's AF/tracking, and the film cameras just because I like to shoot film and get the color or B&W from the choice of film. I also have a pretty complete Bessa RF camera/system that brings a unique way to focus and frame unlike my slr's. I also dabble in medium format with a pretty complete Mamiya 645 system just to play around with a different format. Never a dull moment! The kids can make a little money when I die from the sale of all my equipment. I doubt they will keep any of it since I never see them take a picture except from their cell phone.

i just ordered a nikon z8. I’m a sony shooter and plan only to get the tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 native lens and adapt the 85 1.2 and wide angle lenses from sony with this adapter. hope it works ❤️

When I got back into photography with Sony bodies, way back in 2014-2015, there were a lot of gaps in the Sony lineup of lenses, especially for APS-C. Adapting lenses was a must. This is the origin of Sony users rep that they'll put any lens on their camera. That problem is pretty much solved now, but many of the Sony lenses are expensive, so adapting can help there still.

I use Canon EF lenses on my Nikon Z and Fujifilm cameras with Fringer Adaptors. Excellent results.

I am using the adapter with Sigma 105mm macro DG DN (E mount), and I have to say otherwise… the autofocus barely works. The focus limiter on the lens body, which is very common on macro lenses, doesn’t work at all with this adapter on Nikon body. Glad it’s working well for other lenses :)

Good review! I was just wondering if you had a chance to compare the megadap adapter with the Techart one? I use the Techart adapter to adapt the super light Tamron 28-70 Sony lens with the Nikon since my friend owns it. PS - Tamron needs to start lenses for the Nikon Z system

isnt the flang longer on the nikon F-body dus making it inmposiible to focus to infinity on a sony/minolta lenes??

I am thinking of using the Megadap ETZ11 for attaching a Sony 16-35 f/2.8 on a Nikon Z6ii. I will use it for landscape photography and astrophotography. So no high speed performance really needed. Will this combo work well? What about aquiring autofocos with single point focus at the edge of the frame (or at least out of center, which happens quite often...). And what about manual focusing? Are there any problems? The Techart seems to have an issue with that and even camera set to manual focus is autofocses randomly. Not good for timelapse and astrophotography... Thank for any comments :-)

Appreciate another thoughtful review. This seems really intriguing especially for the better time lapse features of the Nikon bodies over current Sony bodies. Hoping to see a Z6ii comparison with the a7iv, especially for astrophotography. I’ve preordered the a7iv, but guessing it will be a limited release and the Z6ii is considerably cheaper and better set for time lapse. Thank you again for the review. Do you know how difficult is it to update its firmware?

@@christoph886 Much simpler than the other adapter. Thank you for that information. Still haven’t decided on the Z6ii vs a7iv, but it does have some compelling features and I’m always impressed by Nikon colors for landscape photography.

thanks thanks thanks. I am a sports photographer and I am Nikon. Lately I've started to be drawn to Tamron's new 35-150 f2-2.8 lens, but it's only made for Sony. I was wondering if it would be good to adapt it ... you answered my question ... I will wait 🤪

I can find something good to say about any camera system. My problem is that I am so heavily invested in Nikon I can't justify getting into another camera system. I do use third party lenses such as Tamron and Sigma which offer some nice options that work well with my F and Z mount bodies thanks to the FTZ adapter. My big question now is whether or not its worth it to buy the new FTZ adapter.

The FTZ adapter with F mount lenses is a great option! I did pre-order the FTZ II and I'll certainly share what I think in a video. I'm not sure I'd be purchasing it if I didn't also pre-order the Z9 though. We'll see if there are benefits to it beyond speed.

@@LeighAndRaymond The announcement seemed to indicate the FTZ II fully worked with the AF-D lenses. I’m not sure if I was just reading what I wanted into it, but if the FTZ II can actually focus those lenses I’d be very interested.

@@CurtisThomp The new FTZ II is technically the same like the FTZ only it has no tripod mount. This you can read at Nikon ... The other rumor was a wishful desire... As an engineer, an extra small Focus engine in that new FTZ II-mount that would move the focus is not possible! You need more space for that!!!!

I would get this if I was going to buy the Sony FE 14mm 1.8 GM lens as the fastest 14mm Z has is 2.8 and that is on a zoom lens.

Another option for wide apertures is to use the FTZ adapter and an F mount lens. I recently purchased a Sigma 20mm f/1.4 to use with my Z7 (and other cameras). I detailed the project here... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b9-GgL10mKmaZGw.html :)

I use Sony body’s a7ii and a7iii with canon FD and a range of other branded m42 lenses ranging from 1950-1980! No AF but focus aids in camera help a lot.

Wanted to use Sony 28-200 f2.8 2.8 zoom lens no other have it. To Nikon DLSR CAMERA. May hve f4 but thinking 2.8 it's better.

the flange distance of L mount is 20mm, while the sony E mount is 18mm, sadly this can’t be achieved😮‍💨

I bought a used Canon EF-mount Tamron 150-600mm G1 to be used on my A7ii with 3 different AF adapters I have. Autofocus barely works. It's a hit and miss. So, I ended up buying a Canon 77D, which works great with this lens.

I really don't applause the idea of using anything 3rd party for fast action photography. I mean, kudos to people trying a 200-600 on another mount, I respect your determination. But I would never trust that to work. My take with these adapters is to have a temporary solution to systems lacking lenses. Like I started shooting with Sony, felt in love with their primes, 14GM, 24GM, 35GM, 135GM. They're all extremely solid lens. Small and compact, yet very fast and resolving. The CaNikon are still slowly introducing more lens but they really lack these. I wouldn't consider any trip carrying a huge 1.2 lens on top of zooms. It felt ridiculous. A relatively light and compact fast 1.4 primes is all most people would need given the current size and cost of 1.2s. I like the idea of having 2 bodies with two different perspective while I'm shooting. Have a 35mm or anything wider on one, and a tele on another body so I waste no time changing lenses. Nikon doesn't have anything longer than a relatively old 105 1.4 that probably needs a z mount revamp which could be a fantastic lens so I wouldn't want to spend on the F mo unt now and have to deal with unloading it to someone else down the road. So adapting my E mount primes becomes a much appreciated solution. My ETZ 21 order is currently being processed, let's see if they provides any answer to this problem. As far as the old ETZ 11 I found it was rather not helping with my situation. YMMV

Definitivamente..No sirve...no han podido invertar un adaptador perfecto.en ninguno combinacion...y no creo que la gente quiere estar jugando ha gastarse $250dollars solo para hacer pruebas.
