Saying Force Alchemy is always evil is hardly true, I know this for a simple fact: The Nightsisters exist. They're commonly accepted as Dark Siders, but are capable of healing abilities by making a concoction known as The Waters of Life. Let's be real here, they have alchemy on their side too, and said water was not a negative force. It seems more like a normal Force skill that hinged a little more on the Dark Side, is all.

I am reminded of the line spoken by Dr. Malcolm in Jurassic park. "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could. That they didn't stop to think if they should." Another way to look at it is in the "Nuclear Genie" once it was released from its bottle. Yes Nuclear power in the right hands can power vast cities for decades. But it also can wipe those cities from the map. Simple use of Force Alchemy was a good thing. But the Sith used it to its full extent to play god.

The way they describe Anakin's conception here sort of reminds me of one of the versions of Merlin's origins. He was an intended antichrist via the impregnation of a woman by an incubus. But upon his birth, he was baptized, and was graced with the light of God. So Merlin had his supernatural powers from his demon heritage, and his gift of foresight from God...at least according to THIS version of his story.

In force healing (including a great example in the vong war) jedi healers sometimes imagine themselves on a microscopic level, moving poison out of cells and closing wounds. If you can operate on that scale for healing, however, you can also cause changes at the genetic level. Alchemy, therefore, would be a dark offshoot of advanced force healing. Manipulating natural processes just in a different way.

It’s telepathy but at the greatest level. Changing things around at the microscope level. If the force did exist we wouldn’t know why but how it would work. Like most other forces in our universe. In a way force healing was sort of alchemy as well as it influenced the living things in a certain way (duh by healing) - albeit in more "constructive way" albeit the principle is the same as the one to sith alchemy (to change the state of something to something else) - what was different was just the intent and the aplication.
@danielbeck2739
@danielbeck2739 Жыл бұрын
I think this one of those things that the Jedi wanted to outright ban out of fear. Alchemy is just another version of force imbuement. In fact, I think there is a light version of alchemy. While sith focus on mutating and corrupting life what if there was a way to subside the corruption or restore a semblance of natural order. To give an example, say there is an egg of a creature that was tainted by sith alchemy. What if something could be done to maybe not undo the mutations but lessen the effects. Give a form of natural order so that when it hatched it wasn't insane and easier for jedi to bond with it and help it. Another example would be a healing salve, something that is used to help boost and accelerate the healing process by infusing the force with the natural ingredients used to make it. This wouldn't mutate the induvial but allow the force to interact with the recipient more directly and aid them in recovery. This form would definitely be in line with the jedi and it's leaning to the light side for the preservation of life. All of this would have to be determined by the wielder and what they wish to do. If it's to alter someone and/or something living fundamentally it's a taboo, if it's to aid and help those through a more natural means would coincide with the light and wouldn't be considered evil as you're only accelerating the process and giving a small boost. Not permanently altering them.

Always thought that the Magic, as well as Alchemy and Scientific aspects of the Force hasn't been explored enough. We need more Nerdy Jedi and Sith who just wanna get super deep into the Force and Midichlorians 😅 Would be cool if someone got a Force Nexus, and managed to channel its essence into a large, floating Orb or something. A moving, Force imbued Generator of sorts Like a mini Dyson-Sphere of sorts, but with a Force Nexus inside of it, not a Star. Or, a Star that has lots of Kyber Crystal's in its Core that can be siphoned for even greater and mystical energy than a typical Star.

What's eerie? The High Republic's main horror, The Nameless, seem to be a creation linked to Dark Side/Sith alchemy. I'm very intrigued to see just what this supposed Paradise planet is, where these and many other creations seem to come from. My guess is: This planet (Planet X, perhaps?) may be a kind of nexus of otherworldly powers in The Force and other physical, psychic, ethereal energies and reverberations within the galaxy.

One of my favorite things about the sith and darkside; the ability to create monsters such as sith hounds which can be the most loyal companion you'll ever have(or project deathwing), lightsaber resistant swords, armor or items imbued with esoteric effects. And not to mention the actual "magic" used by sith sorcerers and the nightsisters rituals. And if it truly were as horrendous as the jedi view it the force itself would reject it or just not allow it, after all in a way its sentient and akin to fate. Still find it funny how rewriting life is more horrendous than completely draining the life out of an organism(people or planets) to fuel one's own life
@tektrixter

Draining the life out of something, killing it, does not change what it is/was. Every living thing will die. Rewriting life changes the essence of what it is, and that is fighting against the will of the force.

I find the aspect of imbuing metals especially fascinating, especially because it brings up an idea for me. We know that the Sith could imbue metals with the Force and for example forge swords that were not only equal to lightsabers in terms of destructive prowess but also served as a sort of focus for the Force. With this in mind, may it have been possible to imbue the cybernetics of of a Sith with the Force as well? We know that many Sith more often than not suffered grievous injuries (no pun intended) and were often reduced in their Force potential for it. While I still personally believe that this is mostly tied to the psychological issues that such injuries bring with them, the loss of limbs for example severely limits ones ability to use Force Lightning, as is the case with Vader. Having to use cybernetics in and on itself however does apparently not automatically mean that someone's Force potential is lessened, as seen with Darth Gean, according to Plagueis. It's apparently more about the physical aspects of lightning interacting with sensitive electronics. Might it have been possible to craft prosthetic limbs for Vader via Alchemy to actually allow him to use Force Lightning without the danger of shorting out his own breathing apparatus? Or allow Force Users with cybernetics hands or arms in general to conduct Force Lightning through those altered limbs?

I would almost say that a Jedi could be an alchemist but instead of using the Dark Side they would use the Light Side to create vaccines and cures for plagues and poisons by pouring the Light Side into certain chemicals to create them. Like the Rakoul Plague could be defeated by using a cure and vaccine that is made for a Light Side imbued chemical serum that reverts the victims back to their original state and the vaccine part prevents any future infection thus defeating the disease once and for all. After all what the Dark Side mutates the Light Side should be able to heal and undo. As it’s stated when the Dark grows the Light will rise to meet it. The only problem it is that when alchemical beasts are unleashed the Jedi don’t have enough time to properly research a way to undo it and have to deal with the problem immediately or risk the destruction of millions. Sadly this means they often have to put the monster out of its misery rather than capture it, isolate it from any population and then work on trying to cure it. So I wouldn’t write off Force Alchemy as completely evil, because in this context I’d say that it has potential to help innocent people and creatures by using the Light Side instead of the Dark Side it’s just that no one bothered to think of it.

I’d personally like to see more explored into the different sides of the Force abilities. Such as we see Merrin in Fallen Order and we see that yes, she is of the Nightsisters but she uses their magic for good. Though it is of the Dark Side, Merrin uses it to do good. It would be nice to see this explored in other areas, such as an alchemy form that was started by a past Jedi but was never completed before their death, though their findings prove that alchemy can be used for good. As well as magic, a magic that stems directly from the Light Side and is inherently good in nature. It would give more depth to the 2 orders and their desire to be the complete opposites from each other, but also give more depth to the Force itself showing that the Force follows the saying, “Where there is good, so shall evil be present; but while evil lives, good shall never rest.” I would, as a Jedi, attempt to study these forbidden areas to bring a greater understanding to them and prove that they can be good as well, just as some of the past Jedi have challenged the order and overturned an idea that was long held as wrong. If knowledge is pursued in the purpose of peace, kindness, and protection then why should these arts be banned if there is the possibility for good to be wrought from what is considered evil, to ensure a new dawn that will be beneficial and good for all? The Jedi are wary of change and accepting new things, but the value that alchemy and magic could bring if it’s potential light counterpart was found could do so much for the order and the galaxy.

Every Force ability has both dark and light aspects to it. Using sorcery or imbuing objects with an essence is only dark side of the object itself is forced to go against its nature especially if it is a living being. Let’s say you imbue a sword with light side energy, the sword will be stronger during combat as long as it is being used to defend and protect but if it is then used to oppress, it will just become a normal sword or worse become brittle and fragile. The dark side is only concerned with material things.

The original sith, the species, not the order, had their own form of force-neutral Alchemy, neither Light nor Dark. They used it to create 'enchanted' objects and create tools that would act like advanced machines, serving purposes for which normal machines hadn't been invented yet. It also split the original Red-Skinned Sith species into four distinct castes. The leaders, the warriors (massassi), the builders (Zuguruk), the priests (Kissai). These were distinct subspecies, but not naturally occurring ones. The species used alchemy to divide itself and optimize each caste for their roles. Massassi were made larger, stronger, and tougher. Zuguruk more dextrous and mechanically clever. Kissai actually had a genetic predisposition towards selflessness and community-building implanted in their genes. Also, Alchemy is far from the most evil thing a Sith could do. Look up the exact details of Mechu-Deru-Vitae.

I would use it, but as a means to help. I'll explain below. In actual medicine, there are things that aren't harmful to us in moderation, but can be if taken to an extreme. There are some really weird ones, but know that leeches are one of a few examples. In terms of body modifications, you can have the creature's consent, especially with talking through the force. Perhaps the creature is curious, or humanoid, for either science or seeking to eliminate stuff like cancer or developing an immunity to it. Perhaps changing the rapid growth into an advantage. Biology is weird. As you stated with the staff example, bringing up inner life hidden in it, it can be used for good. It can be used justly. In your example of poisons, there is a type of poison to harmful to bacteria but not people: antibiotics. You could also change the properties of bad things, and gear it to eliminating certain diseases that harm society. You could use the staff example but on people, bringing some mental expansion and clarity. And of course, there's also a legal punishment route to administer proper judgement on criminals and eliminate or handicap certain abilities that dangerous people would use to harm others. You can use a weapon to save a person's life, or end a life to save many. You can use nuclear energy as a means to power entire cities, despite its history in warfare. You can use life forms to protect and help other life forms, and with a form of consent, like mutual advantage. You can make poisons that kill certain deadly bacteria, but not humans. So yes, I'd likely use it, for a variety of reasons.

I think that totally makes sense that the Jed’ai experimented with alchemy. Being some of the first to use the force I can see them pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Like getting on a sport bike and opening up the throttle just to ‘see what she can do’.

I personally believe Force Alchemy would be a great asset, but it would also be very risky. Think of it as great power at the cost of a great doom. Therefore, not worth it in the end.

I would definitely go into alchemy, not sure, which one, items seems to be innocent enough for me, but I would probably wanted to go into life side to create new ecosystem and help with Terraformation on inhabitable planets, how increase my own or others force sensitivity and how give normal people talent for it. Just worried about how much immoral would experiments for it needs to be.

Objections to using the force on beings if it causes damage make sense but some jedi do healing which is in the same vein as alchemy so for those and enchanting inanimate objects I fail to see the issue unless its something in the process

I'd do it. If the ancient Jedi managed to do it on inanimate objects with the intent of good, surely it's possible to create tools of good through it. With a good balance of the dark side and light, one could theoretically keep one's mind intact after and while doing so

I agree with the Dark Jedi that Alchemy has its own uses plus the fact that the exact processes are so vague only adds to the lure of the practice. Personally, I'd only use alchemy to forge weapons for classic may lay combat.

The only moral argument for alchemy is for the discovery of cures to help sick or ill individuals. The process would have to be at the consent of the being having the alchemy conducted on them.

There always has to be a mystery in great written work. If you solve everything it becomes boring. So here we have the concept of Force Alchemy. As you said across many the TV series and books were given tantalising little glimpses but nothing is explained. That being the point. I believe that the Sith began as explorers in what else the Force can do, as you said many of the things they twisted or perverted, if you will, were practised in the past by the Jedai. Scroll forward several thousand years of one-upmanship and you get the Sith.

If there was a light side version of alchemy, improving things and beings for their benifit instead of mine, then yes I would. However the nature of Alchemy makes that impossible as it is far worse than simply hurting a being

This seems to be another power that exists on a spectrum. Telekenesis can be good or evil in Star Wars, moving objects or choking the life out of people, it's up to the user. Using alchemy to imbue weapons and armor with power doesnt seem evil to me, but corrupting living beings into mutated monsters definitely is. I don't think alchemy should have been banned in the Jedi Order, i think there just needs to be rules about it. Force Imbued armor, weapons or other useful tools just seems like a benefit to the Jedi as long as there are established limits. Obviously no flying rancors allowed..
